October 15, 2012

"I don’t like your typical styled shoot," wrote wedding photographer Brooke Davis. "I just I have to come clean here. I decided that if I do one it has to be different." And different is what Brooke does best. Not just 'Ohh let's throw a few random things together from a decided 'theme' and see what works... like, hum... how about a goth wedding shoot? we haven't seen anyone do that for a while... Or what's the latest movie blockbuster, can that become a wedding shoot? That will be sooo popular on wedding blogs'.

An 18th Century & Marie Antoniette Inspired Indonesian Wedding: Cindy & Sebastian

Kat

October 4, 2012

I saw this wedding and I instantly fell in love - with the location, with dress and with Cindy & Sebastian themselves. Prepare to be transported into wedding inspo heaven... The Indonesian wedding was held at St Laurentius church with the reception that followed at Maxi's Cafe in Bandung. The couple were inspired by 18th century french opulence and Marie Antoniette for their theme. They transformed their reception venue into the Gardens of Versailles. "Marie Antoinette has been an inspiration to me since I was very young", explained Cindy. "I remember buying a lot of things related to Marie Antoinette, like grayish blue color apparels, pictures and even cakes that reminded me of her. That is why I chose to take my cue from her on my wedding theme. I searched and decided on things mostly on my own - decorations, flowers, my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding cake, accessories and ambiance music. I loved how our wedding was filled with details that go back to her era."

A Marie Antoinette Style Gothic Fairytale: Stan & Lotti

that tap into this theme. But I think Lotti is the best example of a Marie Antoinette bride since... well... me! In fact I think she actually steals my crown. The pantaloons, the white/grey hair, the shoes... her look is just perfect! "I’m an alternative model in my spare time and I've always been creative in my appearance so I was never going to go for something conventional for my wedding!" began the bride. "I’m very into period costume and I love the spectacular dress of the court of Versailles at the time of Marie Antoinette so I thought I would recreate some of the decadence and indulgence of the court for our big day! We chose the blue and white theme as this shade of blue was one of Marie Antoinette’s favourites. The toile de jouy fabric of the bridemaids dresses was also popular in Europe at the time. Kiku Boutique in Manchester dressed us all."

A Marie Antoinette Inspiration

March 23, 2011

You know I've got a bit of a 'thing' for Marie Antoinette right? Well Marie Antoinette + pink hair couldn't really be more perfect for Rock n Roll Bride if it tried could it? "This is what happened when 2 crazy photographers from different states in Australia put their heads together," began photographer Vanessa. "It all started with a wig Rhondda found on the internet (not the 1 we used actually) and after many chats and emails later we came up with Marie Antoinette as a bride. I wanted a bouquet out of the norm and didn't really want traditional flowers in it. What better florists to put my thoughts of an "APPLE" bouquet into something fab.."Velvetlily" florist. So after a talking to them about want I wanted they came up with this amazing result! I also wanted apples and vine in the hair!!..a bit of a task for the make-up artist but we got there in the end."

“Rock n Revolution” – A Parisian Punk Rock Marie Antoinette Photo Shoot… The Final Results!

Kat

October 18, 2010

A few months ago photographer David McNeil and I were sat in a Creperie in London. He turned to be and said, "Let's do another photo shoot and let's make it the best yet... Let's go to Paris!" It's hard to believe how far we've come since that from that first whimsical conversation and really that we actually managed to pull it off - to hop over the channel and channel my inner Marie Antoinette! Well, if I do say so myself, we not only pulled it off but we SMASHED it! I am actually so blown away by the whole experience (and the results) that I kind of don't really know where to start..maybe the beginning would help?

Rock n Revolution – A Parisian Sneak Peek Part 1

Kat

October 13, 2010

Yes, that is how excited I am to share this. As most of you will know I headed over to gay Parieeee this week for the shoot to end all shoots, and BOY did it deliver. As you can probably see, the theme was punk rock Marie Antoinette and the props the stylist sourced were amazing. The dresses were super impressive (although I'll be honest, I was a little afraid of them - they were BIG!) I got papped by more tourists than I'd like to count and was asked to appear in a French music video! I am a total Paris convert and will demand that Gareth takes me there again tout de suite!
