Rock n Roll Cats, Pink & Metal Themed Wedding

Rhian and Andrew’s wedding theme was ‘Rock n Roll cats’ with the slogan ‘mutual weirdness forever’ and to be honest, that – coupled with the above photo – is pretty much all you need to know to want to find out more…

“We wanted to encapsulate us into our day as much as possible,” Rhian explains, “so we ended up with a lot of different elements – from cats, metal and rock, to leopard print, pink, Pokémon, skulls, and everything in between. We wanted to focus on what we both love in life and what was special between us – but we were also inspired by a lot of different weddings we viewed on your blog!” (You GUYS.)

Rhian is a designer and illustrator so created most of the elements herself, alongside friends. “Nearly everything was completely bespoke, designed, or made by us!” she says. This included table names based on band name-cat hybrids and top table signage saying ‘Hiss and Purrs’ instead of his and hers, as well as hand-painted signs and hand decorated jars filled with hot pink decor.

Autumnal Glamour Wedding Celebrating Artists & Taxidermy

Simone and Chris met at Teeside University studying art history, so it was only fitting that their wedding was a celebration of the creativity and skills of loads of different artists they knew and loved, including taxidermy centrepieces and a pigeon cake topper. Their November wedding oozed autumnal glamour – check it out below!

Simone was the epitome of Hollywood glamour in a gorgeous high-neck dress with intricate embellishment and beading from Phase Eight, and red buckled shoes from Zara. She had a bespoke headpiece made from Surf & Silver and wore Chris’ Nana’s fur stole to the ceremony and a bespoke painted leather jacket later in the day. Chris wore a checked suit from Marc Darcy, and boots from Grenson. They both had bespoke rings from Emma Hedley Jewellery.

Of the ceremony at Newcastle Civic Centre, Simone says: “We both tried to keep it as low-key as possible, and were glad for that on the day when we were nervous and stumbling over our words. I practically sprinted down the aisle to meet Chris – note to self, walk slower!”

Rustic, Beer Themed Wedding with a Temperley Wedding Dress

Charlie and Duncan were lucky enough to score a gem of a venue for their wedding – Outfields Farm in Bedfordshire. Usually used for holiday accommodation, they had their reception in the barn usually used as a bunk room, and the whole bridal party were able to take over the holiday cottages adjacent for the whole weekend. Many of their other guests camped on site too. As it wasn’t an advertised wedding venue, happening to belong to Charlie’s bridesman’s parents, they’re convinced they managed to achieve what they wanted from their big day for a third of the price of hosting it in a manor house or country club!

Being able to stay over the nights before and after the wedding meant that there was a real party atmosphere for the whole weekend, not just the day itself, which is just what Charlie and Duncan wanted when they began their planning. The couple took their inspiration from the rustic charm of the venue itself and their love of relaxed days spent in pub gardens with friends, family and dogs. They wanted it to be as personal as possible, and the input of so many friends and family ensured the day was completely tailored to their tastes and passions by those who knew the couple best.

Light and Airy Halloween Wedding in Swansea

Melanie and Adam’s October wedding was a super cute take on a Halloween theme, keeping everything super light, bright and airy at Oldwalls in Gower, Swansea. As an ex practical-SFX artist and with it being Melanie’s favourite holiday, the couple wanted to evoke the imagery and colours, but most importantly the fun of it for all of their friends and family to enjoy. It was also a non-negotiable that her rescue chihauhau, Periwinkle, was able to take part in the day.

Melanie wore a strapless Rembo Styling dress with Virginia The Wolf bone jewellery and her everyday Bloody Mary Metal rings. On her feet she wore purple velvet Alexander McQueen flats with embroidered golden pumpkins, which she found second-hand on Vestaire Collective, and which matched Adam’s purpley Marc Darcy suit. In line with wanting it to be a big excuse for friends and family to have fun and see each other, fancy dress was of course encouraged too, making the ceremony pictures so much fun (spot the skeleton at the back!) It also totally helped that Melanie describes her and Adam as ‘not particularly serious people, so it was a bit more like a stand-up gig with some legal bits in it!’

Fantasy Woodland Vegan Wedding with a Lord Of The Rings Theme

When a wedding is described as “Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Lord of The Rings”, you know it’s going to be pretty unique, and Natalia and Steven’s day certainly lives up to this promise. They even dared guests to outdo the bride and groom within the realm of the ‘fancy dress’ theme they’d set!

Their “playful and ethereal fantasy forest” wedding theme was based on everything that Natalia and Steven enjoy together – like the fancy dress theme, which is crucial to how they got together. “We had mutual friends but we really bonded after meeting for Halloween and admiring each other’s fancy dress outfits”, the bride explained. “I was a voodoo witch doctor and he was a cross-dressing banana (I’ll leave that one to your imagination!) I admired his dedication to fancy dress and we started to discover how much we had in common – it quickly grew from there.”

Guests were encouraged to wear fancy dress from any era or any realm, so long as they dressed up, and seeing the guests’ amazing outfits made walking down the aisle even more special for the bride. It also meant the hotel manager came up to her about half an hour before the ceremony, exclaiming “YOU HAVE A UNICORN DOWNSTAIRS FOR YOUR WEDDING – I’VE NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE!” If that’s not the sign of a Rock n Roll Bride wedding, I don’t know what is!

Intimate 1950s Inspired Brighton Wedding With Only 10 Guests

Gemma and Tom’s gorgeous Brighton wedding proves that sometimes size isn’t everything. They celebrated with only ten members of their immediate family and had the intimate wedding of their dreams, with a small dinner following their ceremony. They had a loose theme of 1950s burlesque, romance and Hollywood glam.

“We knew Brighton was the perfect backdrop for some stunning photos we would treasure forever,” Gemma explains. “We got ready at The Artists’ Residence and then our ceremony was held in the Regency Room in Brighton Town Hall. My Grandad walked me down the aisle to Heroes by David Bowie – and bless him, he stood on my dress as I was walking into the room! Everyone gasped as they thought I was about to stack it but luckily I managed to get through it with my dignity and dress intact. My favourite part of the wedding was seeing everyone’s faces as I walked/tripped into the room!”
