Vintage Inspired Wedding at the Battersea Arts Centre

Lydia and Nico met through Bumble – “Not the most glamorous of relationship starts,” she laughed, “but I’m sure similar for a lot of couples these days! I was known as ‘Lydia 🐝’ in Nico’s phone for at least a year – which had a double meaning when it came to designing our invitations. I used the iconic bee from the mosaic floors in the Battersea Arts Centre, our venue, but one bridesmaid thought it was to represent Bumble! A happy coincidence.”

The beauty of Battersea Arts Centre was all the couple really needed when it cam eto deciding on a theme for their July wedding. It was also important to the bride to have as much vintage in the day as possible – her outfit was a picture of vintage and family heirlooms, and all of her bridesmaids wore vintage dresses in gorgeous sunset colours. “The floral embroidery in my 1919 jacket provided a starting point when choosing the flowers for my bouquet, the bridal party and the decor on the day. The jacket was originally worn by an English gentleman marrying his Indian wife, which was more than appropriate as my husband is half Indian! Too perfect for words.”

Autumnal & Rustic, Cruelty Free London Wedding

Sam and Jay always planned to be married on Halloween – because every Halloween since they first met nine years ago on a dating site, they have played host to a fancy-dress party and people now expect it of them. Jay’s grandparents also got married on Halloween, so they wanted to follow the tradition.

Unfortunately COVID scuppered their plans for a big fancy dress ball where the theme would have been ‘anything goes’ (including both grooms in custom-designed wedding dresses!) but they were still able channel the Halloween vibes with autumnal tones, pumpkin centrepieces and hessian and lavender mixed in too – they even had burnt orange facemasks for the bridal party, so no detail was left unconsidered.

Classic & Simple Autumn Wedding Planned in Just Five Weeks

Did you know – the average engagement, from proposal to walking down the aisle in the UK is 20 whole months? From securing a date at the venue you’ve been dreaming of since you were little to purchasing a made to order dress, not to mention the tiny detail of y’know – saving up enough to pay for the whole thing, there are a lot of different reasons why this might be the case. But what if you don’t care about any of that stuff and just want to be married already?

It can be done, and Jade and George are testament to just this – they were engaged in mid September, and married by the end of October! As long as you can get an appointment to give your legally required 28 days notice, you can get married in the year thereafter at any point you choose!

Fun London Wedding with Neon, Gin and a Pie & Mash Lunch!

The main priority for Chris and Nat’s September wedding day was for them to host a really fun party that had little nods to all the things that they both love. They were also really keen to keep things local; part logistics for all their guests, and part because after many years of travelling around, they’ve finally put down roots in London so it seemed like an excellent idea to celebrate the city that they hold so dear.

The couple decided to turn a lot of wedding traditions on their head for their wedding day. The idea of spending the night before the wedding apart didn’t make any sense for Nat and Chris – so they spent the morning together at a hotel, went for a lovely, relaxed breakfast and a wander – before heading back to their hotel to get ready, to find some friends waiting for them with champagne! They then hotfooted it across London to various favourite locations for photos, including stopping off at L.Manze – London’s oldest pie and mash shop – for a pre-ceremony lunch before heading to their ceremony together. “We love now that all the places we went to that day we see regularly going about our day to day life and we get to have little reminders of our day.”

Budget Friendly London Wedding with Garden Party Reception

Luke and Aida’s June 2019 wedding was held at George Meehan House in London, followed by barbecue reception at Aida’s parents house – thankfully, the weather was on their side!  They opted for a small wedding, as they never wanted to spend a fortune on their wedding day. In fact, they think they spent about £1400 in total!

With a whole lotta help from family and friends, they put together an intimate day with personal touches where important to them, and lost whatever from a traditional wedding that didn’t sit right!

Punk Rock Inspired Wedding with a Tattoo Shop Reception!

Music is a huge part of Silja and Andy’s everyday lives – Andy plays in a band professionally, and the couple met when he was playing at a psychobilly festival. Their love of swing, jazz, punk rock and psychobilly influences everything in their life including their everyday style, so there was no question that this is the styling they would choose for their intimate London wedding in December 2018.

Silja wore a custom dress from Lace Marry via Etsy. She paired it with her signature burgundy velvet high sole creepers by TUK Footwear, and a birdcage veil also from Etsy. Andy wore an outfit borrowed by their best man’s extensive vintage clothing collection.
