Fantasy Literature Inspired Fairytale Wedding

fantasty literature fairytale wedding (57)

Inspired by their favourite fantasy novels, Sarah and Adrian had a wedding that featured influences from books such as Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Labyrinth and Game of Thrones.

“We first started describing our vision as ‘fairytale’ until we realised the wedding industry had a very different interpretation of the word than we did!”, the bride began. “I would describe it as ‘actual fairytale’, enchanted forest or fantasy literature inspired. It was Harry Potter, Labyrinth and Star Wars with a little The Last Unicorn, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones thrown in!! We are both long term LARPers and share PC gaming as a hobby, so we picked out things we like and mashed them into an eclectic theme. Adrian also carried a replica of Lucius Malfoy’s Cane (complete with hidden wand) as part of his wedding outfit… We definitely went for the ‘more is more’ approach!”

The February wedding was held at Glazebrook House Hotel in Devon. “We were married on the landing of the staircase. I was very fortunate to have the support and huge help of my Mum and sister who run the wedding decor company, Flourish. They decked the staircase in lanterns, foliage and flowers, so it looked like something out of an enchanted castle! Our registrar was really helpful in working out where we would stand and had the idea of having the bridesmaids sat on the bottom stairs which looked lovely!”

Day of the Dead Wedding on Halloween

Mexican Day of the Dead Wedding at Halloween (37)

Although they got married on Halloween, Charlie and Chris decided they wanted their wedding to have a different feel to most themed Halloween weddings. With the groom’s father being from South America, a Day of the Dead theme made way more sense. “Chris’ dad is South American and he’s always loved day of the dead”, explained the bride.

“We both absolutely love autumn with all its vibrant copper tones and Halloween is our favourite holiday. We always celebrate it in a big way so it was an obvious choice for our wedding. We also wanted the whole thing to reflect my heritage too so the Asian influence throughout our venue, The Matara Centre, was really important.”

Colourful Vintage Wedding in the Scottish Highlands

Anna and Jack wanted a fun wedding with a party atmosphere. So they hired their venue, Inshriach House, for the entire week, and stayed there in the run up with some of their guests. “We wanted the wedding to be a big fun party with as many of our nearest and dearest as possible”, Anna said. “We wanted our personalities and sense of humour to shine through. We wanted to get to married in the highlands, near my hometown of Kingussie and we felt the best way to do this was to organise most things ourselves and to have equal input and responsibility.”

“We stayed in the house during the week running up to the wedding with lots of family and friends, which was amazing. We got to pretend that we were fancy country people for a week. Walter, the Laird, has created a wonderful vintage feel to the house and it’s surroundings. This includes things like the old Old Aviemore train station having been transported to a field beside the house and turned into a bar! This is where we had the ceremony.”
