Rock n Roll Bride Party Report – Photo Booth Carnage

Deciding to have a photo booth at the Rock n Roll Bride Party was probably the most genius thing ever. I asked everyone to bring a prop and people really did go all out! From a customised uke to an inflatable pink wig… from gold hot pants to a laser cut ‘It’s only Rock n Roll but I like it”… from a blow up pink flamingo to a parrot (!) I was so excited that people made such an effort.

Lisa of Lisa Jane Photography was in charge of the booth-action, and I’m pretty sure she didn’t stop taking photos all night! So without further ado, check out the hilarity…

Be sure to check out the rest in the gallery (and for those of you that were there, can spot your own face?) after the ‘jump’.

Add yes….David McNeil and I snogged…we both look a little disturbed about it don’t we? Although I’d like to point out it was his idea

Rock n Roll Bride Party Report – 14th April 2011, London

So now I’ve got a party report to write…Wow. Erm wow. Where do I begin with this baby huh?! SO much happened…and it’s going to be hard to sum it all up in a few paragraphs but here goes…

Last Thursday I hosted a party and invited anyone who reads this blog to come along. Over 500 of you applied for tickets and 200 lucky brides & grooms-to-be and wedding industry professionals were asked to come along. The idea being that everybody I know works so hard, whether that be with their businesses or planning their weddings, so I wanted to give everyone an excuse to take a night off, dress up, eat cupcakes and sweeties, drink cocktails and generally get a little bit silly. And we did. Oh we did.

Lucy enjoying a large cocktails (for ahem 6-8 people) early on…

Looks like she wasn’t the only one…

The day started with Gareth & I hopping on the train to London to meet the awesome Elbie Van Eeden (she got married in March – you saw her fabulous wedding on my blog right?) who did our hair and my make up. When we arrived, Elbie said she’d been up all night thinking of ideas for my tresses and did I want the rainbow back? Erm yes pleeease! This time she did a kind of ‘dipped’ effect, where she just added the extra colours to the bottom half of sections of my hair. We kept the styling relatively simple with a few curls to really show off the colours. I adore it.

After a few hours of beautification there was a mad rush to dump our stuff in the hotel and I whizzed round to see my girls at Fur Coat No Knickers to get dressed. I am such a lucky girl that they bought in and customised this gorgeous vintage dress for me. It was originally below the knee and had a higher neckline but Emma & Laura suggested a puffball re-styling and adding pink edged petticoat. Hell yes! I wore it with my Vivienne Westwood pink pumps (flat shoes were a necessity!) my Tarina Tarantino ‘pink head’ necklace, my Butler and Wilson skull ring and some black and white diamond drop earrings lent to me by the incredibly generous Jon Keith Diamonds.

I arrived at the venue at 5.30 and was greeted by Charlotte of Restoration Cake, Hannah of Sweet Dream Events, Sara of Wedding Sparrow, Jayne of Sacco & Sacco Photography and Lisa of Lisa Jane Photography – my dream team for the night! I was blown away by a) how excited everyone was to be involved and b) how much effort and hard work they all put in. Charlotte’s cupcakes were divine as ever (how cute are the button cakes – made to match the invitations I sent!?) and Hannah’s sweetie display was nothing short of awe-inspiring. She even hand drew the skull labels and the take away bags. Genius.

Charlotte made the cute cupcakes to match the button design on the invitations I’d sent out!

Lucy Ledger then arrived with the menus that she’s designed for the custom cocktail (and yes they were delicious) and some caption boards for the photo booth. The “I want pink hair” board was particularly popular! (you’ll see more of this in the photo booth photos which I’ll be posting later today…)

Then it was show time! People started arriving at 6.30 and didn’t stop arriving until about 10pm. At one point I looked outside and there was actually a queue to get in! People squealed and hugged as they met for the first time (often after talking for months on twitter!) The vibe was joyful, electric and exciting…I couldn’t have hoped for anything more.

At about 8.30 I took to the mic and did a mini thank you speech. It was too dark to read my notes so I hope I didn’t forget to thank anyone. People whooped and cheered and I got a little teary saying an extra special big thank you to my wonderful and supportive husband Gareth.

The rest of the night pretty much consisted of me running around, trying to say hello to as many people as possible and hopping in and out of the photo booth to have pictures taken with everyone that wanted one. I was blown away by the turn out and I’m so so thrilled that everyone seemed to have such a fabulous time.

Check out these reports written up by some of the attendees…(if you’ve done one that’s not listed here, let me know add I’ll add yours!)

