A DIY Disney Themed Wedding with Cats, Glitter, Tattoos & Elvis: Paco & Lacey

If someone were to ask me to list all of my favourite things, nearly everything in this wedding would feature: cats, tattoos, Disney, ears, pink, 80s tunes, glitter… I mean goodness, what’s not to love?! The wedding was held at Union/Pine in Portland, in December.

“Early on in the planning process we struggled with whether we needed a theme or not”, explained Lacey. “Ultimately we decided that the theme should be ‘us’ and the decisions came much easier after that. We didn’t feel any pressure to choose things that would fit snuggly in to a strict theme. Instead our ‘us’ theme meant that we included any and all of the things that make us happy including Disneyland, Elvis, our loved ones, tattoos, sprinkles, our favorite cocktails, photobooths, our cats, hearts, zombies, incredible food, 80s music, balloons, confetti, sparklers and so much more.”

Playful, Glittery & Kawaii Wedding at the Madonna Inn: Suzi & Spencer

Anna Delores Photo_Madonna Inn wedding_0210

Suzi and Spencer’s Madonna Inn wedding was inspired by all the things they love, “Persian-American mod-podged in glitter and influenced by kawaii” was how they described it to me! A lot of things they made themselves included the glittery table numbers and escort cards and the brooch flowers used in with the real flowers in the bouquets and centrepieces!

“I’m first-generation Iranian, so we decided to have a Persian wedding”, Suzi explained. “Spencer is from Washington, so we also wanted to include traditional wedding customs which we personalized. We started with a colorful and playful animated Save the Date film that poked fun at our differences. We had a hand in all of the design elements, including the invitations. Spencer designed an emblem of a cat and an orca, inspired by our personalities and Haida art from the Pacific Northwest.”

DIY Tutorial: Ombre Glitter Champagne Glasses

ombre-glitter-glass-diy-rock-n-roll-bride1

When it came to planning how to style my recent champagne party, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to flex my creative muscles. Now I’m no expert, in fact I’m darn right rubbish at DIY projects, and I’m certainly not a professional stylist either. But I knew if I just kept things simple and threw glitter at it, it would probably work out in the end.

Luckily Sophie was on hand to help me and look at what we made! Pretty huh!?

Supplies Needed

♥ Champagne glasses (I got mine from Morrisons for 60p each!)
Mod Podge glue
♥ Your choice of glitter in at least two colours
♥ Brush

Method

Step one: Use the brush to cover the stem and base of the champagne glass in Mod Podge. This is the best glue to use because it’s a glue, sealer and varnish in one, although I’m sure any old PVA would work.

A Glittery, Colourful & Fun-Filled DIY Wedding: Rich & Fran

Rich and Fran chose Romsey Town Hall as the venue for their April wedding. They wanted a day that was fun and personal but didn’t break the bank. With a lot of help from friends and family and a truckload of DIY, they created a wedding day that was the perfect reflection of them and their love.

“Our wedding was defined by our families and friends and the huge amount they supported us”, began the bride. “We are both very close to our families and our friends are just like a little family to us too. From start to finish our wedding was a real team effort. Having my grandma, aunts and uncles making pompoms the week before and then turning up to the venue the day before the wedding to see my oldest friend hanging them up with my cousins was really humbling. On top of that my Mum pretty much organised the whole thing and my Dad made nearly everything. We owe them so much and are so incredible grateful. They didn’t say no to any of our crazy ideas, even though at first they weren’t convinced by us eating lasagne and curry (our favourite meals) or having a male bridesman.”

The Cutest Rock n Roll Picnic

Yes, yes yes this post is heeeuge. Photographer Shannon sent me a little sneaky peak of Josiah & Dana’s engagement session and I swooned as soon as I saw the shot with the silver glittery curtain behind them…but then I saw the coffee shop they started in, the photo booth shots and the cutest Rock n Roll picnic ever and I was smitten.

“This couple is sooooooooooooo cool.” Shannon told me. “Like, truly, I went away from the session thinking “Man, I have to start being cooler” because they were literally too cool. Oh, and they have great style.”

“We started at a local coffee shop, one that hosts underground bands and indie music and art shows. This space had so much character and we really spent way more time there than we intended because it was fun and completely different than the normal coffee shop vibe! We even took photobooth pictures, and pictures of them taking photobooth pictures. Then we went to a woodsy area (a secret spot of mine) and they set up a little rock n roll picnic. They brought a record player and some vinyl records, beer bottles as flower vases, cupcakes (YUM), and a few of their favorite books. Overall, it was probably one of the cutest picnics I’ve seen. Plus we all love cupcakes so that was a perk.”
