Thursday Treats: Going Skiing… and to The Farm… and Then Back Over to America-land…

I’m heading out tomorrow for a few days, well a week to precise, on a family holiday to the French Alps. And whilst I’m looking forward to unplugging (for the most part), breathing in that fresh mountain air and drinking way to much vino, I do so with a small sense of trepidation. Spending a full seven days in close confines with your entire family (love them as I do) is not something to be entered into lightly. Be sure to follow me on twitter and instagram if obnoxious holiday snaps are your thing or if you want regular updates as to whether we’ve killed each or not…

So here’s the drill. I’m back next Friday but then pretty much right away I’m off to the Photography Farm again. Then as soon as that’s wrapped it’s a quick jaunt up to Birmingham for a certain wedding extravaganza before a short hop over the Atlantic to The US or A for two weeks. Needless to say for the rest of the month I’m going to be blogging on the go, which is both scary and exciting (especially because Gareth has promised me a swanky new laptop!) but means I basically have to take a little break from both Thursday Treats and Business Bites. Keeping up with the wedding and Green Room posts I can do, finding time to scour the interwebs for lots of lovely links for you to browse I can not. So forgive me, but these features will be absent until I’m back on solid ground mid-April…

APRIL?! Where the hell is 2013 going?! Sheesh…

Thursday Treats: Making Friends with Betsy Sue

I’m a slightly bleary headed blogger today after a wedding industry night out in London last night. I have to say, when I arrived at the venue and saw the above entrance sign, I was slightly concerned about what I’d signed myself up for. But I’m pleased to report that much fun was had, gossip was…er gossiped and cocktails were consumed in copious amounts. Just a little FYI, a Betsy Sue is both delicious and deadly in equal measures.

So how has your week been?

Thursday Treats: Medicinal Marshmallows

in Thursday Treats | Written by

marshmellowapothecary1

I popped into London at the end of last week to see the girls at Fur Coat No Knickers and to pick the winner of our wedding dress contest (congratulations to Diana by the way!) On my way out of Kingly Court, where they’re based, my eyes were drawn to this enticing looking shop. It could have been the pink lighting, the fluffy marshmallow poufs in place of chairs or the words ‘medicinal marshmallows‘ emblazoned on the window that drew me in, but either way I was drawn.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to actually pop in and see what this craziness was all about but as soon as I got home I had a googlefest – and now I’m even sadder that I didn’t take the time for a visit because it’s only there for two short weeks. WAAAH!

So now I’m really sad and I’m going to console myself with a big tub of shop bought marshmallows which is really not the same at all.

In other news we finally relaunched our private forum for The Blogcademy graduates this week. Up until now we’d just been using a secret group on facebook – which was great, but as the member numbers have now exploded to over 100 blogcadets, facebook’s limiting feature just wasn’t cutting it any more. The forum has been hopping since we flung open it’s doors with loads of questions, advice and general bouts of love flying around. It’s so flipping exciting to see all the changes our graduates are making after the workshop, and to get to know the undergraduates we’re yet to meet. SERIOUSLY SO EXCITING.

And finally, the real reason you popped by today – all things treatalicious..!

Thursday Treats: Central Heating & Gallons of Tea

This week has been brought to you by central heating and gallons of tea. I’ve been watching the snow fall from my office window with no real desire to venture out. There’s something about weather like this that just makes me want to hibernate.

But today I’ve braved the cold to head to London for Mark’s Valentines bloggers brunch (I’ll be instagramming snaps if you’re at all interested!) Each year he does some kind of fancy swanky Valentines party (you can see past ones here and here) and I always wonder how the hell I’ve managed to get invited again… Despite having to get up rather early to get there on time, I’m excited to meet the other bloggers, especially because I managed to sneak some of The Blogcademy graduates onto the list!

Afterwards I’ll be popping in to see my girls at Fur Coat No Knickers for a glass of Cava and to pick the winner of our Flaunt It competition. Oh the excitement!

Until next week…

Thursday Treats: Rediscovering my Bliss

in Thursday Treats | Written by

photography farm bloggers

Photography: Brooke Davis

The three of us nonchalantly asked the amazing Brooke Davis if she’d mind taking a few shot of us while we were hanging out at Photography Farm the other week. She delivered magic. Oh lord, I can’t wait to see and share the rest with you guys! It’s so interesting seeing yourself shot by so many different photographers. Each one has their own style, their own eye for detail and their own way of capturing emotion. I call this one contented and in love. We are you know… the three of us are head over heels infatuated with each other.

But it’s been so nice this week to spend most of my time at home… in my PJs and working through my ‘to do’ list. I’ve braved the supermarket, but mostly I’ve just been on my computer or having cuddles with my little family. It’s been kinda blissful.

Scouring the interwebz for all the pretty clicky links that I’ve missed hasn’t been too much of a chore either.

Thursday Treats: January Has Been Kicking My Butt

in Thursday Treats | Written by

January has been kicking my butt. I’m not going to lie, I’ve actually shocked myself with how much I’ve got going on this month. No sooner had we ticked over to the first day of the year and I was relaunching my website (thanks for all your feedback by the way – and to any of you who might have be experiences problems viewing the full site –  read this) announcing new dates for The Blogcademy, getting featured (and writing for!) Cosmopolitan … oh and planning a whirlwind trip to Paris with my BFFs (more on this soon!)

And then I realised, “Oh crap Gala & Shauna fly in NEXT WEEK for the London Blogcademy’s. HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO GET EVERYTHING DONE BEFORE THEN?!”

I’m not complaining of course. I’m so incredibly lucky to have so much going on, and I hate seeing “woe is me I’m so busy!” posts as much as the next person, but I’d be lying if I said I felt the next few weeks were going to be easy. But I’ll get it all done… I know I will.

So just a little heads up: for time that Gala & Shauna are here, I’ll be mostly offline and will be taking a brief hiatus from Thursday Treats & Business Bites. Don’t despair though, there will still be daily wedding content being published as well as Green Room goodness in abundance! Thursday Treats will be back on 7th February and Business Bites on 8th. Gosh, and then it’s almost Valentine’s Day!!

2013, slow down already!

Oh and before I forget – my first piece for Cosmopolitan was published this week. You can read my 2013 wedding trends predictions here. Thank you again Cosmo!
