Derelict

Are these pure glamour or what? I love to contrast of the Kadie’s ridiculously glamorous dress and Colin’s swanky suit and hat combo alongside the derelict backdrop…

The photographer, Karen, described this couple to me…
Kadie & Colin’s wedding last October was the third wedding I’ve shot for
musicians from Colin’s band, OnceOver.  I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never seen the guys play, but they must be awesome because they all marry incredibly beautiful women!  Kadie is a RN and, ‘hello nurse!’, look at those legs!
They’re just about the most real, down-to-earth couple a photographer could ever hope to work with.

Thanks Karen! Please feel free to send me more more more!

Rock n Roll Railroad

Diane Sage of Sage Studios Photography sent me this great photo shoot, and explained what being ‘rock n roll’ means to her. A pretty perfect description I’d say!

When I think of a “rock and roll” wedding or photo shoot, I think of how the people in the photographs are.  They look good, they rock it behind the camera and overall the feel of the images stand out.

She also went on to discribe her ideas behind this stand out session…

This particular shoot was done to just spend the day having fun with a past bride. Liz and her husband Caleb got married in September 2008 but I asked her to come back and throw her gown back on so we could get these vintage feeling photographs.  Liz wore her fabulous dress and we added the funky neck pieces as well as some vintage luggage and brought her up to the tracks for some fun photographs. I didn’t go with the traditional bouquet, instead opting for these vintage feeling neck pieces that I think are really quite beautiful.  Liz wore her hair down with no veil to add to the casual feel of the shoot.

On another note, I am also a huge fan of Liz’s dress, I’m pretty sure it’s by Maggie Sottero and that I tried it on when I was looking for my own wedding dress.

Thanks Diane – I can’t wait for you to send me more!

Vintage Vacation

This sounds like a wedding I am going to love! The wedding will be taking place in July (eek, so soon) and the couple have planned to do everything themselves from from making the decorations, Jenn’s veil and even baking their own cakes – proper DIY!  The theme they are going with will be based on “vintage vacation”, with a western cowboy twist..I can’t wait!

Jenn is also a photographer herself, so be sure to check out her blog & etsy site too!

Fashion Fusion

It is impossible for me not to post every single image from this gorgeous Valentine’s day wedding sent in by the wonderful Canadian photographer Sharon Piller of Valley Portraits.  Firstly this the couple, Kurtis & Amy are practically model-perfect, secondly this wedding has an amazing fashion/vintage fusion thing going on, and thirdly the snow..I have missed posting all those snowy weddings! Plus their portraits look like they could be stills from a movie…just gorgeous!
I am a little bit gaga over Amy’s black veil & shoes combo too – I love black and white weddings (which is why we had one hehe) I think it’s such a classically beautiful but ‘rock n roll edged’ way to do it.
You really really should go check out the couple’s engagement session, taken by a clapped-out (but very photogenic) old car – they are gorgeous.

Sharon, you are such a talent!
