Rock Concert Wedding in Pittsburgh

Kat

Steven Dray

September 4, 2015

Nicole and Steve were married at Stage AE, a concert venue in downtown Pittsburgh. Getting married at a venue as iconic as this obviously had a huge influence on the theme of the wedding! "Music has always been a big part of our relationship", said the bride. "We wanted our family and friends to share in that important aspect of our life together, which is why we chose Stage AE. We faced many objections and difficulties with such an unconventional wedding venue, but we knew what we wanted and were determined to make it happen."

January 7, 2013

Charlie & Simon's circus and rock themed wedding was held at Circomedia, a circus training school in an old church building in Bristol. The theme was a dramatic statement and full of all the things the couple love! "Our entire theme was rock - we're both into rock & metal music and we knew that we wouldn't have enjoyed doing something other than that", Charlie began. "I am South African and so having some bits from my background was also important."

Vintage Goth Meets Glam Heavy Metal…with a Pinch of Glitter: Amberly & Gabe

Kat

December 19, 2011

Amberly & Gabe's September wedding was held at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. A Rock n Roll wedding to the core, music played a huge part in their day. "We are music lovers and the cocktail hour music was a custom list of electric violin covers by Ms. Jennifer Spingola," the bride told me. "The music over dinner was provided by the Vitamin String quartet featuring our favorite songs. These included versions of Sweet Child of Mine, Stairway to Heaven, Rocking in the Free World, Purple Haze and November Rain. Our first dance was to an Adele’s cover of the Cure’s Love Song."

A Rock n Roll London Wedding with Rockaoke!: Chris & Natalie

Kat

November 2, 2011

When photographer Annamarie Stepney slipped Chris & Natalie's wedding my way, I just about squealed with joy. Not only was Natalie an avid Rock n Roll Bride reader throughout her wedding planning, but I could see a few little ideas that she'd gotten from my blog snuck in there - hello purple wedding dress and Butler & Wilson skull crown! "I fell absolutely head over heels for the Butler & Wilson skull crowns after seeing photos of Kat in one so I checked them out. It was great as no one realised it was made up of skulls until they got close. I also wore it for my 30th birthday a month later."

A Backyard Handfasting & Rock Festival Wedding: Becca & Gary

Kat

September 19, 2011

Bex & Gary’s wedding looks like it was a lot of fun, dispite the rain! The first part of the day was a handfasting ceremony and morning reception in the bride’s Gran’s back garden. Afterwards the couple went to the registry office for the ‘legal bit’ and the day was rounded off by them going to Nozstock Festival and staying in their very own honeymoon suite – a tipi! "We knew straight away that we didn't want a traditional wedding and we both loved the idea of running away together to get married in secret but at the same time we wanted all our friends there too," the bride told me."We'd both been to weddings that felt impersonal and where we'd both felt nervous and out of place so our mission was to try and make the day as chilled out and as comfortable for everyone as possible. Gary came up with idea of going to a festival instead of a wedding reception and it all sort of fell into place."

A Heavy Metal, Karaoke Party: Julia & Steve

Kat

September 16, 2011

Julia & Steve found their photographer Hannah Millard after seeing a feature on her on Rock n Roll Bride. It's always so extra special to me to share weddings that my blog has 'helped' in some way and I'm really excited that this gorgeous couple were able to get such great wedding photographs because of Rock n Roll Bride. Happy face! Hannah clearly agrees. "Woahhh," she writes. "This wedding was just... wow. I mean. Just... OK, I'm having trouble putting it into words, it was just pure Rock n Roll. Julia & Steve are an awesome couple and they definitely know how to party. There was vodka and tattoo artists and rock band karaoke and Julia's brother DOVE INTO A CAKE. It was amazing."

