A Sunday Kind of Love – WIN Tickets to Mark Niemierko’s Valentine’s Party at Browns Bride!

This contest is now closeed

This week I was lucky enough to meet the legendary wedding planner Mark Niemierko. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about meeting him as I really didn’t know what to expect… or why a celebrity/high end wedding planner would want to meet me. However I’m pleased to report back that we got on like a house on fire! I seriously love this dude. He may be the planner du jour to the stars and I may be the punk rock chick with funny coloured hair and one to many tattoos, but over a couple of Cosmopolitans and a lot of gossip, I realised we’re very very similar indeed! I have since decided that we are best friends…and yes I do mean this in a stalkery kind of way.

Every year Mark hosts an exclusive Valentine’s Party, and this years celebration is to be held THIS TUESDAY (8th February) at Browns Bride, London. I’ll be there (what more could you want!?) as will a whole host of the most exciting and influential wedding industry glitterati (I’ve also heard on good authority that mark will be sporting something velvet. Ooh lala.)

This is a strictly invite only event.

Mark Niemierko in collaboration with Browns Bride and Rock n Roll Bride would like to offer one lucky reader, two tickets for the party of the season. All you have to do to enter is comment below and let us know why you’d like to come. This contest is open to all readers of Rock n Roll Bride – brides to be, photographers, other industry professionals, general wedding obsessives – so get entering!

As the party is in just two days time you must be quick! This contest closes tomorrow (Monday 7th) at midnight and the winner will be announced on the blog tuesday at 9am!

The winner will be chosen by Rock n Roll Bride & Mark Niemierko. Judges decision is final.
The prize includes two tickets to the Valentine’s Party at Browns Bride, London. Winners must organise their own transport and accommodation if needed.
Winners will be notified by email on Tuesday morning. If you enter, please check your email early so I can get you & your guest’s full names added to the guest list of the party right away! This is an exclusive, invite only event.

I hope to see some of you there! And don’t forget, if you can’t make this party, be sure to sign up for the Rock n Roll Party of the year! You have until next Sunday (13th February) to do so and the lucky 200 who have secured an invite will be announced on the blog over the next few weeks.

“It’s My Party”…Come Rock n Roll With Me in April!

Applications for this party are now closed

Remember the last Rock n Roll party? It was totally awesome! However this time I’m going bigger and BETTER! I’m hiring out a whole bar in central London (Soho) on Thursday 14th April 2011 from 6.30 – midnight for the party to end all parties…and guess what? You’re ALL invited. Brides, photographers, suppliers/vendors, bloggers, wedding obsessives…all of you! And the reason for this little get together? Well…cos parties are fun right?!

The last party was pretty popular. I organised it in just two weeks and just had a small area of a bar reserved. Even though a lot of people couldn’t come because it was so last minute, over 100 people still turned up! I was a little blown away by it all and so needless to say I’m now expecting this one to be just as popular. The venue has a capacity of 200 people. There will be a DJ, cupcakes and a photo booth (hopefully complete with silly props – if you have any you’d like to bring please do!) to keep you entertained as well and lots of yummy cocktails and lots of lovely people to talk to! I really hope you can make it!

As we have exclusive use of the bar, they have told me I can decorate and bring anything I like. I already have the cakes and the photographer covered, but if you are a supplier and think you have something to offer that would improve the party still (I’m thinking décor style stuff/sweets etc but I’m open to suggestions) please drop me an email and we can chat.

Because I’m anticipating this to be pretty popular (I hope!) I’m not going to publish the venue here, the bar have informed me that 200 is the absolute max they want to take and I don’t want people to be turned away. That would suck majorly.

So, to keep it fair, I’ve set up form below for you to sign up for if you want to attend. Please do sign up, even if we are friends and I’ve said I want you to come. It’s the easiest way for me to keep track of numbers and give the guest list to the venue before hand. If you want to bring a guest/partner that’s fine, but I’d ask that you sign them up separately for the same reason. There will be guys on the door and if your name isn’t on the list, you ain’t comin’ in!

