Running off to Las Vegas

When Benjamin and Georgina decided to marry, they didn’t want to wait. So they flew over to Las Vegas to do it on their own terms. “Benjamin is in a band so we don’t get very much time together, due to his touring schedule”, said Georgina. “So for us, being married was the most important thing.”

“Benjamin spent the nine weeks leading up to the wedding touring in Australia and the US, so not only were we apart, but on different time zones. At the end of his tour I flew out from London and he flew from Florida to both meet up in Vegas, which was the most romantic, crazy and surreal experience!”

“We chose Vegas for the lights (I’m obsessed with neon, thanks to Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet, probably the greatest film of all time). It was somewhere we’d always wanted to experience, and we hadn’t even been on holiday abroad together before this trip, so the time leading up to the wedding day made for lots of insane memories.”

Colourful Runaway Elopement

If you really don’t have a lot of money to spend, or you literally just want to run away and get married, then Laura and James’ colourful runaway elopement is going to be so inspiring for you!

“Our wedding was relaxed and bright!” said Laura. “Really early on we talked about the fact that we wanted to run away and get married in secret. We had never even really considered a normal wedding. We talked about inviting our parents but then decided that if we did that we’d have to invite brothers and sisters… and if they were invited we would have to invite their partners… But then I would feel bad not inviting our best friends and their partners… And then it would feel harsh not ti invite more family and before you know it we’d have 100 people ‘running away’ with us! We just had to be strict and keep it at zero guests. It was really difficult to keep it a secret from everybody we know!”

“We didn’t tell anyone we’d got married until that evening, the first to know were our parents over video chat. My mum had always suspected we would run off and get married in secret so she was not upset in the slightest, just happy for us! James’ mum also said she had suspected we might have been getting married in secret. I was over the moon with their reactions and pleased that they had their suspicions beforehand so it wouldn’t have been a total shock!”

The day was held at Lower Barns, a B&B in Cornwall. “We got married in a shed! Its officially called the Wed Shed and it is adorable! It could just about fit seven of us in (me and James, two registrars, two witnesses and our photographer, Alexa) so was very cosy. It was the definition of intimate, there were candles lit, an old school table and quirky chairs. I have to be honest I don’t remember the ceremony much and I am glad for the photos as it was a short time, and although we didn’t have a big audience, I still felt a little nervous! But it was lovely in the end and the best part is that we were officially married at the end of it!”

secret las vegas wedding (40)

I promise you this isn’t a staged photo shoot, it’s really Jason and Aimee’s wedding! Are these guys the actual coolest or what!? They were hitched in secret in Vegas last October.

“We met at a coffee shop where I was working”, explained Aimee. “Jason has just moved back to Brisbane. Our wedding was themed around old school Hollywood glam… but in Vegas!”

“We were inspired by the desert and the appeal of the intimacy of just the two of us. We loved that it was just about us and we loved walking the streets of Vegas at night, madly in love.”

The ceremony was held at The Little White Chapel. “Elvis sang us down the aisle. The room was perfect! Like something out of a Tarantino film… And it was just us, best friends, promising one another that we would no longer have to walk alone.”

A Romantic Glass Chapel Ceremony

A Romantic Glass Chapel Ceremony (51)

Chris and Patrick’s romantic wedding was very small. They had only a handful of guests, mostly family.

“The only inspiration I had was that I wanted the wedding to be just about us, our love and our family”, the bride said. “We wanted everything to be simple. This was actually our second wedding because we originally ran away and eloped in Vegas, just the two of us! We went off to Arkansas to get married in the woods, in the fall surroundings with just a few people who are the most important to us (including our kids) there.”

The ceremony was held inside a glass chapel. “The Thorncrown Chapel is set inside the woods and it was so beautiful with all the fall colours. We attend the Unity Church of Peace back home which I tend to describe as the best little hippie church around, we are very much all about peace and love! We found a local minister who worked for the local Unity Church and she performed a very touching and personal ceremony for us.”

Super Cool Las Vegas Elopement

Eleanor and Youssef eloped in Vegas, just the two of them and their photographer, Briana Morrison. They didn’t have a reception but they went for dinner at the Picasso and the went to
see Cirque Du Soleil ‘O’ in the evening followed by cocktails at the Bank night club before going back to their suite.

“I didn’t know anything about wedding planning before we began and I don’t really know anything about it now!”, the bride laughed. “The inspiration for our wedding was to just get dressed up and have fun. Obviously there wasn’t really a theme, unless you count not inviting anyone and doing whatever we wanted all day!”

The bride’s amazing dress was vintage and from the 1930s. “It was gold Lamé and I bought it from Elizabeth Avey in London. My shoes were gold YSL ‘Tribute’ sandles.”

“There were five people at the ceremony – Youssef and myself, the Pastor, Ruby (the wedding planner at the Bellagio), and the hotel photographer who acted as our witness. I walked down the aisle to Kiss From a Rose by Seal, we said our vows (laughing throughout) and walked out together with Viva Las Vegas as our exit song. After the ceremony we had a few hours before we were due to meet Briana for the photo shoot so we went to the lobby bar in our hotel where we met couple from Texas who has been married 25 years before on the same day. They had also eloped and we shared a bottle of champagne with them and they told us about their marriage and their children.”

Icelandic Elopement Planned in a Month

IcelandElopementJNSVision-59

No country seems to lend itself more to dramatic wedding photographs than Iceland. That landscape is just begging for moody and beautiful couple shots. So when Lauren proposed to Gareth just a month before the date, she asked him specifically if he’d like to elope there.

“Only a month before actually getting married in Iceland, I sat Gareth down at a local cafe, and asked him if he would like to act on our high soaring love for each other”, Lauren explained. “I asked if he would like to marry me in Iceland, a place that we had both dreamed about visiting. Just the two of us and some of mother nature’s finest creations. To my great relief, he said yes.”

“I took it upon myself to do some research about getting married in Iceland. Gareth and I had decided that we wanted to get married in the striking, yet simple, Budir Church on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It seemed the perfect place for us to exchange our vows. Tucked away behind broken crevices in the earth and surrounded by knee length grass dancing in the wind and a backdrop of sea, mountains and a dramatic sky.”
