A Late Summer, Rustic & Nature-Filled Shoot: Agnese & Iveta

Agnese & Iveta’s DIY shoot was set up with the help of Jaye from Tux & Tales Photography. Jaye has been doing a DIY inspiration shoot series, to show brides that they don’t have to spend a fortune to have a beautiful wedding (I featured one of her first ones here).

“For this shoot we decided to focus on a civil partnership. We decided early on to go for a ‘rustic’ theme that focused on the colours and tones of late summer,” Jaye told me. “Each of our DIY shoots was styled (including the dresses!) on less than £250. This shoot was particularly fun because we got to recycle and upcycle a lot of items which is really a great way to save some cash. Plus, we scavenged for items from ‘the wild’ to help create our top table.”

“I am an absolute nut for using fruit and veg as part of a design (c’mon, beautiful and edible!) and so we loaded the table with fresh fruit from our local green grocers. The confectionery and baked goods were all top shelf varieties from local supermarkets and just looked amazing mounded up with the fruit. A little macaroon to go with your cold grapes? Yummy!”

“We decided that we would use a same-sex couple for this shoot because we couldn’t think of any civil partnership inspiration shoots that we had seen before. There are so many considerations that go into a civil partnership that are different from those of a traditional wedding (such as clothing choices and who gets a bouquet!) that we think they deserve a little separate attention. That said, we really hope that brides and grooms of all makes and varieties find a little rustic inspiration in our images.”

A 1990’s Themed Styled Shoot

Being a child during the 90’s (yep I rocked a shell suit and everything) I have an instant affinity to this styled shoot put together by photographer Chelsea Nicole and stylist Brit Bertino. However I’m pleased to report that there’s not a troll doll in sight…

Brit explains, “I’ve noticed recently that a lot of couples want something different from the latest trends of garden, rustic, and or vintage themes. They want something that reminded them of their teen years when everything was carefree, fun and memorable.”

“I wanted to design something where I could envision a bunch of childhood friends playing out on the streets with their friends after school – either hitting the basketball courts, dancing in the streets to their boom boxes or playing Nintendo. I decided to design this shoot off of an early 90’s urban era that would bring back the soul in street hip hop, urban beats and just plain being a cheery kid again!”

A Hippy, Eco & Vintage Styled Shoot

This beautiful shoot with an eco hippy vibe tugs at my heart strings. Isn’t it just beautiful!? I die over the summery details – the coloured glass, the cute props (owls for the win!), the yummy confectionery and the stunning florals.

Photographer  Nikita Gross used digital, Holga and Polaroid photography to capture the whimsical and retro vibe of these shoot…and I’d say she’s done that perfectly! “We used tons of yellows and greens to keep with the natural vibe,” she explains. “All of the decor was found at local thrift stores.  Earlier this year myself and Jen Pritchard of Your Wedding by Jen created Cincinnati’s first Alternative wedding Expo, Love+Bash.  This is one of the table concepts from the show.”

Now excuse me, I’m off to lie in the sunshine and dream of this photo shoot…

A Recycled Wedding Fashion Shoot at Paramount Ranch

Paramount_046

“The concept of this photo shoot was ‘eco friendly + recycled wedding fashion for modern brides’,” photographer Yuna Leonard writes. ” Both of the dresses and the boots in this set were found at American Vintage store on Melrose, Los Angeles. I love that store!”

Paramount-64

“I was in love with the ideas of recycling and reusing wedding fashion from days gone by – maybe from brides who were in your Mother’s or Grandmother’s generations. The dresses I bought were also very inexpensive { from $70 – $ 100. The boots were $50.} We fused this style with an idea for outdoor / backyard styled reception fashion as well.  The mixed style of vintage + bohemian + western totally got me this time! Hope you enjoy it!”

A Creative & Colourful Vintage Explosion

I teased you with this shoot on the blog last Friday, and since then I’ve been getting daily tweets and facebook messages asking when I’m blogging the full thing…so needless to say I think you’re going to like this baby just as much as I do!

This styled shoot was set up by photographer Andrea Ellison who wanted to get together with some of her favourite wedding industry companions and create something great. She told me all about it last week, “I had been speaking with Mandy from Saddleworth Shindigs for a while about arranging a shoot “just for the pure hell of it ”  The time was never right and we couldn’t find anyone suitable….and then Amelia Rose Wheeler walked past me in a pub dressed to the nines like she had just walked off a 1940’s film set…I set off in hot persuit  leaving  my hubby chewing his own leg off with embarrassment as I picked up our model…she is a burlesque dancer called  be_bop_ a_lulu who also owns a vintage clothes store and she is just aceness itself.”

“I am like you. I totally agree that just because you have someone nearby who has the same business as you do that doesn’t mean you have to hate each others guts,” Andrea continued. “I have two other photographers, Claire Penn PhotographyJo Rutherford Photography, both hugely talented and both on my doorstep, and the best work we do is when the three of us get together and share ideas and shoots. We support each other, we pass bookings to each other and we never see each other as competition. There is a photographer for every bride and if your true to your style they will find you if they like what you do”

A Vintage Hen Do Inspiration Shoot

I wanted to start this week with something not all together bridal, but a shoot that you can certainly take inspiration from. I like to think of these vintage beauties as girls-on-tour…maybe on a hen do, or on their way to a beautiful bridal shower….but a classy, and non trashing one of course!

Hen do photo shoots are one of my new favourite things. Is anyone planning on doing one with their girls?

Have a beautiful Monday everyone….
