The Perfect Christmas Present to Yourself – A Limited Edition Rock n Roll Bride Wall Planner!

Shameless self-promotion alert!

A few months ago I was talking to some photographer friends of mine who were looking to buy their 2011 wall planners – a vital organisational tool when you run your own business. However the moans came that all the planners available were so boring!  Why should such a creative bunch look at a plain and uninspiring sight all year?!

So, to cut a long story short, I got chatting to Abbey of Sugalily who kindly offered to design me a custom Rock n Roll Bride wall planner of my very own – the perfect use for all those photo shoot photos I have cluttering up my hard drive ha! Check it out – awesome huh!?

After I saw it, I started thinking, maybe some of my readers might like one too? Brides-to-be planning their weddings always need to write down when all their appointments are, and my photographer friends always need to easily see when they’re booked for photo shoots or weddings. In fact everyone needs a bit of planning some days, so why not do so in (pink) style?!

The price for a Rock n Roll Bride 2011 wall planner (size A2) is just £19.95 (including postage) and we can ship worldwide! To order, click the logo below or right here

The Rock n Roll Bride wall planners are available for a limited period only! You must place your order buy Monday 6th December 2010 to get yours in time for Christmas!

What Exactly IS a Rock n Roll Wedding?

Credit: Malgosia Bela by Mario Testino via Fashion Gone Rogue

The question I dread when I meet people for the first time (which is of course the question that they then always ask) is “So, what’s the most ‘Rock n Roll’ wedding you’ve ever seen?” (and yes, they sometimes even do the air quotes {{shudder}} )

First off CHRIST, if they knew how many weddings I’d seen over the last 3 years their heads might explode. It is a lot! How do I choose between them all? How can I possibly pick just one? Or even just one style of wedding? The great thing about Rock n Roll weddings is the vast differences between them all. It would be like a choice between a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes or a huge big pink cupcake. They are not mutually exclusive and I want both please!

The other thing that happens to me a lot is people say (usually in comments and anonymously I might add) “Well that wedding is not very Rock n Roll is it? Why did you feature that?” or even worse I once got “Who the hell are you? You’re not 50’s rockabilly in style at all! You are a fake. You are not Rock n Roll!” Erm…correct! I am not 50’s rockabilly in any way. Have I ever claimed to be?

Don’t Judge a Book by it’s Cover

That’s what photographer Belletold me when these landed in my inbox last week. “Katie and Aaron wanted a shoot that really captured their intimacy and also their unique sense of style. Aaron is an aspiring fashion designer. His line is called “Anticonformity and Filthy”, and most of what him and Katie are rockin’ in the photos are his creation. Never judge a book by its cover, because while they may look edgy in the photos, they were one of the sweetest couples to work with.”

The Julia Boggio Studios Grand Opening

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to the fancy pants grand opening of the Julia Boggio Studios in Wimbledon, London. Not only was it the very studio that Julia and I did my vintage boudoir shoot but I was able to meet a load of new people from the UK wedding industry as well as catch up with some old friends.

I headed up to London with the lovely Lisa of Magpie Vintage. Before the party we paid a visit to our friends at Luella’s Boudoir in Wimbledon who kitted us out with sparkles and shoes (Lisa nabbed some gorgeous Emmy shoes and I borrowed a beeeautiful Magpie Vintage headband – and yes I wanted to keep it!)  We then all piled back in Lisa’s car and made our way to Merton Abbey Mills where Julia’s studio is located.

The studio was filled with people all talking excitedly about their plans and ideas for the coming wedding season, and as we sipped Bellini’s and ate canapes off a tray with my face on (yeah, Julia nice idea ha!) I couldn’t help but wish the party just went on that little bit longer.  Here are a few images and a super cool video of the event (can you spot my pink head and ‘rock n roll’ necklace?) Enjoy! And UK brides, remember – I now have a million and one contacts for like, everything you might want for your Rock n Roll wedding! Hit me up with an email if you need any recommendations.

All Because of Rock n Roll

Bonnie & Rod’s 195os inspired wedding was held at Malcolm’s Of Maleny in Queensland, Australia. When I asked photographer Julian what made this pair rock n roll, he had the perfect answer for me…

“Bonnie was born and raised in Australia and in short, is a singer. Rod was born and raised in Mississippi and had never been to Australia before — They met over the Internet through each other’s music, Rod being a Guitarist in a band without a singer. Bonnie was asked by Rod to record a singing part to a piece he had recorded. And the rest, as they say, is history. He flew over and met her, they dated and then, obviously, married. All because of Rock And Roll, literally.”
