I’m Here In Spirit…

I need to apologise for the lack of posts today. I have had a mortifyingly long, tiring and busy day (just to give you an idea, I left my house at 6.45am this morning and have just got back now, at 10.10pm – granted the last 3 hours of that was a lengthy and gossipy dinner with a friend, but I still count it an ‘on the go’ and therefore unable to post.)
In my absence why now take this opportunity to peruse or reacquaint yourself with some of the old posts..there are some great weddings that I posted ages ago which, if you haven’t seen, certainly deserve a look.  At the bottom this main page is a search box, just type in what you fancy seeing and hopefully some wedding joy will pop up – if not have a clicky on the tag cloud.
I have some great stuff to share, so hopefully I will be back on form tomorrow.  Now for the obligatory image, plus a little taster of what’s to come tomorrow…

Getting To Know You…

As I mentioned before, the very lovely Jennifer has asked me to be a weekly guest blogger on her new blog Savvy Scoop.  I’m the Monday morning gal so be sure to check in every Monday for a brand new instalment!

However, I am well aware that I have a lot of brand new readers floating around R’nR Bride at the moment, so I thought what a good time to let you know (or re-know if you’re old skool) who I am and what I’m all about (basically I wrote this for Savvy Scoop and I liked what I’d written so much I thought it’d be unfair not to share it with you guys too!)

Rock ‘n Roll Bride promotes individuality and general awesomeness in a cookie cutter, pastel pink, poufy dressed wedding world. Don’t let the wedding industry define your day – let *you* define your day.

I’m Kat AKA The Rock ‘n Roll Bride.  I’m a pink haired, tattooed, Britney loving girl who has a rather sizable obsession with weddings…oh and yes you did read that right.  Britney.  As in Britney Spears. I love her.  Don’t mess…Britney and 24 are my weaknesses. Just leave it ok!?  I thought I’d let you in on my dirty little secret right from the outset as I hope we can have a frank, open and ultimately a friendly blogging relationship.  I’m afraid despite my Rock ‘n Roll persona, on the inside I am most defiantly a bit of a loser!  That brings me quite nicely around to my thought process behind R’nR Bride.

I started the site as a mini blog for me to gather my wedding planning thoughts and ideas when myself and my Gareth (my computer geek, super sexy husband – you’ll get to know him soon I’m sure) were planning our wedding for last April (seriously I still can’t believe we’ve been married nearly a year!)  I didn’t really think many people would want to read my scrapbook-esque random rambling blogging, but for some reason people did, and they liked it.  So the blog grew and grew, past the actual wedding day (which was fabulous, amazing, the best day of my life btw) and morphed into this big giant official Rock ‘n Roll Bride wedding blog.
Oh, and before I move on I must stress this, the most important thing about me and R’nR Bride…

To be featured on my site, you don’t have to be cool.  You don’t have to be ‘out-there’, you just have to be you.  (I’m pretty sure we have already established the ‘cool’ thing as I let you in to my Britney love right from the outset, but I just wanted to be sure)

So that’s me.  I’m 24 (25 next month) and from the UK (let’s say London – I work there and live pretty near there and it’s really much easier to say London as I’m pretty sure you won’t have heard of my actual hometown..Reading) so I will apologise right now if any of my British slang cuts through and you have no bloody idea what the bleedin’ ‘eck I’m talking about (see?) But please feel free to say ‘huh? translation please!?’  I won’t be offended…very little offends me in fact so don’t be scared.  One last thing I have a Maine Coon kitty called Akira who is actually the cutest thing in the world (although I’m pretty sure he’s in a bad mood with me right now) so if you hear (or should that be ‘read’?) me talking about Akira that’s who I’m referring to.

I am very much looking forward to my Savvy Scoop blogging adventure…and I hope you will join me on it. Taaadaaa!

See you there next Monday peeps!

One last thing (I think the sleep deprivation is getting to me, I am rambling even more than usual today) if you haven’t already I want to know about you..yes that’s right you there!  Just fill out this super speedy 5 minute survey for automatic entry to win some freeeee shooooes!

Link Love

Rock ‘n Roll Bride, or more specifically my fan-bloody-tastic free wedding photography competition was linked by Bridalwave.tv today.  Just wanted to say a big hello to any potential new readers, and to let you know to enter, either click the ‘win’ logo on the top right of the page or to make it even easier, just clicky here for all the info and Ts and Cs… The competition is open until the end of March so you still have plenty of time to get your entries in.

I have recieved some fantastic answers so far but I’m still looking forward to reading many more.  Remember to be a Rock n Roll Bride you don’t have to be extreme, you don’t have to be ‘out-there’, you don’t even have to be cool, you just have to be you.

Love you all!

Gala Darling/iCING

I have just discovered a new (to me, she has been blogging since 1998 or something ridiculous) blog that has inspired me more than anything I have seen in a long while.  Not in any kind of theological or remotely deep way but in a fashion kind of way!  This girl dresses just as I should!  There are the obvious hair similarities between the two of us, but quite apart from that I find her style and wit so totally captivating!

I can see this is not so wedding-related…however the image to accompany this post could surely make for some amazing bridal style?!

Oh and quite apart from my shallow reasons for adoring my new find, iCING (the name of the site) has articles on anything you might want to know, from how to start a blog right the way through to how to get a non-rubbish tattoo…be warned you could spend hours on here!
