pearson{w}-960

Devin and Nina were married at the Solitude Mountain Ski Resort in Utah, in May. Her completely stunning dress was ‘Josee’ by Grace Loves Lace. “For our wedding day I wanted simple, and unique”, she wrote. “We were exhausted of going to the same wedding over and over and wanted to do something a little different.”

“Our ceremony was simple, intimate and held at the snowy Solitude Ski Resort and the reception was at Frida Bistro. The two atmospheres combined made for a very memorable special day that was perfect for us. Not too formal, and a little out of the ordinary.”

Lindsey and Jason were married at The Red House in Cassadaga, in upstate New York. The venue really set the tone for their casual, DIY day. “Our wedding theme was laid back, bohemian, vibrant and eclectic”, explained the bride. “Which truly reflected Jason and I. We really didn’t stick to the traditional formalities when planning our wedding but instead we choose to personalize our day in a way that we felt most comfortable with.”

“Our wedding was also completely do-it-yourself!” she continued. “We really wanted to keep it simple, colorful and fun. The venue was really cool, it was a Victorian style house with a beautiful yard and a great big barn. Since It was such a unique location, I really wanted to keep our décor simple enough so that it would complement our location without taking away from the natural beauty of the place. We tried to recycle and reuse as much as we could while really bringing in our unique sense of style.”

Colourful Boho Wedding in South Afirca: Stu & Lisi

While planning their colourful and DIY heavy wedding for May this year, disaster struck. Stu and Lisi’s flat burnt down, bringing with it nearly all of the things they’d collected for their wedding so far! Starting over must have been massively stressful, but they were still able to pull off the DIY wedding of their dreams in a relatively short time frame!

“Our theme was colourful boho, with a little vintage inspiration”, wrote the bride. “We love boho décor, and we needed to have loads of colour to match our personalities. There are a lot of boho themed weddings recently, but very few that incorporate so much colour and vibrancy. We aimed for fuss free décor, and we had to have flowers, flowers and more flowers. The more colour the better, and you can see from our wedding cake that we carried through that notion from décor to food!”

Amanda and James were married in Derry, Northern Ireland. The day started with the bride getting ready at her parents’ house and a catholic ceremony, but that’s where the tradition ended! Their reception, at Thatched Cottage in Craft Village, was a true reflection of them as a couple. Casual, laid back and thrifty. They spent just £1500 in total!

“Our wedding was bohemian, handmade and vintage inspired”, began the bride. “We didn’t have any bridesmaids or groomsmen (just two witnesses) and chose to keep thing as simple as possible. We wanted a low key wedding, something special and intimate to share with family and  friends… no fuss! We also wanted the wedding to reflect who we are and not get lured into the circus and stress that often surrounds weddings. We aimed to create an artistic, homemade, bohemian atmosphere.”

Urban Bohemian Wedding: Kristin & Eric

Kristin and Eric were married on 28th December and so they wanted their wedding to have a festive, gilded vibe. They day was held at 1927 Events, a historic space in Seattle. “The time of year really guided our choices”, wrote the bride. “We always wanted a wedding close to the holidays, so we really went for a romantic cocktail and dinner party vibe rather than a wedding. We wanted it to feel really informal instead of the traditional agenda burdened wedding.”

“I’ve had several people tell me how connected they felt to Eric and me that night and that they weren’t just audience members watching from afar”, she continued. “That made me feel like our wedding was so special. In fact my favorite thing about our wedding was how much me and Eric just felt like hosts of a great party celebrating our marriage. We wanted to create a party for people and not a formal gathering. We cherished all our guests and wanted them all to feel important, and also have an amazing time. ”

Glamorous, Budget-Savvy and Bohemian Wedding in South Africa: Jean & Brett

bohoglamoursouthafrica_fionaclairphotography-161

I was convinced this wedding was a styled shoot with models. Convinced. These kinds of beautiful people don’t exist in real life do they?!

Well, apparently they do, and I’ve got the photographs to prove it. Stand by for some serious wedding envy my friends – That light! That dress! Those model-esque bridesmaids!

Oh and before you say “How is this a Rock n Roll wedding?” let me tell you that this couple spent waaay below average on their wedding. They were super clever with the supplies that they booked, left a lot of things that they didn’t care about out, and DIYed wherever they could. This just goes to show that truly stunning photography can make even the most budget-concious event look like an editorial spread from Martha Stewart magazine!

Jean and Brett were married in May under a canopy of trees in an open field at Glades Farm, South Africa. Fiona Clair was on hand to capture the magic as it unfolded.

“We wanted to keep our day raw and real”, wrote Jean. “We kept our spending to an absolute minimum, allowing ourselves to have a few key items on our wish list. The first thing we did was give photographer Fiona Clair, a call. We’d done an amazing shoot with her before so she feels a part of our circle and most importantly, we love her vibe.  We even picked our wedding date around her schedule! Next on our wish list was our videographer, James Gibbs. He has a real knack for capturing raw emotion and he totally got that we weren’t after your typical commercialised wedding.”
