Western Inspired Micro Wedding at Home

Harry and Abi, affectionately known as Habi by their friends and family, planned for the big 2020 wedding which was obviously scuppered due to a little thing called the COVID-19 pandemic. However, not wanting to wait a whole year to be legally married, they kept that August 24th date and did the micro wedding thing, with an intimate ceremony at Chelmsford Register Office followed by a small, government-approved outside gathering for just a few people in their back garden.

“With everything going on with COVID and having to postpone our big wedding, we just wanted to get married and have some fun with our family”, the bride told us. “This meant that we only had to focus on the little things that really mattered!”

“We already had the registry office booked as our main wedding venue is outdoors and not licenced. We thought the ceremony would be super quick and impersonal but the registrars were really lovely and made the ceremony wonderful. We both cried the entire time, which we weren’t expecting, and that was mixed in with a lot of laughter.”

A Simple & Sweet Covid-Friendly Elopement with Creative Photos and Bottomless Brunch

Gema and Matt’s original wedding was June 7th, on their five year anniversary, for which they’d planned to wed in New York City, honeymoon in Kuala Lumpur and Bali and then have a big pub reception back home afterwards. Although they still plan to have another big wedding next year, they really didn’t want to have to wait a whole year to be legally husband and wife.

On August 22nd they had a registry office ceremony at home in Leeds, followed by a portrait session with their photographers and bottomless brunch. They spent just £1000 (£2500 if you count the rings!)

Eco-Friendly Covid-Safe Backyard Wedding in Chicago

Rachel and Derrick were married in March in Charlottesville, where they’d just moved the day before. In August they had a second day in the bride’s mother’s garden in Chicago.

“We originally planned a backyard wedding at my mother’s house in the suburbs of Chicago”, the bride explained, “but shortly after our plans were solidified, Derrick accepted a job in Virginia and I lost my job in the hasty mid-quarantine move. Since it’s inadvisable to forgo health insurance during a pandemic, we decided to get legally wed the day after got to our new home”.

Six months later, they went ahead with the Chicago backyard wedding they always wanted. As they were planning from the other side of the country, the bride’s detail-orientated mum planned a lot of the day for them alongside Chicago Vintage Weddings who they rented farm tables, vineyard chairs, Persian rug, and Moroccan poufs from.
