Pom Poms, Succulents, Neon Cheesecakes & Californian Sun

This wicked shoot was put together by Bowman Nichols Event Consulting. They wanted to highlight the beauty of California’s Central Coast and the historic and rustic elegance of the Santa Margarita Ranch, but in a fun and fabulously colourful way. They put together a rustic feeling set up with the table in the field and the almost neon cake/flower table. “We were looking to craft a rustic feel pulling inspiration from the colour palate and style of the Carlisle linen pattern from BBJ Linen.  The concept was to accentuate a blend of traditional and non-traditional elements for the bride and groom, while staying with the feel of the venue in its rural tradition” they explained.

The couple they chose for the shoot was also very important to them as they wanted a pair that could pull of an alternative, edgy feel. “For the couple, we paired an edgy, big city, tattooed groom Josh, with a beautiful blonde, 1950’s inspired bride Natalie, for a Rock n Roll feel.  Natalie wore a vintage inspired, short lace gown by Alfred Angelo and western style cowboy boots.  To tie in the theme of color we chose large non-traditional jewellery embellished in turquoise with red and black accents to play up to her rockabilly groom.   The bouquet was a beautiful unique arrangement adorned with billy balls, kangaroo paw, and succulents pulling in the bright contrasting colour.”

Acid Brights

I found Olya & Denis’ wonderful anniversary shoot, taken by Russian photographer Zaporozhets Sergey and knew I had to feature it. I know someone is going to fall in love with this girl’s acid bright neon and purple Asya Zhukova dress and her fab homemade birdcage-style-veil. This shoot looks like an utter blast!

Edit: Be sure to check out their wedding video after the jump – it’s awesome!

Neon Boneyard, Tattooed Rockstars

Lindsey & Nate chose Vegas’ Neon Boneyard as the location for their radical engagement session and from Lindsey’s excitable email it sounds like their wedding is going to be off-the-hook too

We’ve decided it’ll be very US—off the cuff, a little startling, but still have those moments where you’d feel the need to sigh at the sheer romance of it all.  It’d be a whirlwind of crazy drinking and bringing family and friends together and looking FABULOUS and MOST OF ALL, having the best day of our life. Three of us at work started wedding planning at the same time and while they talked about chapel ceremonies and formal dinners they scoffed at my EMPHASIS on an open bar, chucks for the groomsmen, and the very mention that my maid of honor (my gay younger sister) would be in a tux rather than a dress –BLASPHEMY!!! I have no doubt in my mind though that my wedding and our great pics to always remember it by, will blow both of theirs outta the water.

I have no doubt in my mind though that my wedding and our great pics to always remember it by, will blow both of theirs outta the water. Nate and I chose to do our engagement photos here in Vegas at a venue I fell in love with on Chelsea’s page: the Neon Boneyard, where all the old Vegas signs are kept. It’s bright but rundown and captures Vegas perfectly and will be a great contrast to the relaxed Fall wedding (10/10/10 is XXX in roman numerals as Chelsea pointed out to us. SCANDALOUS, I love it!) we have planned at a Texas Vineyard. The pictures are being used for my Save the Date magnets, and shhh no one knows this yet, but the peacock headpiece will be a recurring hint for guests. The invitations will each be tied with a feather, and then the wedding has been based around the bright colors of the peacock mixed with the deep browns of fall. I guess I’m still somewhat of a traditional girl, and every bride needs something blue right? Thanks to Chelsea, Lindsey & Nate for sharing

Vintage Vegas

A change of plans didn’t seem to hinder Amanda & Jim’s vintage Vegas photo shoot. They originally planned to have their shoot at the Neon Graveyard (where the old Vegas neon signs go to retire) but due to construction work they had to rethink their ideas. Instead they opted for a whistle-stop tour of the city, stopping at many of the historic, iconic and hilarious (silly sunglasses stand!) sites to take some snaps.

Lady Diana

The awesome Marianne Taylor (who shot my pinky, punky princess shoot) just sent me a selection of her most recent engagement sessions and Sam & Adam’s jumped out at me right away. Not only have I got a unhealthy obsession with toy cameras right now (they used a Diana camera as a prop) but the couple are just to damn right funky for words.

ps you have until Sunday 25th October to get your entries in for the free wedding photography contest – open to all – WORLDWIDE wooooo!
