Rock n Revolution – A Parisian Sneak Peek Part 1

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

Yes, that is how excited I am to share this. As most of you will know I headed over to gay Parieeee this week for the shoot to end all shoots, and BOY did it deliver. As you can probably see, the theme was punk rock Marie Antoinette and the props the stylist sourced were amazing. The dresses were super impressive (although I’ll be honest, I was a little afraid of them – they were BIG!) I got papped by more tourists than I’d like to count and was asked to appear in a French music video! I am a total Paris convert and will demand that Gareth takes me there again tout de suite!

I can’t wait to share the full shoot with you but to whet your apatite, here’s a couple of little sneak peeks – the first, a shot that we tweeted LIVE from Paris. David, the photographer was so excited when he looked in the back of his camera that he begged me to tweet just one. And the other two are a few little inklings for you to salivate over. Are you LOVING it?!

Full shoot (plus full list of all the amazing people involved AND behind the scenes shots & hopefully video) to come really soon – just you wait to see what a stir we caused at Sacré Cœur!

Bonjour mes petits amis!

Tomorrow I am heading over the channel to Paris (!) to embark on the photo shoot to end all photo shoots! This bad boy is seriously going to blow the lid off everything I’ve done before. I am a mixture of excited, elated and seriously nervous but I literally can not wait to stand under The Eiffel Tower and meander down The Champs-Elysées dressed in my finery…oh and what finery it is. I’m not really allowed to tell you anything else about it, but I do believe we’ve got some of the most exciting and well known industry experts and designers on board! You are literally going to die when you see what we’ve got up to.

Because of my mini-adventure, posting will be a bit light over the next few days (I do have a couple of awesome wedding scheduled to keep you going though) and I won’t be replying to emails until I return.

I’ll see you all when I get back mid next week.

Au Revoir!

Sophie & Jonny’s Burlesque Themed Rock n Roll Wedding

This is one of those posts that’s going to have a lot of photographs (hello, burlesque Rock n Roll wedding – there’s no way I could leave any out!) When photographer Marianne Taylor showed me a sneak peek of Sophie & Jonny’s wedding a few weeks ago, I knew straight away that they were right up my street…you’ll see why!

The couple got engaged in Paris on Sophie’s Birthday. “It was a dream come true,” the bride told me “Jonny had booked us into a plush Moulin Rouge themed hotel.  We sat on the steps of the Sacre Coeur and drank pink champagne and then he surprised me some more with tickets to the Moulin Rouge that night! I had no idea that he had not only secretly booked the trip but also tickets to The Moulin Rouge. My favourite film and as a burlesque fanatic, this was perfect. At the end of the show, on the red carpet, I was surprised with a box which I unwrapped to find a smaller box. Upon opening the small box and finding my Princess cut platinum ring (perfect!) he got down on one knee in front of everyone and asked me to marry him, to which I screamed and replied yes!”

The Paris proposal and Sophie’s love of all things 1940s and 50’s (she is a burlesque dancer herself) inspired the entire wedding which was a real DIY effort. She sourced the white ostrich feathers for a burlesque theme and the ‘Eiffel tower’ vases herself and set everything up for the reception. She also designed and made all the stationary and paper goods as well as helping out to make the cake. Instead of a guest book they dressed a vintage looking birdcage (found in a boutique shop) with feathers and pearls and had little black and white cards for people to write messages on and post them in the birdcage.

Parisian Super Glam

Methinks you’ll like these lovely Parisian, Moulin Rouge and super glam inspired wedding ideas from The Good Life Special Events.

“When styling this photo shoot, we wanted to create a romantic vintage atmosphere with a twist. Something vibrant, elegant, and out-of-the-box. Having been to the Moulin Rouge cabaret in Paris, we tied in details and rich colors reminiscent of our visit. The rich reds, deep purple irises, and black accents were intended on creating perhaps a non-traditional wedding palette. Tucking black feathers into deep, velvety red roses and contrasting purple irises, our floral pieces emitted a tone of a classic wedding romance while being a bit off-beat. Sheet music was rolled into scrolls and synced with crystal drops for a little touch of whimsy. Gorgeous hand-painted place cards accented our ruby French brocade linen and black satin napkins gave a punch of interest. All of these elements came together seamlessly to create a wedding celebration that is timeless, a bit sexy, and just radiating romance.”

Zarah & Dan had a wonderful french bohemian themed engagement session at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. The elegant, glamorous and sexy vibe of these completely excite me. Totally fabulous no?