A Bride in Boots

Kat

April 26, 2010

Oh Dan & Dayna you've made my day! What an awesome wedding and a fantastic story. I've been dying to share these all weekend! I knew this would be an awesome wedding in fact as soon a photographer Matthew told me that the bride was part of the Vaudeville Circus (you can see her in action here - far right in the white dress) "I wanted to have a rock-n-roll wedding that felt like Dan and I had our hands all over" explained Dayna "I spent a lot of time pouring over wedding blogs and getting inspiration from cool brides. I picked themes that we both loved like reading, hence the book center pieces and framed quotes from our favorite authors, Fall and the month of October (the colors and flowers), simple down home (and cheap!) mason jars as vases. All of our music the entire day was hand picked and never 'traditional': wedding procession we had our friend play the ukulele, bridal march was Cat Powers "Sea of Love" (followed by The Honeydrippers "Sea of Love" for our first dance), our walk as husband and wife was Joey Ramone's "Wonderful World". Our flower girls wore homemade tutu's, leotards and ballet slippers. We had a drawing after dinner with silly gifts of our life so far (a DVD of the first movie we saw, a pint glass from the restaurant where we met, a dvd of "It's a Wonderful Life" cuz we're nerds and watch it every year...). It was a rockin' day for sure!"

Hollywood Rock

Kat

December 18, 2009

Megan & Marcelo met at a punk rock bar in Hollywood... so naturally their wedding would have elements of rock too. The day took place at the ube cool Marvimon in LA with the beautiful flowers being put together by Holly Flora. The bride wore a short hip wedding dress by Amsale and shoes by Gwen Stafani's label, L.A.M.B. The groom looked similarly hot to rock in his skull themed accessories. All the music was hand picked and complimented by the couple's favourite videos projected all night behind the dance floor. It felt like The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Devo, Love and Rockets and Nick Cave all attended the bash as well! The guests kept saying was that this wedding was just soooo Megan & Marcelo...and that is one the best compliments a couple can get. Thanks to Suthi for sharing this funky, Rock n Roll wedding with us today!

Two Sides to the Story

Kat

December 2, 2009

Allison & Gabe's wedding day started like every other - excitable, elegant, stylish and full of lurrrrve - then night fell and the chaos and fun of rock star proportions ensued! I love how the couple's attire matches their mood - beginning of the day - excited, demure and classy (I adore Allison's simple dress), end of the night - ruffled and rocking the hell out (and again I adore Allison's dress!) In fact it wasn't just the bride who changed - the whole wedding party got changed (the women into ruffles, the men into dinner suits) for the massive party at the end of the night! Photographer Inbal me all about the madness, Allison and Gabe had a ceremony on a boat in the east river, incorporated marriage rituals from basically every religion they could think of (and made up a few of their own), and later had their reception at the Princess Manor in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, who also catered. They had ice sculptures made in their likeness! Kenley from Project Runway crashed the wedding! The bride got so drunk she lost her shoes (I gave her mine and she still has them)! As you can see, they partied pretty hard and made their own rules. Thanks to Inbal for sharing and of course to Allison & Gabe for being too freakin' awesome for words!

For Those About To Rock…

Kat

June 29, 2009

With a rock star Groom like Jeremy would you expect anything less than a wedding like this? The couple choose an awesome venue and had live music a go go! They walked down the aisle to Led Zeppelin and had friends playing an acoustic set during their ‘cocktail lounge’. The speeches sound like they were somewhat epic, with Alison’s brother even getting everyone shout “For those about to rock, we salute you" at the end of his toast! Jeremy’s parents rapped during their speech and Alison’s dad sang for his. For favours the couple made a ‘Rock Star Survival Kit’ including a custom guitar pick, a shot glass and bubble gum. The couple also got their wedding rings engraved with the words ‘you rock’ on his, and ‘you rule’ on hers (made by The Devil’s Workshop)…definitely not the usual soppy stuff! Alison’s dress was by Alfred Angelo, her hair piece by Etsy seller, GG Designs and her gorgeous bouquet & Jeremy’s boutonniere were made by Princess Lasertron.
