Punk Rock Inspired Wedding with a Tattoo Shop Reception!

Music is a huge part of Silja and Andy’s everyday lives – Andy plays in a band professionally, and the couple met when he was playing at a psychobilly festival. Their love of swing, jazz, punk rock and psychobilly influences everything in their life including their everyday style, so there was no question that this is the styling they would choose for their intimate London wedding in December 2018.

Silja wore a custom dress from Lace Marry via Etsy. She paired it with her signature burgundy velvet high sole creepers by TUK Footwear, and a birdcage veil also from Etsy. Andy wore an outfit borrowed by their best man’s extensive vintage clothing collection.

Punk Rock Meets Brit Pop Inspired London Wedding

Laura was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar (yes, really!) when she met Lewis, and despite not charming her right away, they soon started to bond over their love of music. The couple are huge music lovers, with eclectic tastes, something that eventually made them click. With this in mind, they wanted to incorporate music into their wedding day as much as possible, so held their reception at Bush Hall in West London and booked London wedding photographer Jordanna Marston to capture their day.

The unique Edwardian dance hall, complete with old ceilings, chandeliers, and pictures of all the artists that have previously played there, felt like the perfect venue for the couple. Once they had their venue, they let their imagination for decoration run wild!

Bad Ass Sequinned French Elopement with a Lollipop Bouquet

I usually hate the word sexy but today’s elopement shoot is unapologetically sexy, and gloriously so. Concepted by photographer extraordinaire Buffet Froid, it’s dreamy elopement inspiration with two bad ass beauties who serve up true Rock n Roll Bride spirit.

In short, we love it!

“For me, elopements are ‘une ode à l’amour’ as we say in French – an ode to love,” Buffet says. “I am totally crazy about them, because they can revolutionise the way we celebrate love and weddings – they allow you to be totally free. It’s completely up to you! As a photographer, these are really special, because you end up shooting a precious instance at every single moment. I wanted to showcase this in a new and exciting way, so chose to do a shoot inspired by my love of metal – I like the boldness, and the free and wild state of mind that this music allows for.’.

Nautical Punk Rock Festival Wedding

nautical punk rock festival wedding (34)

Jess and Dan were married in a big top tent, in a field in Nympsfield, Gloucestershire. Their wedding theme was ‘rockabilly ska-punk festival’ as they were inspired by their love of punk-rock, 50s style, Polaroid photography, leopard print, tattoo culture, music and festivals.

In tattoo culture an anchor means ‘something or a person that grounds you’ so their stationery was also based upon this idea, and their wedding rings had anchors printed on them. For a festival name they decided on ‘Tie The Knot Festival’ which linked their festival idea with the nautical feel from the anchor.

“We really went to town with the punk rock and festival elements by making line-up posters, stage time sheets and having security at the entrance to the field dishing out wristbands to guests as they arrived,” explained Jess. “We also had a festival logo designed which, as well as being on all the wedding stationery and the website, was made into patches by a friend and sewn onto denim jackets for me and Dan to wear later in the evening. We even had a version of it tattooed on our wrists in the run up to the wedding! We really focused on ‘brand consistency’ to help make it seem like a real festival and drum up excitement for our guests in the lead up.”

‘No Rules, Just Right’ – Amanda & Tyson’s Party Hard Weekend Wedding

Ut oh…new wedding obsession heading your way. Seriously, Amanda & Tyson’s wedding is what dreams are made of and I’m so excited to share the full thing, in all it’s colourful glory on these pages.

Some of you might know Tyson. He is the genius behind this site, and a pin up artist (I actually found his site myself when I was searching for tattoo inspiration.) So needless to say, with such a creative groom, this wedding was always going to be bad ass. The wedding was held at Highland Falls in Blairsville, GA.

Amanda’s stunning green dress was by Teri Jon and she wore it with Jessica Simpson shoes which she added peacock clips from The Headband Shoppe on Etsy to tie in with the theme. She also used the decorative shoulder strap of the dress as her headpiece which gave her a really unique look.

