Autumn Leaves

Oh yes, yet another autumn/fall/Halloween wedding for you lucky lucky people, but this one couldn’t be further away in style from the last. Darby & Eric got married at Heritage Park in Dana Point California on October 3rd 2009 and the reception followed at Darby’s Parents home nearby with just some of their closest friends and family. A super personal, uber stylish affair the couple really went all out to make it their own. I am absolutely loving the autumn leaf bouquets and subtle Halloween theming around the event – not OTT, not crazy, just them.

A Punk Rock Fairytale

Alysson & David’s wedding was a fusion of traditional, rock n roll and crazy offbeat awesome hair! Even though they were married in a church (that was a converted school by David’s father who is a pastor) this couple certainly dared to walk off that beaten aisle! As photographer, Daniel Krieger said to me…

The couple tore up the dance floor once some loud punk music came on the stereo.. the atmosphere of the wedding was just a chill, fun time.. people with different coloured hair and regular looking aunts all on the dance floor together.

Alysson’s taffeta-free Amsale dress was accoumpanied it with some shoes by Chinese Laundry, bought from DSW

The rock star credentials don’t stop there though. Not only did The Ramones play at their reception (!) but they had a pair of guests, Tish and Snooky, that not only used to be in Blondie (ARRGH!) but are the founders of Manic Panic (kick ass hair colour dye.) I think right now I owe those two a huge thank you for creating such amazing rainbow hair dye!

Thanks to Daniel for sending this off the wall, offbeat, rock star wedding to me!

Feels Like Home

I’ve done that thing again where I get sent a wedding so damn awesome that I end up posting a million pictures…I hope you don’t mind! I think you’ll understand my overwhelming excitement when you see these and learn that photographer Jeremy Lawson has given Rock n Roll Bride the exclusive blogging/bragging rights to this awesomeness.

Christine & Dan’s ceremony took place at their favourite floral boutique, Asrai Garden, in Chicago. They wanted the setting to not only be gorgeous, but to be super sumptuous yet unpretentious place for to say their vows. The fragrant blooms, the pastries and the smell of fresh coffee throughout really did make the space feel like home.

Their reception was held at The Violet Hour, also in Chicago, where they served personalised cocktails to their guests including one called ‘Romeo & Juliet’ that was made of Beefeater gin, mint, cucumber and rose water. The florist (who of course also owned the ceremony space!) filled the reception with vessels and apothecary jars for ferns and succulents, wooden pedestals for food and loads of gorgeous garden flowers. The couple chose not to have a traditional wedding cake, opting instead for loads of pastries including fresh fruit tarts, meringue and gold leaf cupcakes and bacon chocolate chip cookies all from Hot Chocolate Restaurant.

Christine’s awesome dress was a 1950’s vintage gown from Elizabeth Avey in London (wooo) and Dan accompanied his Rag & Bone suit (New York) with a bow tie from the 1930’s and wingtip shoes from Church’s in England.

Thanks to much for sharing your story you guys, and Jeremy Lawson – I will actually love you forever!

The Wedding Tree

I am so over the moon to be the first blog to bring you this amazing wedding. Paul & Cassie’s day really couldn’t be anywhere but Rock n Roll Bride though surely? From her cute cute dress by Carla Zampatti, to their kick ass tattoos – from the simply sweet ceremony site (just plastic chairs and autumnal leaves) to all the adorable personal touches (I am crazy in love with their thumb print wedding tree ‘guest book’.) There is in fact nothing I don’t love and I could go on with a big old list of everything I am swooning over right now. However it’s probably better for me just to share the photographic joy oui?

Shoes:  Witchery
Cake:  The Welsh Lady
Cupcakes:  Carousels
Decoration info:
The wall/window decals, the owl figurines, Cassie’s hair flower, the paper forest animal masks, the noodle box tags, the clay “love” & “forever” tags on bottles all came from Etsy
The mexican day of the dead dolls were found on Ebay.
The white lanterns and fairy light halo were from the glorious Ikea.
For the Vintage bottles, milk bottles, medicinal bottles the couple scouted Paddington Antique Markets.
All the pinecones, leaves and tree branches were collected from neighbourhood walks.
The Candy Buffet was a DIY job, the couple collected misc vases/jars & purchased the candy, lots of candy.
The cute tableclothes & yellow gingham table runners hand made “with love” by Mom
