Love on a Budget: Casual COVID Wedding at Norwich Castle

Kerry and Luca opted for a low budget, low key spring wedding at Norwich Castle. After a tumultuous 2020, the couple just wanted to get married and so their big barn wedding was replaced with a love on a budget theme which actually ended up suiting them perfectly.

“Our whole wedding was on a budget due to Luca being furloughed for the majority of 2020, so we saved money wherever we could”, Kerry began. Luca’s mum made our wedding cake which was insanely delicious. Luca decided not to purchase a new suit for the wedding, instead choosing to wear one he already owned. My wedding ring belonged to my mum which she gave to me; she no longer wears it following the passing of my dad four years ago. We didn’t need to budget for that and it’s so very special to me.”

Celestial Wedding with Skulls, Fairy Lights & Lots of Leopard Print!

Fern and Danny were inspired by the video to their first dance song – well, when they can have one that is! As a 2020 couple their plans didn’t quite match the reality, but it made them realise that the most important thing for them is each other and their families.

“We wanted to take some of the celestial elements of the video for Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins, the vintage inspired love story and how beautiful the song is and try to build our wedding around that,” Fern told us. “We had lots of stars, moons and fairy lights, but mixing in some ‘us’ elements too.”

A Fuss-Free COVID Wedding with A Silver Sequin Dress!

Getting married during Covid certainly made for unusual circumstances for Ruth and Ricci’s October wedding, but for them, it only made it feel more special. “I love the photos of us and our guests with masks on,” Ruth told us. “It captures how much of an odd year it’s been, but it didn’t stop us from doing what we set out to do.”

In fact the couple were actually glad to have to downsize their original plans for a wedding with 120 people to just 15, as it made the organisation so much easier! “We always wanted a fuss-free wedding, which focused on good food, drinks and not to have to stress over the little things. We wish we’d known from the get-go how much there is to think about! I’d never put much thought into what I wanted my wedding to be like so when I realised all the different things you’re supposed to think about in the process, it was a bit overwhelming, so cutting things back really was a blessing for us.”

Budget Friendly Celestial meets Pinup Themed Wedding with a Symbolic Wedding Dress!

We love it when couple’s include symbolic touches here at Rock n Roll Bride, and Jackie’s reason for choosing her wedding dress when she married Wil is one of our favourites to date – it was the dress she was wearing when she met him three years ago!

“I was doing my first popup shop for my business Pinup Pixie Boutique at a vintage cafe,” the bride explained. “He walked up to me and complimented me on my dress and then walked away. We met again a year later, I had just come out a very toxic relationship and I became a single mom. I met him at my worst and he brought me back to life.”

“On our first date I wore the galaxy dress. We clicked immediately and he became my safe place and my home. He made me believe in love again and he became a father to my two little girls. I describe our love as when the stars meet the moon.”

Budget Friendly London Wedding with Garden Party Reception

Luke and Aida’s June 2019 wedding was held at George Meehan House in London, followed by barbecue reception at Aida’s parents house – thankfully, the weather was on their side!  They opted for a small wedding, as they never wanted to spend a fortune on their wedding day. In fact, they think they spent about £1400 in total!

With a whole lotta help from family and friends, they put together an intimate day with personal touches where important to them, and lost whatever from a traditional wedding that didn’t sit right!

Autumnal, Halloween Themed Wedding with Custom Made Tombstones!

Bridey and Jon spent just £5000 on their incredible October wedding in 2018, but you’d never be able to tell! They DIYed up a storm and chose venues that were inexpensive in order to stay within budget.

“I was never one to dream of a big expensive day,” explained the bride (who, by the way, has the best name ever!) “so we flexed our DIY skills and had an extravagant honeymoon to the Hard Rock Hotel in Tenerife instead!”
