I posted a sneaky peak of this gorgeous wedding on both my Twitter and Facebook fan page a few days ago and have been simply dying to sharing more photographs and details of the whole shebang with you ever since! I am loving Steve’s sharp Lord Willy’s suit, Becca’s adorable Priscilla of Boston dress… and isn’t her bouquet one of the most amazing you’ve ever seen!?
Steve & Becca wanted a decidedly summery wedding and opted for Ash Mill Farm in New Hope PA for it’s gorgeous location and little personal quirks! (check out the animal photographs below – the one with the sheep may be one of my favourite wedding photographs ever!) The couple explained:
‘The animals on site added a really great energy to the event and there are so many small points of interest and areas to explore. And to top it all off the grounds are gorgeous and the owners are extremely accommodating and pleasant. We were really in love with the idea of having a small group of family and friends on the premises at the inn for the entire weekend too.’
They also really wanted to stick to their roots and so sourced honest, regional produce for their food and decor:
‘We’re both into food and wanted to showcase local summer produce, so peaches, corn, tomatoes, etc were a given. We also wanted it to have a bbq feel so we set up to have some grilling and other really simple preparations to really highlight the ingredients, and to serve most things family style to keep it casual. We got the artichoke flowers from a local farmer who to our knowledge is the only person on the east coast that grows them commercially. They’re so striking visually and have an intoxicating smell, we thought they would be really dramatic and fun to coordinate colour-scheme wise, and they made sense in regards to the local produce connection.’
All the details such as the invitations, place cards and centrepieces were handmade by the couple with help from their closest friends and family:
‘The menus were printed specifically for each table with a vintage artichoke illustration as well as a vintage illustration that corresponded to the table assignment and centerpiece. Each centepiece (bonsai tree – grown by Becca’s Uncle Barry) was adorned with a cutout or paper model of the animal or insect, and place cards (also printed at home on flashy 1960s patterns) were hung on twine between two trees with clothes pins and had the appropriate animal/insect stamped alongside the guests names. Favor cards were printed on the same patterns and left at each setting and asked the guests to take some pictures for themselves at the photobooth and to leave one for us. We made the programs at home and designed them as fans, with 6 sheets detailing the event, and left them on each chair for the ceremony. We wrote a care manual for the bonsai trees and taped one to the bottom of a chair at each table, and announced at the end of dinner that whoever had the card under their chair got to take the tree home. The aisle was lined with paper flowers that we made from a craft kit. The cake topper was made by becca and shows two birds kissing (hand felted by Becca) under a trellis with a sign saying “true love”. We got the cake from whole foods and decorated it with wild flowers and the cake topper. The invitations were also printed at home and had vintage-style knot drawings designed by Becca . We asked friends and family to make us something instead of giving us gifts.
