Mark Niemierko’s Valentine’s Party at Spencer Hart, London

Kat and Gareth Williams from Rock N Roll Bride

Last week Gareth & I were lucky enough to be invited to my friend Mark Niemierko’s annual Valentine’s party, this year held at Spencer Hart Tailors located on Saville Row in Mayfair (read: too posh for us, how the hell did we get invited?!). I wore a vintage pink 1950s prom dress for the occasion which I had picked up from my favourite vintage shop in all the land, Frock n Roll.

I love Mark more than words. He comments “My annual Valentine’s party allows the wedding industry a night off, to let their hair down and celebrate the hard work we’ve all put in.  As well as to look forward to the weddings in the year ahead.  A few previous Niemierko Grooms have chosen to wear Spencer Hart suits on their wedding day, upon visiting their new flagship store I instantly thought this would make a great party venue.  Perfectly located directly opposite one of my favourite hotels, Claridge’s, and diagonally opposite Vera Wang.  Brook Street is fast becoming a must visit location for all Brides and Grooms.”

..See, told you…posh…( ps i love how you can always easily spot me in a crowd haha!)

Gareth’s dream is to one day be able own one of the beauties on display.

As a little V-day treat, I thought you might like to see some photos (hello pink lighting – I like to think Mark did this in my honour…!) and the fabulous video. I was even interviewed for this one.

Last week I hung out at The Dorchester…at a party hosted by wedding planner Mark Niemierko…for Darcy Miller, editor of Martha Stewart magazine…oh and there were male models dressed as soldiers…not to mention the fact that I got to meet/chat to/be in the same room as to David Fielden, Charlotte Castigliano, Stephanie Allin, Sassi Holdford, Ritva Westenius, Suzanne Neville, Stewart Parvin, Phillipa Lepley, Elizabeth Emanuel, Bruce Oldfield and Johanna Heir.

Name dropping? Moi? In fact I have nothing else coherent to say about it really except…HOW THE EFF DID I GET INVITED?!

This will cover the process of planning, wedding etiquette, budgeting, bridal fashion and beauty, Q&A sessions and a typical food and drinks tasting within The Krug Room at the Dorchester. In addition, the course also covers how best to create a wedding day around a couple through a flower class and visit to Covent Garden flower market, mood boards, production design, selecting tableware, furniture, lighting and entertainment. The days are broken down into concise classes, between which breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and the odd glass of champagne will be served.”

Happy Valentine’s Day – Smooooooozing and Swanning Around The Mark Niemierko & Browns Bride Valentine’s Party

After Tuesday’s wedding blogger’s shoot came Mark Niemierko‘s Valentine’s Party, hosted by Caroline Burstein of Browns Bride (pictured above). Let me get one thing straight here… I was more than a little bit surprised to receive an invite to such an event.

“Seriously? Me? a pink (well rainbow) haired slightly-punky-in-no-way ‘high end’ wedding blogger…really?! You want ME so come and cover the event? Erm… OK then” Was pretty much the thought process I had when the invitation landed through my door.

So it was with some trepidation that I headed to Browns Bride in Marylebone, London on Tuesday evening accompanied by a couple of the girls also involved in the blogger’s shoot. We were a little late (photo shoots never run to time + taxi fail!) but as soon as I arrived a cocktail was thrust in my hand (hey, I could get used to this!) and Mark excitedly told me all about what was going on…who I simply must meet…why he was so excited to be working with wedding bloggers…and which dresses I should try on (OK I made that last bit up. The room was filled with Oscar de la Renta, Monique Luillier, Peter Langner, Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang, a girl can dream right?!)

It was great to meet so many people including Helen, the bride-to-be who won my competition to attend (well now she’s a newlywed as she got married on Saturday…and yes I’ve told he she must send me the photos. After hearing all about her plans I am very excited to see them indeed!)

But that’s not all. I am thrilled to reveal that not only did they actually let me in the door (!) but Mark commissioned the fabulous Allora Visuals to create a special behind the scenes video EXCLUSIVELY (yeah big letters…I’m that excited) for Rock n Roll Bride. That’s pretty darn ace huh! You won’t see this video anywhere else. Rock n Roll Bride is where it’s at baby…

(You should spot a familiar face at about 1 min 39!)

I’m a little bit gutted that I wasn’t able to get in the interview video (boohoohoo I hate being late) but luckily for you lot, Mark still sent it over to me so share with you all.

…And, in case you’re interested, my perfect Valentine’s Day would be pink champagne, a thai take away and a movie marathon with Gareth & the kittens. And my prediction for 2011 wedding trends would be that we’ll be seeing a lot more opulence and extravagance in weddings, but still with quirky, DIY and Rock n Roll touches. It will definitely still be all about the personal details and putting your own stamp on your wedding day… just with a little bit of Marie Antoinette thrown in for good measure!

Be sure to check out all the photos…this is the wedding elite right here…and me! haha

A Sunday Kind of Love – WIN Tickets to Mark Niemierko’s Valentine’s Party at Browns Bride!

This contest is now closeed

This week I was lucky enough to meet the legendary wedding planner Mark Niemierko. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about meeting him as I really didn’t know what to expect… or why a celebrity/high end wedding planner would want to meet me. However I’m pleased to report back that we got on like a house on fire! I seriously love this dude. He may be the planner du jour to the stars and I may be the punk rock chick with funny coloured hair and one to many tattoos, but over a couple of Cosmopolitans and a lot of gossip, I realised we’re very very similar indeed! I have since decided that we are best friends…and yes I do mean this in a stalkery kind of way.

Every year Mark hosts an exclusive Valentine’s Party, and this years celebration is to be held THIS TUESDAY (8th February) at Browns Bride, London. I’ll be there (what more could you want!?) as will a whole host of the most exciting and influential wedding industry glitterati (I’ve also heard on good authority that mark will be sporting something velvet. Ooh lala.)

This is a strictly invite only event.

Mark Niemierko in collaboration with Browns Bride and Rock n Roll Bride would like to offer one lucky reader, two tickets for the party of the season. All you have to do to enter is comment below and let us know why you’d like to come. This contest is open to all readers of Rock n Roll Bride – brides to be, photographers, other industry professionals, general wedding obsessives – so get entering!

As the party is in just two days time you must be quick! This contest closes tomorrow (Monday 7th) at midnight and the winner will be announced on the blog tuesday at 9am!

The winner will be chosen by Rock n Roll Bride & Mark Niemierko. Judges decision is final.

Winners will be notified by email on Tuesday morning. If you enter, please check your email early so I can get you & your guest’s full names added to the guest list of the party right away! This is an exclusive, invite only event.