“We wanted a weekend wedding because our families and friends get along smashingly,” the couple told me. “Plus, we wanted to have the time to enjoy everyone rather than spend the wedding only saying a quick hello. We love the mountains and we wanted an outdoor wedding so it seemed only fitting to find property that had a series of cabins to hold all our family and friends as well as have an on-site ceremony location and a large enough area to set up a tent for a reception… easy enough right? We found Highland Falls Cabins which is 15 cabins on beautiful property (check), large flat area for a tent (check), horse pasture that leads to two beautiful ponds = ceremony site (check).”

“Thanks to an exceptionally easy going and helpful property manager the site was exactly what we hoped for. Because of not choosing a venue there were some obstacles. We had to spend a bit more renting everything the catering required and running electricity, plus we had to be prepared for bad weather (thankfully there was NONE). By not choosing a wedding venue you definitely take on more stress, but thanks to a team of wonderful family and friends (big shout out to my mother in law Fonda Mcadoo) it was all possible. The ceremony and reception we had envisioned just wouldn’t have been achievable in a venue. With 40 acres all to ourselves we knew we could throw the party of a lifetime… and that’s exactly what it was.”

Sounds so perfect! But there was a bit of pre-wedding drama as Amanda explains, “Our wedding story is more like a series of ridiculous bloopers leading up to the day… starting the day before the wedding: the day starts with my nephew accidentally kicking me in the face and busting open my lip. By the evening I had somehow gotten pink eye and it looked as though someone had shoved a golf ball under my eyelid and then covered it with yellow pudding (YUCK!). So though my soon to be husband and I had planned on not spending the night before the wedding together, he stayed by my side, waking every two hours to put more eye drops in my eyes and to change the ice packs on my face… just a gentle reminder of how lucky I was. Thank God the morning of the wedding my eye is back to normal thanks to hubby nurse. But still more to come… (after all, these things always come in threes) I am dolled up by an array of magical hands… my dress is on, the makeup is perfect, the hair is flawless… then the stairs.. many, many, many stairs. I get caught on my dress, I fall and I crash down a flight of stairs. There is now blood & champagne  on my dress while I hold back tears and simply freeze up. Before I even realize it I am swept into a chair, my wounds nursed, my dress (yet another reason I’m glad it’s not white) is de-stained by some club soda and besides the band aids and lumpy shins under my dress you would never know I had ate it…. the wedding is perfection, the reception a non stop party and my series of unfortunate events seen as sign of good fortune to come.”

Any final pieces of advice? I asked the couple. “If your having a weekend wedding get people involved,” they told me. “Your friends and family want to be apart of the event and giving them ownership of something that contributes to your special day will make them feel awesome. For example: designating the photo booth backdrop to a friend. We bought the materials, showed her an example of what we wanted and she made it awesome.  Also don’t follow any ‘wedding rules’ because you feel your supposed to… follow the outback slogan ‘No Rules, Just Right’ and you’ll end up with wedding that feels like perfection.”

As you may have noticed I’ve tweeked the layout of the posts slightly this week. Now, you’ll just get one preview image for each article and if you want to see the rest you just need to click ‘read the the rest of this entry’. The idea behind it is to not only make the front page look a lot cleaner, but it means the pages will load a lot faster. My hubby/web designer was trying to make me cut down  on how many images I posted to compensate for the slow page load time – now that wasn’t gonna happen was it!? What do you think of the new style?

Apart from that don’t forget that the awesome TokyoMade contest is still open. You have until tomorrow to tell me which right if your favourite and why. Come on, you know you want it!

Punk Rockers

Erika & Chris tied the knot at Salt Lake’s legendary Ruth’s Diner which is now owned by Erika’s parents. The diner had never hosted a wedding before but suited the couple’s laid back, rock n roll style down to the ground. Dispite living in relatively conservative Utah, it would seem that nearly every tattooed kid in the State was in attendance – from tattoo artists to punk rockers!
