1920s Stylee Speakeasy Wedding

I’ve got a second British post for your today – and this time it’s Miriam & Bruce’s art deco/speakeasy/1920s-30s inspired wedding. The event took place at The Brickhouse, Brick Lane, London which is in the heart of the city’s uber cool East End and was complete with monochromatic colour scheme, gambling tables and cheeky burlesque entertainment. Miriam & Bruce had a humanist ceremony in front of their guests before kicking off a night of unashamed debauchery! Female guests were treated to a black or white feather fan on arrival, and the gents mini bottles of Jack Daniels and chocolate cigars.

Miriam wore a dress and ostrich feather shrug from the fabulous Joanna Fleming Design and birdcage veil from Jane Taylor Millinery.

Goth ‘n Grunge

The dark feel of this trash the dress shoot is pretty damn fabulous huh? I am loving Michelle’s black fishnets, patent shoes and feathers in her hair – they certainly make for a grungy edge to the shoot. Michelle even made a dead flower bouquet to really empathise the gothic-esque feel.

♥ For those of you who don’t follow me on facebook or twitter, I was featured in Cosmopolitan Bride magazine this month! I didn’t know Miranda the lovely Editor was planning on mentioning me so I got way too over excited to see myself in there! To celebrate this quite frankly amazing issue – the best I’ve ever seen from them – and with the magazine’s consent, I’ll be scanning and sharing some of my favourite pages from the mag sometime over the weekend so that all of my lovely American readers can see what they’re missing out on!  Thanks again to Miranda and her fabulous team!

♥ Aaand Woo! the Maggie Sottero website used a photo and bio of me in my dress! I submitted it thinking it may be a bit too ‘out-there’ for them but seems I doubted them wrongly – Maggie you rock!

Glamorous Art Deco

Jill & Andrew knew they wanted an Art Deco style wedding as soon as they got engaged. Jill in particular really looked the part in her Priscilla of Boston dress, gorgeous custom birdcage veil from Unveiled Bridal Designs, stunning necklace by Ranjana Khan and customised J Crew shoes.

Jill told me all about their day:
Andrew and I both love the Art Deco period of art, fashion and music. From the first moment he proposed with an estate amethyst rose gold ring from the 1940s (Louisiana), we knew our wedding would be vintage inspired. We love black and ivory and used these colors to create our classic wedding story. Peacock feathers, swing music, and birdcage veils for the belles of the bride all set the stage for our soiree. We fell in love with Savannah because of the ornate iron work, stunning mansions, Southern & European charm and historic standing. Savannah itself represents both of our roots, myself being from Georgia, and Andrew from England. The Mansion provided the perfect backdrop. Both being foodies, we chose tiers of artisan cheese to create our wedding cake from Murray’s in New York City.
