"Just another hot and windy Sunday afternoon in Tracy, CA" began photographer Nirav. "Showing Matt & Lynnae's love for each other meant that they had to feel extremely comfortable in their location and with me so I decided to start the session at a place that they had spent a lot of time together and had lots of character which was Matt's mother's home/farm. The home included stables, a farm house, and several critters of all sorts. We took several shots there and once things felt right we moved out to the hills of Tracy with the intention of shooting with the giant windmills in the background. When we got, the security patrol was there to make sure those shots were not going to happen. The amount of wind up on hill was tremendous and I loved the movement of hair so we took the remainder of the shots there with a very simple backdrop. My favorite shots are ones that play on light and shadows. I wanted at least one dramatic silhouette shot which is when I spotted the power lines. After that, we all headed back to house and passed out from heat exhaustion."Read more...

You've got to see Kassie & James' killer Roadhouse Relics (Texas) engagement shoot! The vintage, western, neon retro decor and 50's rockabilly vibe proved to be the perfect location for such an awesome couple. The store, which specialises in neon signs allowed the couple an hour to come in and get some fabulous photographs.Read more...

I saw Steffany & Anders engagement photographs and amazing (like, seriously amazing) proposal video on their photographer Emily's blog and instantly knew I had to feature them. These two are the actual cutest! Steffany told me the whole story... "My story is something like, "OHMYGOD he proposed and it was SO CUTE!" And then I cried. I still can't believe he went to so much trouble. I always assumed that when/if he proposed it would be at a restaurant (which makes sense because we both LOVE to eat!) but instead he enlisted the help of five of his friends and made me the most amazing and thoughtful game ever. The game actually has a name - Dinner Love and the Quest for Soup! It's named for my food blog, dinnerlove.com, and also for my love of SOUP! Whitstable is such a little gem of a place for photo shoots. As most of you will know, my last Rock n Roll Bride photo shoot took place there but it would appear that Peri & Ryan knew some really awesome locations to visit that we never found. I mean just check out the multi-coloured beach hut. I love. The couple, who live in the area (hence knowing all the best places to go!) are having a winter wedding in December so wanted to make sure they cashed in on a gorgeous summer engagement shoot. "It also happened to be the Whitstable Regatta that Saturday so we decided to do the shoot in the evening to catch the fireworks" their photographer Shell told me. "It's the best time of the day really as we got some gorgeous light, beautiful sunset and some fish and chips whilst watching the fireworks! Their nicknames for each other are muffin and cupcake hence the chalk board shots - I wanted to have a fun, whimsical feel to the shoot as they are a cute young couple, and their wedding is going to be 50s polka dots which I think will have a similar feel."Read more...

I love these guys! Normen & Priya are from Holland and had their engagement shoot in Rotterdam with Tapas Maiti. This is just pure Rock n Roll and the couple have got a GREAT story. "I met Priya at the Asian Wedding Exhibition last November" Tapas told me. "It was an hour to go before closing and I was about pack up when she came to my stall and we got chatting. Priya & Norman are from Holland, her mother was a Hindu who arrived in Holland via Surinam whilst her father is a Sikh from the Punjab. Many Indian Hindu's have settled in Holland by way of Surinam through the Dutch Indian Empire, its a fascinating story and shows the complexity of the Indian diaspora."Read more...

I think the phrase 'off the hook' was invented for engagement sessions like this. Danielle & Ed have such amazing style! First up her ring is a custom made creation by Greenlake Jewelry Works...and it's a spider! The heart diamond in the ring actually belonged to Danielle's Grandmother. Secondly her shoes are in the design of The Empire State Building (wow!) by Geox and thirdly they have a crystal encrusted skull lamp that they found unadorned in a vintage shop. Michelle & Mike's engagement session is a total reflection of them as a couple. They were inspired by Quentin Tarantino for the style and used their "Rockabilly, car kulture, punk culture, antiques, vintage & neo-traditional design and styling, neo-gothic, country/western, low-brow art, tattoo culture, vintage pin-up/greaser" personalities as the theme! Alex & Lisa met 13 years and discovered a mutual love of music, books & film "We met nearly 13 years ago and the one thing that brought us together was music. He was wearing a t shirt of my favourite band and I fell for him" Lisa told me. "When we started dating we would wander around London checking out music shops, flicking through CD and vinyl to add to our collections and then head to a local cinema to catch a film. We probably spent more time in the records shops in Soho and a cinema than anywhere else. Many of those films we saw are now our favourite films and we probably know them inside out. I read books like there is no tomorrow and Alex is slowly coming round to that after having spent a lifetime reading comics and graphic novels. I bake cakes every weekend and while I enjoy making them, Alex enjoys eating them so when we are out I always take him to a cake shop so we can have a treat. I am also the official photographer in our relationship and I have the cameras and stacks of photo's to prove it. How much do I love Hayley & Lucas' adorable English countryside engagement shoot? Almost makes me proud to be British! The ever-lovely Lisa Devlin captured the couple in Sussex as they wanted a countryside location and with the yellow flowers, Hayley's outfit and the glorious British summertime light (yes, it does happen sometimes) the scene couldn't have been more perfect. Over the last year or so props have been massively popular in weddings and photo shoots however Hayley & Lucas wanted to keep their shoot simple - just them. They did opt to bring some flowers though and Donal at Pollen came up with the spiky posy of zingy yellow chrysanthemums to contrast beautifully with their rural, natural setting.Read more...

I LOVE a bit of retro kitsch and Caroline & Jim couldn't be more perfect at pulling this off if they tried. The shoot took place in their own Art Deco apartment in Brighton (just check out the exterior shots!) which has been decorated with an eclectic mix of bits and bobs collected from all over and ranging in era from the 1920's right through to the 1970's. I adore everything from the authentic mirror, clocks and Princess Anne collectible mugs to the incredible wallpaper and all the retro furniture. Jim is 'Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer' , a brilliant musician playing all over the country at gigs, weddings, parties and festivals. Caroline has a complete passion for fashion as she works in the fashion industry in London. The pair both embrace everything retro and nostalgic in fashion and styling, so their style was spot on for this style of shoot. The couple both wore all their own clothes to give a completely genuine portrayal of themselves and who they are as a couple.Read more...

Wow, hello beautiful people! Lydia & Zonte may well be one of the coolest couples I've seen in ages. Lydia is South Korean (and must be a model I swear!) and Zonte is a dancer. They live in Kansas City, Missouri but are getting married in South Korea on August 7th. I seriously can't wait to see this wedding - if these engagement shots are anything to go by it's going to be one cool ass wedding! Do I have the coolest readers or WHAT!?!?! Amanda & Marcel's Florida engagement session was a gift from their friend Mireya at Axiom Photo Studio. "From the moment Marcel and I got engaged, Mireya called us up and said...'I have a vision' " Amanda told me. "She told us where and when to meet and she would take care of the rest. I decided to hit up a few Goodwill stores the night before and ended up getting my entire wardrobe for under $20. She knew she wanted to capture "us" and "Miami" and she really did. She took us to some kick-ass graffiti walls in Wynwood and then we traveled back to Little Havana for some cafecito. The whole shoot took about four hours and we all had a blast (including our 2 chihuahuas)."Read more...
