Scott and Hayley were married on Halloween but they didn’t want to make the obvious choice to have a spooky themed wedding. Instead they were inspired by vintage pieces (the bride wore a dress from the 1940s), and Victoriana with a Rock n Roll twist. Of course there were a few autumnal touches such as pumpkins on the tables, but overall it was just a reflection of everything they love.

“We wanted our wedding to be different and not traditional but also show our personalities”, said the bride. “We collected vintage props for the tables but the venue, The Roost in Dalston, also had lots of quirky pieces of furniture and props that we could use. Music was also a big influence we spent months creating our perfect playlists for each part of the day.”

“We tried to make the day as relaxed and informal as possible. We basically planned our perfect party! We held a swing dance lesson in the basement and later on in the evening we hired a quirky band who play fun mash-ups and medleys for us to dance the night away to!”

The ceremony was at Highbury & Islington town hall. “We decided to write our own vows but we used song lyrics which meant a lot to us – mainly Morrissey! For an autumn day the weather was stunning, the light in the council chamber where we said our vows was amazing. We played some of our favourite songs and My grandad walked me down the aisle to The Stone Roses, I Wanna be Adored.

“My advice to other couples would be to just try and relax . Don’t stress and enjoy each and every moment as the day goes so fast! Also, its really hard to know how much alcohol to buy. Nine months later we are still drinking our wedding alcohol!”
