Laidback Foodie Festival Wedding

laid back festival wedding (39)

Festival weddings aren’t going anywhere, which makes me very happy indeed! I mean, what could be better than hanging out in the sunshine, listening to your favourite music and dancing late into the night?!

Becs and Chris were married at The Winter Garden at Sennowe Park, Norfolk. They hosted their reception in a tipi on the bride’s parent’s farm. “We always said that when we got married we wanted a festival feel”, said the bride. “Festival for us meant relaxed vibes, happy music and street food! We love food and that was pretty much the most important bit for us. We got Manjit and Fish& to drive down from Leeds because we love their award-winning food so much! I guess it’s quite unusual to have Gujarati food at a non-Indian wedding but we love curry and Manjit’s is incredible. As is Fish& – we had three types batters for our fish pieces! Trumpet & Crumpet provided amazing canapés and delicious British desserts for us.”

“Since the farm is reasonably remote, we let people camp over in one of the fields too”, she continued. “We also had my mum doing the ceremony which made it pretty unique – not many people can say their mum married them! My mum became a registrar when I was one and it had been my dream to have my mum do my wedding ever since then!”

DIY Desert Wedding

Dana and Nelson fell in love with Joshua Tree when they first visited, so they wanted to share it with their loved ones for their wedding. “Shortly after moving to Los Angeles in 2012 we went camping in Joshua Tree and loved it,” Dana began. “The incredible desert landscape has provided us with many new adventures and offered peaceful relief in times when we’ve needed it most. We wanted to share this breathtaking experience with those closest to us.”

“Most of our wedding was DIY. We dyed over 10,000 coffee filters to fill the dance floor. We collected bottles and jars for the flower arrangements on the tables, as well as made all the bouquets, boutonnières and centrepieces from flowers that we bought at LA Flower Market the day before. We made the signs leading guests to the venue. On the day of the wedding, with the help of our wedding party, we hung the decorations for both the ceremony and reception, as well as set all the tables.”

Love in the Clouds: A Hot Air Balloon Wedding

hot air balloon wedding in brazil (89)

Julia and Rogerio met on a plane. They were both going to a music festival in São Paulo. After chatting for the whole flight, they had a second chance meeting the the middle of 20,000 others at the festival itself. Then they were sat besides each other on the flight home. I guess you could say it was fate! As they met in their air, they wanted this to be reflected in their wedding, three years later.

“We wanted our wedding to celebrate our love and history”, said Julia. “We combined where we meet each other, where we fell in love and where we got married into our theme. We had a balloon flight between the mountains and the blue sky with our friends and family. ‘Love in the clouds’ was the inspiration.”

Malibu Beach Wedding During a Power Cut

modern Malibu beach wedding29

A power cut the morning of the wedding might be most couple’s worst nightmare, but Tyler and Jodi embraced it! The wedding was held at a private beach house in Malibu and the lack of power actually made their wedding even more special. Sure, they they had to get a bit creative with some aspects, such as the bride having to air-dry her hair, serving a BBQ for the meal and having no entertainment or music, but it really worked out so well! They even had candles and sparklers at the table which looked amazing!

“We both have very big families, but neither of us have ever wanted a huge wedding.”, they began. “We went back and forth on the idea of a big wedding and finally decided to stay true to ourselves. We even considered eloping, but realised we still wanted to party and celebrate with the people we love. In the end, we decided to invite only our parents, siblings, and closest friends to share the day. It was stress free, drama free, and ultimately so filled with love!”

Relaxed Gourmet Food Festival Wedding in South Africa: Rosie & Bryce

Non-wedding SA wedding Summertown Pictures 53

Rosie and Bryce had many influences for their South African wedding, but most of all they wanted a day that was fun and relaxed and one where there was plenty of good food!

“The inspiration for our wedding came from multiples sources”, began the bride. “Namely; our 5 years together in Dubai, my time living and working Venice, Italy and our travels there, the countless markets we’ve experienced, and most importantly our upbringing. We didn’t deviate drastically from the norm, but we definitely threw a celebration that was unusual in the South Africa context.”

“We took and executive decision from day one to separate the marriage ceremony from the reception. The former was attended only by immediate family while 145 guests joined us from 10:30am for a tea and cake, lunch and a boozy afternoon soiree which meandered its way deep into the night.”

Intimate Lakeside Vow Renewal: Hannah & James

Destination Wedding Photographer - Jordanna Marston-186

Hannah, a wedding photographer, and her husband James decided while on holiday in 2013 that they wanted to renew their vows. They decided to do it in France in July this year. They only brought their two children with them as witnesses, but having a great photographer was also really important to them. They booked  Jordanna Marston to go out with them from the UK. The ceremony took place on the banks of Biscarrosse Lac.

“We had talked about renewing our vows when we were on holiday in Slovakia in 2013”, began Hannah. “It was such a beautiful place, we were sat by a stunning lake surrounded by mountains, I knew then that I wanted to do our vows by the water somewhere gorgeous! We didn’t want a massive fuss or a party, it was more about us and how we felt about each other and of course our kids. I had a client tell me last year she was having a handfasting ceremony, so after looking it up I thought it was a lovely symbolism and we had Jake and Erin tie ribbons around mine and James’ hands.”
