Rock n Roll Bride sponsor Michelle of Oeil Photography sent me an exclusive peek at her newest photographic creation. A lucid ballet of light, colour and fabulous fashion, these shots just make me want to dress up in a bright yellow 'cage' dress and get my pose on! Models Rene, Lauren (who actually made the yellow cage) and Tara (of Trigger Happy Photo) seriously rocked this shoot - stepping away from any fancy frou frou weddingness in favour of playing along in their very own circus act of colour, experimentation and edgy fashion.

A Bustling Flurry Of Exhilaration

When thinking about Mexico, the images that swim around my head (that is, after tequila and fajitas of course) are a fabulous and brightly colour hubbub of excitement. A bustling flurry of exhilaration. To me, my assumption is definitely reflected in their amazing portraits - just check out that yellow wall! The Bride, Dana, described their wedding vision to me: I am from Boston and my husband is from Mexico City. We live in Boston, but I wanted to share his amazing culture and the unique city with my family and friends so we decided to have a destination wedding. Our theme was modern meets classic with a major emphasis on something that has always bound us: our love of music. The ceremony was done set to our favorite songs—a mix of alternative rock and classic Mexican music. Mexico City is in itself, a huge mix of styles and old meets new, so we really played that up in our choices for the whole 4-day experience. Modern hotel and flashy nightclub outings, mixed with a traditional hacienda wedding locale and a live mariache band. Classic, Simple, Beautiful

You may have seen a few a snippets of this wedding gorgeousness on a number of other blogs, however I've gotta go that one step further and get you the full scoop on the wedding behind these glorious images. Katie & Nathan's wedding took place in the Groom's parent's back garden. They decided on a simple yet stunning green and white theme which was perfectly reflected in their surroundings. Katie's dress was a vintage find and Nathan wore a suit from Zara. Unconventionally the couple had their reception they day before their ceremony. They decided they would rather have a full day to perfectly engross themselves in their temple wedding without feeling at all distracted by the craziness of a reception to follow. Nathan said: It worked out perfect for us. Party hard the night before, and enjoy the simplicity of the temple ceremony with family and close friends the day after. Highly recommend it. A huge thank you to Nathan & Katie for allowing me to share their wedding. If you would have told me six months ago that I'd be getting submissions saying 'I shot this session with Rock n Roll Bride in mind' I would have said you were totally nuts. In fact I still think you're a bit nuts but I guess that's beside the point. Keira & Dan had a super cute session with Studio Nouveau. The vintage camera, the bright blue wall, the awesome trilby hat - yes I love it all. You've gotta watch the slideshow as well because I just can't get enough of this wonderful stuff. When She Used To Rock n Roll

Kirsten & Josh’s wedding not only had a fun, retro feel, but they really went all out with their 1950’s diner theme. I am crazy in love with the Brides entire outfit - from her Dorothy ruby slippers to her cute polka dot dress made by her Mother and friend Marnie Rogers, who designs clothes for Wintersun. The gorgeous Bridesmaid had a rockabilly style to them - especially their amazing hairdos! For the reception, the couple went all out for a 50's diner theme, where they designed and made everything themselves. The centrepieces were giant lolly jars and each table had a different type of old school lolly, which was the name of the table ("Sweethearts" "Milk bottles" "Ice creams" "Jelly beans" etc) The place cards were black & white candy striped lolly bags with everyone's names on them, each painstakingly tied with little red ribbons. The placemats were old records that they picked up in an op shop and they had little gifts for everyone on the table - mini erasers in the shape of burgers, fries, hotdogs and donuts, plus vintage metal wind up toys. Each table also had a diner style spring loaded napkin holder, salt and pepper shakers and tomato and mustard bottles. Then best of all, for dinner they served burgers, hotdogs, pizza and fries. I bet their guests were thrilled - no boring wedding food for them! The celebrations continued into the night with the couple having their first dance to 'I remember the Bride when she used to Rock n Roll' by the Stray Cats, finishing the night by swaying along to 'Earth Angel'. Thanks to the Groom's Mother Rhonda for sending me this wedding and to the couple for putting together all the awesome info for you all.

Billy & Rachel's wedding is sweet (as in sah-weet!) and reason numero uno has got to be Billy and his boys + their awesome H&M attire, closely followed by their tattoos (one of them has a tat that says 'rock n roll' for crying out loud!) Quite apart from their killer Groom styling, they all look like they had an absolutle blast and I love that... Credit: BWright Photography

I am so over the moon to be the first blog to bring you this amazing wedding. Paul & Cassie's day really couldn't be anywhere but Rock n Roll Bride though surely? From her cute cute dress, to their kick ass tattoos - from the simply sweet ceremony site (just plastic chairs and autumnal leaves) to all the adorable personal touches (I am crazy in love with their thumb print wedding tree 'guest book'.) There is in fact nothing I don't love and I could go on with a big old list of everything I am swooning over right now. However it's probably better for me just to share the photographic joy oui? Abbey Ruins – Part One

Woo! I have been dying to share the results from my photo shoot with Chanelle & Craig Segerius-Bruce so much so that I don't even have the full set yet so I'm going to do it in two parts. I met Chanelle for Sushi a while a go and we got a-chatting about doing a shoot together. We knew we wanted to come up with an idea that wasn't 'overdone' (even non brides-to-be worry about doing the same as everybody else...maybe I should read this article I wrote!?) Anyway, we came up with an idea revolving around an old castle and black...lots of black. This little inkling of an idea then evolved into shoot you see below. Despite buying a black dress from Ebay for the shoot, when it came to the crunch it just didn't look right so we went back on the old faithful, my Maggie Sottero wedding dress. I made the black veil myself out of some black tulle, a hair slide and lots of glue(!) and also broughtalong some various other colours of tulle which ended up coming in very handy (yes that is me splayed across a big rock and no it wasn't comfortable..or glamorous!) We trekked our arses all the way down to the Abbey Ruins in Reading town centre but when we got there it was all gated off with warning signs for potential falling rocks. Oh noooo! So what's a Rock n Roll Bride and photographer(s) to do? Hell break in and do the shoot anyway of course! Chanelle & Craig were fantaaaastic and played around with a new technique called 'painting with light'. I had to stand very still in one position for a number of shots while one of them moved around me flashing a flash for in different areas to highlight various area. I think you can see the results are pretty darn spectatorand give the images a real high fashion, edgy look. Chanelle is also an amazing re-toucher and has worked for no less than Mario Testino (oh yes!) so I knew me and my far from perfect skin were in good hands. You are going to totally adore these. Nancy's dress is just gorgeous and all those wonderful waves throughout the skirt make for some pretty dramatic shots. I am just loving all the portraits (especially the ones with the cute doggie, sorry Edward - i.e. Groom!)
