Winter Forest Bridal Shoot

Margherita&TheFallFlowerCrown-by-Cinzia-Bruschini09

Are you planning to have a bridal shoot? It’s actually something I’m seeing less and less of these days, but if you’re so inclined, I think they’re so much fun! Hell, I loved doing them so much that I started a blog so I had somewhere to publish them!

These photos, sent over by Italian wedding photographer Cinzia Bruschini are so beautiful. I adore the woodland setting, the flower crown, the vintage dresses and the gorgeous autumnal light.

“We wanted to celebrate the arrival of Winter in a splendid beech wood, near a small abandoned village about an hour from our house”, wrote Cinzia. “It’s an extraordinary place and the colours mixing with the sun’s rays at sunset created a magical look.”

“Margherita was a wonderful and unique model. She is very expressive and was able to communicate a great deal, even though we only had a little time available.”

The Festival Wedding to End All Festival Weddings: Charlie & Kane

festival_wedding_viva-282

I’ve seen a lot of festival inspired weddings in my time, but I think it’s safe to say that none of them have been as so naturally cool as this one! Not only do Charlie and Kane both ooze awesome, but their dinner set up has to be one of the most beautiful ever. At their reception site, a field behind the bride’s parent’s house, they had a Bedouin tent and one huge, long table for their 150 guests to eat at. Thank goodness it didn’t rain!

The couple met in London, Kane is from New Zealand and they now live in Australia but they wanted to get married back in the UK. “All I wanted was to eat at one single table in the middle of my favourite field, like a big family meal for our big extended worldwide family”, began the bride. “I also wanted everyone to come for the whole weekend since we’re not back in the UK very often and one afternoon was never going to be long enough to see everyone properly – hence the bell tents!”

Rock n Roll Bride for Crown and Glory: Autumn/Winter 2013

Crown & Glory Rock n Roll Bride Collection header

Not content with just doing one collection together, Sophie of Crown and Glory and I decided early on in our collaboration that an Autumn/Winter range would need to be on the cards. Of course I love the rainbow, neon pop insanity of the first collection but I was also really excited to get a little bit deep, dark and moody for this second incarnation.

I am not one of those girls that looks forward to ‘Fall’. My neon loving self absolutely hates when the shops start to get full of chunky knits, winter boots, burgundy, forest green and mustard (yuk!) These colours just aren’t my bag at all. However I am a bit of a closet goth at heart, and this time of year I pretty much revert back to wearing all black (with a dash of glitter so I don’t get too depressed). I am so completely obsessed with this Timeless Plum Maybelline lip stain (see!?)

Black, gold, grey and glitter I can get on board with, so this was the starting point and inspiration for this collection. This is Autumn/Winter fashion for those that hate Autumn/Winter fashion!

Sophie

Sophie is a true original. Her creativity knows no bounds and her only limit is her imagination! Always game for a laugh she’s never one to turn down a party invitation… as long as she can wear something big and glittery on her head!

Elbie

Elbie is fun, feisty and loves to experiment with fashion and style. Her hair changes colour more often than anyone I know and her make up is anything but conventional. A little bit punk, with a smidge of old school goth, Elbie is a babe that loves to stand out from the in-crowd.

Laid Back Weekend Wedding: Rebecca & Bentley

7.avenocturna

Rebecca and Bentley’s low key and relaxed wedding was held at Celebrations in Moseley, Virginia. They had a full weekend of festivities, starting with a picnic on Saturday, a brunch together on the Sunday morning and the wedding ceremony and main reception on the Sunday afternoon.

“We wanted a wedding that was laid back, light and airy, so we tried to reflect that in the decorations, music and food”, explained the bride. “It also happened to fall on Bastille Day, so we had a sort of French theme as well. We loved the whole vibe of our day. Everyone had such a good time and still talks about how much fun they had. We have friends and family who are still telling us it’s the best wedding they went to, and that’s because we wanted to make sure our guests really had an awesome time. We made a whole weekend out of it so by the time of the wedding, people who had never previously met were hanging out, dancing, and having a great time!”

Happy Sunday you beautiful creatures! I wanted to pop by today to just say a huge thank you and to share some love for everyone who’s ordered, instagrammed or blogged about my little headpiece collection. Sophie and I have been BLOWN AWAY by the response – so much so that the day we launched was Crown and Glory’s biggest day for orders EVER and in the first few days alone she used over 12,000 gems making all the pieces that had been purchased. WHOA!

Thank you to all these babeing bloggers who’ve mentioned or featured the collection. I love you!

Get Your Glitter On: Rock n Roll Bride for Crown and Glory Headpiece Collection!

Crown & Glory Rock n Roll Bride Collection cover

I’ve been a Crown and Glory obsessive ever since I first saw her beautiful pieces on the pages of a glossy magazine. I distinctively remember being sat on a busy train flicking through Company and being stopped in my tracks (boom, boom!) as I saw her gorgeous flower crowns and glitter bows in one of their fashion editorials. So not to forget to check them out online later, I snapped a photo and tweeted “Note to self, check out @crownandglory_!”

After a few months of tweeting back and forth, Sophie and I finally met in real life at a workshop I was hosting. When she came in with that flash of purple hair, giant glitter bow plonked firmly on her head I knew we were kindred spirits.

So, about six months ago, when an email pinged into my inbox from her asking if I’d consider designing a range of headpieces with her… well, she didn’t have to ask me twice! She basically told me to let my imagination run wild and that she’d take care of making it a reality. Talk about my dream job!

I have been in my element with this project. An ombre glitter bow was my first idea… I’m obsessed with ombre anything and well, anyone who knows anything about me will be well aware of my infatuation with all things sparkly.
