1980s Prom Theme Wedding Inspiration with Budget Friendly Decor Ideas

So many styled shoots look incredible, but often there’s hundreds of pounds worth of flowers/expensive props/ designer everything involved which makes it unreachable for many couples. So when Maddie from Sonnet Weddings and Events got in touch with this gorgeous ‘80s prom-themed shoot completely with decor that only cost around £30, we jumped at the chance to showcase that you don’t need a lot of money to decorate a wedding.

“I have had an idea percolating for a while to create a huge papier mache arch,” she told us, “which started with trying to brainstorm super cost-effective ways to make large-scale decorations. As the crazy pink arch started to take shape and each individual piece was designed and created, the kitschy ‘pink pink pink’ theme came together and all the other vendors ran with it!”

Rollercoaster: Bright meets Retro Amusement Park Elopement Inspo

When Emily Zamora of Simply Wandering Photo got in touch with this styled shoot submission, we loved it not only for the gorgeous, fun pops of colour, but also for the unique styling concept! Emily told us; “The incredibly talented Abbey Rose Event Design with the concept of styling a wedding after a song.”

“Growing up in a household of musicians, music has always been a large part of Abbey’s life, so turning to music to inspire her was an obvious step. The song she chose was Rollercoaster by Bleachers. She wanted to incorporate the fun upbeat melody by adding in pops of colour and fun/vibrant elements throughout the day. And what better place to host such a celebration than at an actual working amusement park with rollercoasters.” We’re sure lots of you will resonate with Abbey’s love of music – is there a particular song that could inspire your day?

I Love Italy – Elegant & Romantic Lake Como Bridal Inspo

Poetry meets elegance, fashion and a touch of Italian style was the brief for this gorgeously sumptuous styled shoot by planner and stylist Georgia or Georgia Louise Weddings. “As a collective, we wanted to put together a styled shoot that differs from the usual classic cliches in inspirational wedding content,” she told us.

“It was also paramount to us to convey the importance of human connection after the crazy times we’ve all had recently. Like everywhere, the Italian bridal scene has had a really rough 18 months, and we wanted to put together this shoot to give hope and joy to all couples that have been through postponing their most important day.”

Wild & Romantic Scottish Highlands Elopement Inspo

If there’s one place in the UK the springs to mind when it comes to when you think of running away to elope, the Scottish Highlands is it! Photographer Charlotte Kinsella was inspired by the beautiful Glencoe area while putting together this elopement shoot with gorgeous real-life couple Danielle and Jeremy.

“I also wanted small business and sustainability to be at the heart of it,” Charlotte told us. “I also wanted to create something super wild and romantic all while tapping into my obsession with high fashion and an editorial style. When I came across Coop Couture in my search for a dress, I completely fell in love! Her silk dresses are knitted by hand (by the woman herself, Gracie Cooper) and if the bride so wishes, can be entirely unravelled and reconstructed into a new design. She offers to redesign brides dresses into other pieces after their wedding day, which I thought was amazing.”

Interstellar: Celestial Wedding Inspo with a Chotronette Dress

We don’t feature styled shoots that often here at Rock n Roll Bride any more, far preferring the real details involved from your gorgeous wedding days, but when something this dreamy lands in our inbox, we can’t resist! Husband and wife team The Chamberlins have longed to shoot a celestial-themed set-up for a long time; Celle is obsessed with all things starry and both her and Will feel a deep spiritual connection to the heavens due to their faith. They told us; “we wanted to celebrate the beauty, the freedom and the vastness of the skies by arranging a celestial-themed styled shoot.”

Their main priority was the dress – they knew they didn’t want any other gown other than the Aurora Borealis gown by Romanian designers and Rock n Roll Bride faves, Chotronette. “For us, the dress epitomised a glorious dusky sky with its soft pastel tones combined with the sparkles of the stars,” Celle told us. “We specifically wanted to steer away from darker tones that one can often associate with the night-sky and instead, play on the dusky colours that preempt the darkness and reflects a different type of otherworldly feeling.”

Retro meets Boho Dreamland Wedding Inspo

Like many of you, Dreamland in Margate, Kent, hold a special place in our hearts at Rock n Roll Bride. After shooting editorial there ourselves for issue 18 of the magazine, we love to see how other teams imagine the kitsch amusement park in a completely different way.

Wedding planner Illy Goodall of Illy Elizabeth Weddings dreamed up a summer pastel meets floral bohemian theme, combining popping pastel vibes with dried floral clouds by Star + The Moon to compliment the venue itself for a modern take on the amusement park theme.
