I love anniversary shoots. I think they are not only a great way to document your years together after the wedding, but planning one gives you a great excuse to keep your toes tipped in the wedding/photo shoot/photography world! I’m already thinking of some cool ideas for mine and Gareth’s for our 3 year anniversary this April!
Wendy & Brian were celebrating 5 years of marriage and wanted to do a steam-punk styled shoot. Brian creates some really cool tie tacks, cuff-links and earrings etc and sells them on etsy, so it was also a good excuse to showcase some of his work. Photographer Katrina made the seating cards and all other paper goods, and she worked closely with Pazzobello Floral Design on the flowers and table settings. “I love how out of the box she was,” Katrina told me. “She incorporated gears and re-purposed pieces for the table arrangements and bouquet to really fit the theme.” The china was from Katrina’s Mother’s wedding china.
Blake & Megan have been married a few years but wanted to do a new photo shoot to reflect who they are as a couple right now (I’m hoping to convince Gareth to do the same thing soon – the latest photos we have of us together are our wedding photos. In these he has a shaved head (he now has long hair) and I have brown hair – we couldn’t be more different now!)
Blake & Megan and their photographer Daniel & his wife hunted in vintage shops, independent stores & consignment shops for the perfect vintage-inspired outfits and props, and everyone spent a long time on diy projects to make everything personal and perfect. On the day, they shot in Daniel’s back garden as well as a secret woods nature centre in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
Oh I love featuring anniversary shoots. I get excited and all mushy to see how in love you guys are even after a few years of marriage…and of course they mean that there is no end to the inspiration I can give you – so don’t stop reading Rock n Roll Bride just because you’re married you hear!?
Sarah & Ben, have been married for 4 years and wanted to do a vintage rustic themed anniversary shoot in a park. They had a sweet lazy picnic going with apples and antique coca cola bottles where they could lie in the grass and enjoy the sun. They also climbed a tree together, wrote love letters on a typewriter, and listened to records. Their outfits were handpicked from estate sales, thrift stores, and Etsy and the props they brought – a portable record player, records, a birdcage, and a typewriter – were also from thrift & antique stores or passed down from family members.
You might remember Tim & Merrill’s self-engagement shoot (and here) or their ridiculously amazing wedding. If so, you’ll be just as excited to see their ‘Honeyversary’ shoot as I was yesterday. The couple are photographers and have just been married over a year. As they moved to New York pretty much straight after their wedding they never had time for a honeymoon so they decided to take a trip to Palm Springs this month.
They stayed at Ace Hotel and Swim Club, a wonderfully retro cool and chic place, a style which they incorporated into the style of the photographs? “We love the mid century feel that Palm Springs has” Merrill explained. “All of the houses look so cool and the decorations are so retro-cool! While we were there we swam in the pool for hours on end, bought out all the records at the thrift stores, and of course, we did a photo shoot!”
Oh I have been so excited about sharing this shoot with you all! I’m sure most of you will be familiar with this gorgeous little family. Naomi is the beautiful girl behind the uber popular Rockstar Diaries blog and her husband Josh and their new dog Kingsley play a staring role in it. These guys really are wonderful people. Sweet, kind and darling. Their blog posts never fail to cheer me and they just seem so genuinely LOVELY!
OK enough gushing…you’re going to adore these images taken at the DC Cherry Blossom Festival by their wedding photographer Leo Patrone (who I’m hoping to meet when he comes over to London soon!) The light, the colours, the fashion, the fun and lurrrve…aww just so perfect.
I have been dying to feature a photo shoot by Flory Photo in ages, and I think Curtis & Vali’s shoot has given me the perfect opportunity. Photographer and friend Joel Flory actually shot their wedding back in 2002 – his first – and being such great friends with this pair, this shoot was extra special to them all.
Is anyone else as crazy about those geek-chic glasses as I am!? So. Much. Fun! His suit was Express for Men and her dress was an 8yr old Jessica McClintock that she wore on their wedding day.
