Fairytales in DIY: A Purple Themed October Loch Wedding

They chose Venachar Lochside as the location for their stunning October wedding and Mazz and Alex made all their decisions for the day based on what did or did not spark joy. The bride wore a full purple/ dusky rose ensemble – from her Rosie Red Corsetry dress, painted shoes (which she did herself!) and even her freshly dyed hair. The flowers were a mix of purple and red, to compliment Alex’ tartan, and they had pumpkins all over the place to reflect the season.

“My dress was a nice dusky rose colour with a pale blue top corset to combine the colours in our two family tartans”, she explained. “I also LOVE fairies and fairytales, and my favourite story in the whole world is Peter Pan, so I painted an amended Peter Pan quote on my shoes, and asked Rosie to sew a crescent moon with some stars, and the second star to the right to be bigger than the rest as a reference. We also decorated the wishing well with pages from a fairy story book we found in a charity shop when we went to give notice, and used the same book to make our confetti cones.”

A Rock n Roll Bride’s Dream Wedding with DIY, Dogs & a Military Edge

Dan and Maddie spent two years planning for their August 2019 wedding, which enabled them to personalise their day throughout the planning process. They included their love of rock music, military, their dogs, board games, tattoos and glitter. All in all they put their focus of crafting a day that was unique to them, and to ensure their guests were well fed and well entertained!

“Rock n Roll Bride was a huge inspiration for our day,” explained Maddie. “All the different weddings on the blog showed us we could do things our way, and didn’t have to stick to one theme or idea if we didn’t want to! I ended up with the idea of styling the barn venue we hired in different ways to create different themed areas to suit different sides of our personalities. Overall we wanted a celebration of ourselves and our relationship. And for everyone to have a good time!”

Rustic Meets Rock n Roll Woodland Barn Wedding with a Woodland Fairy Bride

Leslie and Dillon both love hiking and camping, so knew they wanted an outdoorsy wedding from the get-go. With the help of family friends’ pasture land, complete with idyllic stream and woodland, and a $10,000 budget, the couple set about creating the natural, rustic day of their dreams.

They saved a lot of money because of how generous their family and friends were. “All you have to do is ask for help and generally people are more than happy to do so,” said Leslie. “Working with people you know is also a huge benefit because its easy to get in touch with them and they really know what want. It can save so much in the end if you opt out of wedding planners and just ask friends to help you with the organisation and planning.”
