Thursday Treats

You are currently browsing the archive for the Thursday Treats category.

After being really poorly last weekend and spending pretty much all of my birthday and Easter feeling sorry for myself, I was back with a vengeance this week and ready to party! It’s been a busy old week in Rock n Roll Bride-land to say the least! Yesterday I went to see the lovely Elbie to get myself re-pinked before heading to the writers and bloggers party hosted by the fabulous Choccywoccydoodah at their brand new central London store.

I don’t actually have a huge sweet tooth but I do love a good party (and I love love love Choccywoccydoodah and everything they stand for – their cake designs are out of this world!)

Here I am talking to cafe manager and all-round awesome dude Daveed.

And, here are some of my fave Instagram snaps (yes, still addicted)…

In other news…

Ten years ago today I went on a date with a boy called Gareth and after a few vodka & red bulls I asked him if he’d like to be my boyfriend (awww!)

Five years ago today, that boy got down on one knee while we were having a picnic by the river and asked if I’d marry him.

Four years ago today I walked down the aisle and married that boy. Happy ‘Marriversary’ baby! Someone on twitter pointed out that without all this happening there’d be no Rock n Roll Bride, imagine that!? (shudder…)

I love that we kept our anniversaries on the same date, it means we get to celebrate all our milestones in one each year. I actually can’t believe we’ve been together ten whole years. That makes me feel very old indeed. Even more so when I look at this photo of us from when we first got together. How young!? Wasn’t Gareth the cutest?

As I write this I’m not exactly sure what we have planned, but I do have a yearning to go to Ikea as we’re currently decorating our front room – how very romantic and Rock n Roll!

Oh and because some of you on facebook asked if they could see our wedding photos, here’s a selection of some of our faves…

All Photography Credit: English Rose Weddings (except bouquet shot – David McNeil PhotographyMore here! Oh how much we’ve changed in four years – look at our hair!

Sometimes I think about our wedding and say “Oh I wish we’d done this”, “we’d sooo do it differently now” or “I’d love to wear this and have my hair like that…” but looking at these photos makes me go all mushy. You know what, yes, our wedding would be very different now. I’d wear a different dress, I’d have pink hair (can you believe I didn’t?!) we’d choose a different photographer, venue and theme… but I still wouldn’t have changed thing about our wedding back then. It was perfect and we were so incredibly happy. It was the most amazing day of our lives but guess what? Our marriage has been even better!

OK enough about us, time for Thursday Treats! Enjoy…

I have a few bits of excitement to share with you today. Firstly, in case you didn’t hear, the Devon School of Rock blogging workshop is sold out! I’m thrilled with the response to this second date and I can’t wait to meet all the new students at Muddifords Court in April! If you missed out or are considering attending one of these courses in future, keep those peepers peeled as I’ll be announcing the next date and location as soon as I’m done with this one!

In other news, we are SO VERY CLOSE to having issue two of the Rock n Roll Bride Magazine ready! I know, I know, it’s taken much longer than we anticipated to get this second edition out, but we’ve really upped our game with it. The magazine will be a whopping 86 pages and we’ve (and by ‘we’ I mean Nubby…) basically redesigned the whole thing from scratch so it’s got a much more grown up, editorial feel. I’m seriously DYING with the anticipation of sharing it with you, it’s not long to wait now I promise! Nubby is just working on the finer final details and I’m hoping to have it off to the printers within the next two weeks. WATCH THIS VERY OVER-EXCITED SPACE.

Righty…treats treats, we’re all about the treats!

Thank you to workshop attendee Corrine Hills of Motherhood Journeys for taking these photos!

Wow what a day yesterday was. Bright and early Gareth & I bundled into my car and headed up to Sheffield for my School of Rock (n Roll Bride) blogging workshop. The day was held at the amazing Chimney House. It was perfect for our intimate event (20 students in total) and Sally and her team made us feel very welcome.

All the students were girls which was lovely for me but poor Gareth was definitely picked on because of that! After my four hour presentation (don’t worry we had tea breaks) and a lengthy Q&A session we all trundled off to The Milestone for dinner and drinks and to get to know each other a little better.

I can’t even tell you how seriously nervous I was about talking, I’m certainly not a natural public speaker, but I’m so incredibly greatful to everyone that attendeed for making me feel so comfortable standing up there whittering on. Knowing nods & smiles, the sound of notes being scribbled and plenty of questions made me feel a whoooole lot better. You girls ROCK!

Taken by workshop attendee Sam of Timm Cleasby Photography. I love my new Shabby Apple dress. More on this company hitting the blog soon!

Wanna go back to school with me?

The next School of Rock blogging workshop will be taking place on Thursday April 26th at Muddifords Court, Devon. The course costs £99 and is limited to 20 students. More information on the course content can be found here. To reserve your spot click the Paypal button below! I look forward to seeing you there. WOOHOOO!

SOLD OUT

OK enough about me…on with some Thursday Treats after the JUMP!

This week I’ve relocated to the Photography Farm where, alongside my bestie Lisa Devlin I’ve been styling and teaching up a storm! I did a presentation to the photographers about blogging – improving their own blogs and sharing some of my top tips for submitting to wedding blogs. It was not only super fun but really good practice for my School of Rock workshop later this month!

On Tuesday we did this shoot with Roo, my gorgeous intern, playing model. I was tasked with coming up with a concept, and as Roo has a penchant for the macabre, we came up with this creepy idea! For now I hope this teeny sneak peek will get you excited about what we did – but you ain’t seen anything yet baby!

Other happenings in and around in interwebz this week…

♥ A desert inspired vintage wedding
♥ Dreamy pink California wedding (and part two) I’d like to live in this wedding please
Why are you complaining? Stop it!
♥ The Ultimate Tea Themed Wedding – I am in LOVE with the crockery covers ceremony arch – it’s the best!
♥ Doily Covered Lamp Shade DIY
The secrets of a gay marriage
Awesome Australian wedding
