Disco Meets Vintage: A Relaxed, Warehouse Wedding with an Epic Tinsel Jacket!

Gold and Grit

November 27, 2019

Esther and Yousef had a look at a couple of Pinterest boards when they started planning their August 2019 wedding, but in the end they just trusted their gut to go with things they loved! They also took a lot of inspiration from previous weddings that their decorators, Good Day Club, had done.

They made a conscious effort to step away from all the other weddings they’d attended and focused on creating a day that suited them. They were married at Mountain Goat Beer, a working, red brick, warehouse style brewery bar in Richmond, Australia. They put their focus, and majority of their budget, on the things important to them (namely, the catering!) and left behind stuff that didn’t matter to them (such as fancy transport). Their invites were sent via Paperless Post, and they didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen.

Esther wore an embellished cape wedding dress from ASOS, paired with Irregular Choice shoes (and Nikes for walking) and an incredible Rachel Burke jacket. They continued the relaxed disco-vibe with their reception decor; pairing neon signs with sumptuous florals by Good Grace and Humour. They added homely, vintage furniture with sequin backdrops and fairy lights. It’s no surprise that their favourite thing about planning the day was getting all the details just right.

The couple were surprised that the ceremony was their favourite part of their day, “Despite the anxiousness of being up there will all the people watching you, it was a lovely feeling know that they are all there for you,” said Esther. “It was so special to be able to share it. Their celebrant helped the couple prepare personalised vows for one another. “Her prep docs and help made the whole thing really special and our vows were real and honest – just like us.”

Esther and Yousef’s advice for future brides and grooms is a Rock n Roll Bride mantra: Do it your way! “Don’t overthink all the bells and whistles, or compare your wedding to other people’s. Figure out what you like and want for your day, and then find a way to make it happen.”

“The thing I wish we’d known before we started planning is to breathe, and take it all in”, Esther concluded. “Also, it would have been ace to have the photo booth for the entire evening and I would have liked to have a word with mother nature. I was so hoping it was going to rain!”