Happy Valentine’s Day – Smooooooozing and Swanning Around The Mark Niemierko & Browns Bride Valentine’s Party

0001 - David Willems Photography - MARK NIEMIERKO AND CAROLINE BURSTEIN, BROWNS FASHION

After Tuesday’s wedding blogger’s shoot came Mark Niemierko‘s Valentine’s Party, hosted by Caroline Burstein of Browns Bride (pictured above). Let me get one thing straight here… I was more than a little bit surprised to receive an invite to such an event.

“Seriously? Me? a pink (well rainbow) haired slightly-punky-in-no-way ‘high end’ wedding blogger…really?! You want ME so come and cover the event? Erm… OK then” Was pretty much the thought process I had when the invitation landed through my door.

So it was with some trepidation that I headed to Browns Bride in Marylebone, London on Tuesday evening accompanied by a couple of the girls also involved in the blogger’s shoot. We were a little late (photo shoots never run to time + taxi fail!) but as soon as I arrived a cocktail was thrust in my hand (hey, I could get used to this!) and Mark excitedly told me all about what was going on…who I simply must meet…why he was so excited to be working with wedding bloggers…and which dresses I should try on (OK I made that last bit up. The room was filled with Oscar de la Renta, Monique Luillier, Peter Langner, Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang, a girl can dream right?!)

It was great to meet so many people including Helen, the bride-to-be who won my competition to attend (well now she’s a newlywed as she got married on Saturday…and yes I’ve told he she must send me the photos. After hearing all about her plans I am very excited to see them indeed!)

But that’s not all. I am thrilled to reveal that not only did they actually let me in the door (!) but Mark commissioned the fabulous Allora Visuals to create a special behind the scenes video EXCLUSIVELY (yeah big letters…I’m that excited) for Rock n Roll Bride. That’s pretty darn ace huh! You won’t see this video anywhere else. Rock n Roll Bride is where it’s at baby…

(You should spot a familiar face at about 1 min 39!)

I’m a little bit gutted that I wasn’t able to get in the interview video (boohoohoo I hate being late) but luckily for you lot, Mark still sent it over to me so share with you all.

…And, in case you’re interested, my perfect Valentine’s Day would be pink champagne, a thai take away and a movie marathon with Gareth & the kittens. And my prediction for 2011 wedding trends would be that we’ll be seeing a lot more opulence and extravagance in weddings, but still with quirky, DIY and Rock n Roll touches. It will definitely still be all about the personal details and putting your own stamp on your wedding day… just with a little bit of Marie Antoinette thrown in for good measure!

Be sure to check out all the photos…this is the wedding elite right here…and me! haha

A Sunday Kind of Love – WIN Tickets to Mark Niemierko’s Valentine’s Party at Browns Bride!

This contest is now closeed

This week I was lucky enough to meet the legendary wedding planner Mark Niemierko. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about meeting him as I really didn’t know what to expect… or why a celebrity/high end wedding planner would want to meet me. However I’m pleased to report back that we got on like a house on fire! I seriously love this dude. He may be the planner du jour to the stars and I may be the punk rock chick with funny coloured hair and one to many tattoos, but over a couple of Cosmopolitans and a lot of gossip, I realised we’re very very similar indeed! I have since decided that we are best friends…and yes I do mean this in a stalkery kind of way.

Every year Mark hosts an exclusive Valentine’s Party, and this years celebration is to be held THIS TUESDAY (8th February) at Browns Bride, London. I’ll be there (what more could you want!?) as will a whole host of the most exciting and influential wedding industry glitterati (I’ve also heard on good authority that mark will be sporting something velvet. Ooh lala.)

This is a strictly invite only event.

Mark Niemierko in collaboration with Browns Bride and Rock n Roll Bride would like to offer one lucky reader, two tickets for the party of the season. All you have to do to enter is comment below and let us know why you’d like to come. This contest is open to all readers of Rock n Roll Bride – brides to be, photographers, other industry professionals, general wedding obsessives – so get entering!

As the party is in just two days time you must be quick! This contest closes tomorrow (Monday 7th) at midnight and the winner will be announced on the blog tuesday at 9am!

The winner will be chosen by Rock n Roll Bride & Mark Niemierko. Judges decision is final.
The prize includes two tickets to the Valentine’s Party at Browns Bride, London. Winners must organise their own transport and accommodation if needed.
Winners will be notified by email on Tuesday morning. If you enter, please check your email early so I can get you & your guest’s full names added to the guest list of the party right away! This is an exclusive, invite only event.

I hope to see some of you there! And don’t forget, if you can’t make this party, be sure to sign up for the Rock n Roll Party of the year! You have until next Sunday (13th February) to do so and the lucky 200 who have secured an invite will be announced on the blog over the next few weeks.
