Atlas Mountains Destination Wedding with a ‘White Party’ BBQ Reception

Ashleigh and Daniel decided to fly themselves and all their loved ones over to Morocco for their October wedding. They opted for the Atlas Mountains and had one hell of a cerebration at L’Amandier Hotel in the Ouirfane Valley, just south of Marrakech. The day after the main event, they hosted a casual BBQ for everyone and the theme was ‘all white’ with everyone dressed head-to-toe in white. They were legally married back when they got back to the UK a week later.

“My husband Daniel and I had zero experience planning weddings when we started our epic journey”, began the bride. “The only reason we even embarked on planning a destination wedding by ourselves is because we were dissatisfied with the way that every venue we approached kept forcing us to choose from a set-menu of pre-packaged options (from flowers to food) that made it impossible to craft our dream day. We were working with a budget below the national average, so getting a wedding planner was never going to be realistic for us, but we still wanted a personalised experience that we could never forget!”

90s Nostalgia Inspired Wedding with Retro Toys and Feminist Touches

Nick and Inés didn’t really have inspiration for how they wanted their wedding day to look and feel: “To be honest,” said Inés, “we just threw together a bunch of stuff that we loved and hoped for the best!” They ended up with a day filled with childhood nostalgia – from the retro toy decorations collected from scouring eBay, charity shops and their parents attics, to the childhood photos of themselves that adorned every table at their reception.

Urban Australian Wedding with Pizza and a Punk Rock Reception

Marlie and Ben’s love story is like something out of a rom-com – they met officially in 2010, but were too shy to speak to one another. They spent a few years politely waving at each other when their paths crossed, until Ben came to Marlie’s rescue while she was stuck in the pouring rain and they finally spoke. They moved in together six weeks later!

Eight years after this, they had just witnessed one of Australia’s first gay weddings and felt so moved by the experience. “We had always said we would only get married when Australia had marriage equality,” explained Marlie. “That day Ben said ‘Let’s do it’, and we cried so many happy tears as we knew it was the best decision ever!”

Halloween Themed Wedding with Sword Swallowers, Drag Acts and A Costume Contest Reception!

The inspiration behind Kris and Landon’s big day was the fact that Kris has never been to a Halloween party… no, really! “It’s the best holiday because your only obligation is to dress like an ass and then get candy for it. So we said screw it and threw a Halloween party,… but you know, just got married in the beginning.” Kris explained.

Clean, Chic & Botanical Inspired Viennese Wedding

Josi and Max wanted their wedding day to be different from every other wedding that they and their guests had attended. They just wanted it to feel very true to them.
