Julia and Rogerio met on a plane. They were both going to a music festival in São Paulo. After chatting for the whole flight, they had a second chance meeting the the middle of 20,000 others at the festival itself. Then they were sat besides each other on the flight home. I guess you could say it was fate! As they met in their air, they wanted this to be reflected in their wedding, three years later.
“We wanted our wedding to celebrate our love and history”, said Julia. “We combined where we meet each other, where we fell in love and where we got married into our theme. We had a balloon flight between the mountains and the blue sky with our friends and family. ‘Love in the clouds’ was the inspiration.”
A power cut the morning of the wedding might be most couple’s worst nightmare, but Tyler and Jodi embraced it! The wedding was held at a private beach house in Malibu and the lack of power actually made their wedding even more special. Sure, they they had to get a bit creative with some aspects, such as the bride having to air-dry her hair, serving a BBQ for the meal and having no entertainment or music, but it really worked out so well! They even had candles and sparklers at the table which looked amazing!
“We both have very big families, but neither of us have ever wanted a huge wedding.”, they began. “We went back and forth on the idea of a big wedding and finally decided to stay true to ourselves. We even considered eloping, but realised we still wanted to party and celebrate with the people we love. In the end, we decided to invite only our parents, siblings, and closest friends to share the day. It was stress free, drama free, and ultimately so filled with love!”
Rosie and Bryce had many influences for their South African wedding, but most of all they wanted a day that was fun and relaxed and one where there was plenty of good food!
“The inspiration for our wedding came from multiples sources”, began the bride. “Namely; our 5 years together in Dubai, my time living and working Venice, Italy and our travels there, the countless markets we’ve experienced, and most importantly our upbringing. We didn’t deviate drastically from the norm, but we definitely threw a celebration that was unusual in the South Africa context.”
“We took and executive decision from day one to separate the marriage ceremony from the reception. The former was attended only by immediate family while 145 guests joined us from 10:30am for a tea and cake, lunch and a boozy afternoon soiree which meandered its way deep into the night.”
