Iis & Flo

Our ideal trash the dress theme would be “Get Trashed at Dive Bars.” We think there are no places more perfect to trash the dress than Philadelphia’s dive bars, where we can pose in the middle of unique crowd with cheap drinks and good conversations. We are “the usual suspects” of local dive bars. We had our first date at Sugarmom’s. We meet regularly with our friends at Locust Bar on Wednesdays and at McGlinchey’s on Fridays (it’s our ritual!). We would like to wear our wedding attire; his vest & jacket and my white dress. Unfortunately, I cannot show the dress because Flo wants to be surprised on our wedding day in May 2010 (Hint: it’s a long white dress with tiers of ruffled dotted tulle)

Shelby & Glenn

We would LOVE to get trashed with Erica Berger!  We got married last summer, and are a very unique couple.  He is 23 years older then I am, and I have had a crush on him since I was 14 years old… getting to marry him was like living out a fairy tale!

I would be wearing my custom couture Jin Wang gown, red patent leather
stilettos and, birdcage veil; and my husband would be in his Hugo Boss
suit and Bruno Magli’s (he looks so handsome!).

Because we are such fans of Erica’s unique vision we would be open to going anywhere she was inspired by – but one idea would be to go to the shooting range, where we had our first date (my husband was a police officer for over 25 years before having to retire after being injured on duty).  Talk about being over dressed!

Kelly & Sam

kelly&sam

Sam and I met way back in high school. We were never actually interested in each other, in fact, we had rather poor chemistry! We were matched up as chemistry partners, and through a miss calculation, needless to say, we had the classroom evacuated! About 8 years later,  I had an interview in Cleveland, OH. I found out through the wonderful world of the internet, that Sam already lived in Cleveland. He took me on a tour of the city, and now the rest is history!

At this point in our lives, I have returned to school to become an art teacher, and Sam has taken some time off to write his first book. Not just any book, an epic historical fiction, about: ZOMBIES!! Ah, you see where this is heading… But it gets better! We are both originally from the Zombie Capital of the World: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Wait, it gets even better yet! The greatest zombie film ever made, Night of the Living Dead, by George A. Romero, filmed some scenes on Sam’s family’s property (very small scenes, like seconds, but very cool none the less).

So, we would like our “trash the dress” shoot to be an epic zombie battle! Think chainsaws and cricket bats! We would also like to enlist our family and friends to be our zombie actors. Imagine the family heirloom that would make: family, friends, our hometown… and some good old fashioned blood and gore.

Please remember, even thought I know you all want your favourites/friends to win, only one vote will be counted per IP address so voting more than once is futile. The winners will be chosen fair and square!

Our first date was a unique combination of a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and dinner at the crowded Hard Rock Café in Times Square – you have to excuse our touristy bent back then, we were NYC newbies! At that point, moving to the city from Long Island was a dream on the imminent horizon of college graduation. A dream that terrified and thrilled us both, much like our own relationship at first.  We moved in shortly thereafter and began to make a grown-up life together working in showbiz and becoming New Yorkers.

You see, our relationship with each other has always echoed our feelings for New York herself. New York demands that you earn the right to stay here, but in return offers a relationship that matures and deepens from those first star-struck days. You grow with New York. And there are always new things to explore.

Our absolute favorite thing to do together is to sneak in under the ropes closing off Bryant Park after-hours and just lay together in the middle of that big, open lawn and feel the awesomeness of being one with each other and one with such a great city. We love the park so much that we had our engagement tea party catered there beneath the trees.

We were adamant that we had to be married in New York, even though our families are both from opposite ends of the country. New York is home to us, and we want the official and legal start of the rest of our lives together to be right here on this teeming and vibrant island, within the city that both tests and buoys our love each and every day.

Janice & Seanjanice_sean

Sean and I met through my friend’s boyfriend. Our first encounter was at a game at his were we constantly flirting back and fourth on who was the better and trying to one up each other on the bets. We didn’t hook up right away, since I was in a long distance relationship with a musician who worked for Ringling Bros. We spent all summer flirting on myspace and promising to get together, which didn’t happen.

