Aussies Sammy and Rhys wanted an outdoor, beach wedding, but they also wanted to avoid all the traditional Australian wedding clichés. The day took place in Noosa Heads, in beautiful Queensland, with the ceremony in the Casuarina Gardens near the beach, and the reception at Bistro C restaurant.

“We both wanted to make sure we were true to our personalities on the day and I think through our event did that”, said Sammy. “We both have a certain style but try to be relaxed about it. Plus we love being outdoors but didn’t want a traditional beach wedding so I think we hit the mark in terms of it being fun and beautiful at the same time.”

“Our theme was a relaxed take on the vintage style, but we wanted to make sure it was fresh and in keeping with our amazing location. Our idea when we decided to get married was to make sure no details were missed so we did that by making sure our guests were looked after from the time they met us at the ceremony to the time they left the reception. We wanted great food, great alcohol, great service, great music and a real party atmosphere. We even supplied thongs to our guests for their aching feet, which were a hit!”

“Our favourite part of the day was the ceremony”, she continued. “It was amazing sharing such a wonderful and joyful moment with our daughter and all our family and friends. I will never forget it, but the party after was out of this world as well!”

“Our biggest cost was our venue as we wanted an amazing space for our reception but also the best styling, food, drinks and service money could buy. For what we got I still think it was worth every cent. We also wanted heaps of flowers so we spent the money there too. And photos, I wanted really amazing shots and researched my photographer. I was amazed how well Sophie was able to get so much of our personality into her shots. She understood our vision without us even having to say it. I am forever grateful to have found her.”

“My advice for other couples would be to not be afraid to be a bit flexible with your ideas and concepts”, she concluded. “Take your advice from those in the game and decide early on what aspects are really important and what you are less attached to us. I also think it’s important to find the right officiant. Ours just got us straight away and she did a great job in setting the scene for our entire celebration.”