Depending on how many people apply, names will be selected randomly to keep it fair. You have until Sunday 13th February (that’s just over 2 weeks) to register your interest. After that I’ll be sending a digital invite to your inbox if you’re successful in bagging yourself an invite informing you of the location and all that jazz.

I really hope you can make it and if the last party is anything to go by, it’s set to be a pretty wild night I’m sure!

EDIT a few people have asked me how much tickets are and the answer is nothing! All you have to pay for are your drinks (and maybe one for me!)

A Sunday Kind of Love – Good Friends, Drag Queens & THE Sparkly Skull Tiara

I’ve got a really superficial Sunday Kind of Lovin’ for you today but what the hey?! I really just wanted to share some photos and fun times from my night out last week with the awesome Emma Case, David McNeil and my Butler & Wilson sparkly skull tiara. We needed a gossip, we needed a catch up and we needed a (few) cocktails!

I haven’t laughed so much in ages!

We ended up in a club that was having a drag queen night – oh the hilarity! I’m not going to share the photos of what was going on on stage though eeek!

It’s Our Wedding, Let’s P.A.R.T.Y Hard!

Wow wow wow. Kelly & Sean sure knew how to rock a wedding! From an emotional ceremony, to a family-orientated reception to a crazy-fun party, the whole day looks like an utter blast! “The one thing that we dislike about weddings is how they are all alike” they told me. “We understand its tradition and that’s how its supposed to be done, but why? why is there a set pattern?  We wanted our wedding to be personal to us. We wanted to start our own traditions and do things unique to our style. The theme of our wedding was basically “Things We Love” and  it ended up being the perfect reflection of us. We did whatever we wanted and nixed things we disliked. we strived to make it intimate and personal. Our wedding was hands down the best day of our lives, we had everything we loved, surrounded by everyone we love and made sure to marry the heck outta the one we loved!”

The wedding too place at The Allan House. They had a short and sweet ceremony outside which was full of touching moments. The groom’s grandfather was a groomsman! He really relieved the tension during the ceremony when he whistled at the bride as she walked down the aisle…what a lovely idea to involve such a special member of the family in the wedding in this way.

Procedure: Molecular Fusion

I found a linky to the wedding of UBER UBER UBER cool recent bride and artist Zoetica Ebb & her writer husband Ales Kot on Gala Darling last week and literally couldn’t wait to share it with you – especially after I visited Zoetica’s inspiring website and laid eyes on her sparkly, blue, fauxhalk! Serious hair envy batman!

The pair actually got officially married in a microscopic civil ceremony June as Ales is a Czech citizen (you can see Zoetica’s post on the event here including their adorable ‘leaving the ceremony’ video) so the couple decided that a second ‘just for show’ ceremony didn’t make sense so their wedding was actually just a big old Rock n Roll celebration!

Zoetica wore the parachute gown from All Saints, which was a gift from her friend Courtney and a necklace from her husband, a keishi pearl and black garnet beaded necklace with pyritized ammonite pendant and three pink sapphire drops, by Ria Charisse, purchased through the lovely folks at Gold Bug Pasadena. The pair also had custom-sculpted and cast rings made by Shane Case. “We wanted a texture that looked somewhere between bark and flesh and the lunar surface” Zoetica told me.

Quirky, British Fare

There is going to be much love for this wild English wedding, because as soon as I saw it my heart flipped and I couldn’t wait to share! Not only because Micheal & Alice’s wedding was quirky, vintage and Rock n Roll cool, but because they are British too…yey for the UK giving the uber stylish yanks a run for their money!*

The couple chose The Hop Farm as their venue because, in their own words, “it had a certain britishness to it and being both born and bred in Kent we grew up with the iconic images of the oast houses and it just felt comforting and homely to have them as a back drop to the wedding.” They didn’t really have one theme per-say but they just came up with/borrowed ideas from many areas that inspired them. In fact the only stipulation they put throughout the whole of the process of planning their wedding was that they wanted to get as many people as they liked together to have a really good party, and the actual ceremony and marriage was just a small part of that.
