Classic London Wedding with a Bowling Alley Reception, Pizza and All the Power Ballads

Grace and Chris’s wedding really showcased the best of London weddings – they got ready at the beautiful St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, got married at Islington Town Hall, and then partied at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes. Yep, that’s right – they had their wedding in a bowling alley, and it was all kinds of awesome!

“Our inspiration was really having things we both loved in life being part of our wedding,” Grace explains, “Our dog, pizza, power ballads and bowling!”

The day was relaxed and focused on fun, with no readings during the ceremony. “The ceremony was short and sweet – just the vows, the signing and the kiss! We made a playlist to play while guests were waiting (which was longer than we’d have liked, as there was a bomb scare in London that day and it took me longer to get to the venue because the roads were closed), and one of my favourite photos from the day is when one of Chris’s choices, Flo Rida’s Going Down for Real came on. He danced on his own at the front of the hall and it is such a perfect candid moment!”

“I came in to Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland, as I have two Wizard of Oz related tattoos and it’s been on repeat for most of my life. As huge Jurassic Park fans, we signed the register whilst playing the theme tune by John Williams, and as massive power ballad fans, we walked out to Tina Turner’s The Best!”

Snowy Rock n Roll Meets Game of Thrones Mountaintop Elopement in New Zealand!

If this elopement had a soundtrack, it’d be a very emotional rendition of You Take My Breath Away mixed with the Game of Thrones theme tune. Jess and Sam’s beautiful wedding is a genuine breath-taker, as they got married at Glendhu Bay Lookout, which looks over the Mount Aspiring National Park. Fittingly, I am now aspiring to get to this national park, stat. Then, they took a helicopter ride to Fog Peak and, well, the photos speak for themselves.

“We’ve never been fans of large, traditional style weddings so we’ve always wanted to do something a little different from the norm,” Jess says. “We also fell in love with New Zealand and the beautiful landscapes when we did a road trip around the country in 2017. After considering different types of weddings to have at home in Australia with friends and family, we decided that it wasn’t ‘us’, and that we had to do what made us happy. We both wholeheartedly agreed that we wanted to have an intimate wedding and get married amongst the stunning scenery in NZ!”

Rock n Roll Cats, Pink & Metal Themed Wedding

Rhian and Andrew’s wedding theme was ‘Rock n Roll cats’ with the slogan ‘mutual weirdness forever’ and to be honest, that – coupled with the above photo – is pretty much all you need to know to want to find out more…

“We wanted to encapsulate us into our day as much as possible,” Rhian explains, “so we ended up with a lot of different elements – from cats, metal and rock, to leopard print, pink, Pokémon, skulls, and everything in between. We wanted to focus on what we both love in life and what was special between us – but we were also inspired by a lot of different weddings we viewed on your blog!” (You GUYS.)

Rhian is a designer and illustrator so created most of the elements herself, alongside friends. “Nearly everything was completely bespoke, designed, or made by us!” she says. This included table names based on band name-cat hybrids and top table signage saying ‘Hiss and Purrs’ instead of his and hers, as well as hand-painted signs and hand decorated jars filled with hot pink decor.

Rockabilly & Fifties Inspired Italian Wedding

Italian couple Silvia and Elia met at a summer party, and have always had the courage to be their utmost selves in everyday life, so their wedding was to be no different! “In Italy, marriage is considered a very serious rite,” explained Silvia, “so to do things our own way is to be considered quite courageous!”

The couple of have a love for all things from the fifties as well as rockabilly, so this was the main inspiration for the wedding. They had tattoo and retro diner inspired stationery, pops of red throughout and a bright red vintage Vespa and Cadillac Bel Air as their transport. “We were inspired by the idea that having a bright and happy wedding would make for a bright and happy marriage!” said Silvia. Even their guests got into the fifties theme and each wore a touch of red in their outfits!

Rock n Roll Meets Rustic Glam Motorbike Wedding

Brenna and Shawn’s submission was called “dead stuff, gold stuff, black stuff and motorcycles” and we think that just about covers their amazing Rock n Roll meets rustic glam wedding! Having met whilst their bands were touring, it was always going to be a pretty epic celebration…

“Our inspiration was everything we like,” Brenna says, “Gold glittery glam tones and jewel tones, black and bones.” It was also important to the couple that the day was super personal: “Our wedding was at my aunt and uncle’s farmland which has been in our family for generations, and was my grandparent’s favourite place. We spent our wedding night in a hunting cabin that my grandfather and great-grandfather built by hand, that each generation has lovingly updated. It’s a truly beautiful place.”

Brenna looked IIIIIIINSANE in an incredible strapless dress from Oleg Cassini with the most gorgeous metallic floral pattern, before changing into a sequinned fitted stunner for the evening (insert red dancing lady emoji here). Confession – I totally teared up at the photo of her and Shawn, dressed in a smart Men’s Wearhouse suit, doing their first look. Her bridesmaids all wore their own black dresses and sunglasses.

Glamorous Boho Las Vegas Elopement… with a Rock n Roll Flare!

Alex and Tamara actually met in high school, and although it took several years for their relationship to blossom (despite Alex’ regular attempts to take Tamara on a date!) once they finally reconnected they were inseparable, and soon found themselves creating a life together.

The laid back couple hadn’t actually planned to get married, instead they had just booked a fun getaway to Vegas – in fact Tamara actually thought that marriage was never on the cards for them. “I always thought if two people love each other why do they need to be legally bound to one another?” said Tamara. But after three years of living together, two pit bulls and two children later, they thought it would be the perfect way to complete their family unit. They always knew they wanted a stress-free, easy-going wedding so a Las Vegas elopement was perfect for them – carefree and super fun, just like them.
