If a simple, emotional and beautiful wedding is what you’re after, then let me introduce you to Pieter and Noortje. Married in the Botanical Gardens in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, their wedding had a natural, organic and bohemian vibe. Their reception was held at De Waard van Kekerdom, a bar in Kekerdom, where they had a simple meal followed by an after party!
“We tried to make our wedding as personal as possible, with our own camper, a choir of 30 family members in the church and the band from the cafe where we met each other”, explained the bride. “We had our ceremony in a garden and afterwards had a simple but delicious meal at a not too fancy but very cosy restaurant. We didn’t want anything to be too cliché, we just tried to make it simple but very personal. A lot of our retro bohemian hippie kind of taste came through too, as well as our love for nature and being outside.”
This hippy-esque countryside shoot was set up by wedding photographer Camilla Rosa. who really wanted to shoot an emotional set that perfectly reflected the couple in it. Jesse and Charlie live in a hut on the banks of a river with no electricity, sing in a band, home made pretty much everything and only wear charity shop or home made clothes – so her idea was perfect for them!
“I wanted to have the opportunity to shoot a ‘wedding’ in my own style, the way my hands and head tell me intuitively to do it”, Camilla wrote. “So I called upon the most in-love people I know to help me out, Jesse and Charlie, who I knew fitted with the way I naturally love to shoot. As a couple they are just cool, and totally unaware of it, mainly because that is how they were brought up and this is who they are.”
Getting married in a village called Lover has got to be some kind of augury for a loving and wonderful marriage right? It also makes for some pretty damn cute photos! Benji and Sally’s amazing homespun wedding just oozed L.O.V.E. Married in the local church, the reception took place in the old vicarage gardens, the bride’s parent’s home, in two tipis which they rented for the occasion.
“The whole day was amazing! It was the best day of our lives,” Sally began. “I love the fact that my family and friends were so involved. Benji and I took the week before the wedding off work and drove down to the Old Vic from Brighton. I’m one of six children my parents are kind, loving, amazing people and famous for a good party. Everybody worked all week non-stop before the wedding to make it the great day it was, and we can never thank them enough for making it so perfect. It feels like the day belongs to them as much as it does to us. The whole wedding process has definitely brought us closer to our friends and family which is definitely one of my favourite parts!”