At the end of the summer, I dissolved my relationship with my other boyfriend and was single again. Early September, it was my friend’s boyfriend’s birthday and we were all invited to celebrate at the Pussycat Lounge. I managed to strategically get a seat right next to Sean and we ended up talking and flirting the whole night. Later that evening, Sean went outside to get some air and ended up colliding his head with the curb (later he’ll say that it was my beauty that took his breath away). We all rushed to the hospital and only a handful of us stayed until he was discharged, at about 9:30am.

Despite that fiasco, we still ended up dating. Our first date was The Body Exhibit at the South Street Seaport. After the exhibit, while overlooking the waters towards Brooklyn, we shared our first kiss. Today, we now live together in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It’s been three years since that first date and now we are talking about the possibility of marriage—and I can’t wait!

Georgina & John

Two and a half years ago, my career gave me the opportunity to become a New Yorker.  Moving from Sydney, Australia to London and finally to the U.S., there were always boyfriends but in a tried and true New York moment, this is where I met my keeper.

We met through Match.com- surprising, yes, but it does indeed work. He was the seasoned “expert” and I was the newcomer.  I guess his perseverance combined with my excellent selection skills were the secret to success.  We had our first date at Sushi Samba in the West Village, on a Thursday.  I had never eaten sushi before and was somewhat scared.  However, I’m always up for a new experience so I accepted.  Turns out I fell in love with him AND sushi.  We’ve had sushi nearly every Thursday since our first date.  We call it Sushi Thursday.  I know, we’re branding geniuses.

We met one month to the day after I arrived in this city.  I fell in love with him and New York all at once.  Since then we moved in together, bought matching green Vespas (which is all shades of embarrassing when we pull up at the lights next to each other) and we adopted a gorgeous puppy.

As for New York, I love this city like it’s a person.  I’ve never felt that way about anywhere – not even my hometown Sydney, Australia.  I know I won’t live here forever so I make the most of every minute that I’m here now.

No exaggeration this has been the most difficult contest to judge…ever! I am just so glad I got to choose 3 finalists, picking just one would have literally been impossible. So here’s the drill, I need you to vote for your favourites to win the photo shoot in the comments section of this post. The couple who get the most number of votes will win. You have until Sunday 12th July 2009 to pick your winners. May I introduce…

Johnny & Ash
What makes us particularly rock n roll? Both artists at heart [he with music, I with craft], we have genuine appreciation for that talent and work that go into photography. We often take our own little photo shoots in the comfort of our home — amateur, but still so much fun! Above all qualities, we share an immense dislike for material possessions and human natures craving for cash. We refuse to buy ourselves luxuries unless we can sincerely part with them. We will never claim to “need” something other than oxygen, nourishment, and each other. Our goofy personalities and spontaneity is all the entertainment I could ask for. A perfect day, in our eyes, is spent in the grass under the sun, maybe with a bottle of wine. Although we are completely content and thankful for what we have, our lack of money keeps us from ever treating ourselves to something nice. We know we will be just fine without the fancy dinners on important dates [we prefer to try and cook by ourselves anyway!], or the garden wedding we will never be able to afford, but being spoiled with the attention of a photo shoot is something he and I would really appreciate.

Automne & Graham
I could tell you all about our little rock ‘n’ roll habits like nerding out about records, drinking beer on the porch, going to shows, playing music together, making each other laugh, talking about politics, and turning each other on – but none of those things are fabulously unique. They’re just fabulous. What makes us unique is that we were introduced by a friend, reacquainted at a war protest, and brought together during a spin-the-bottle game. We’ve been inseparable for six years. Our first kisses made the papers and our wedding is going to blow your minds.

Erica & Richie
First of I just wanted to say I am totally addicted to Rock n Roll Bride! I HAVE to read and see all of the gorgeous pictures you post EVERYDAY, thank you for all of the inspiration. Ok with that said, on to my Fiancee and I. I met Richie at this indie/electro bar in our home town, one day I was there dancing the night away with my besties and he walked by. I promise that when I saw him I was instantly in love. So when he walked back by I couldn’t help but stare and smile. Then he walked by again and I smiled and was just hoping and hoping he would come talk to me, and he did! We hit it off and have been together everyday since. We are from Texas and now live in California, he moved all the way over here with me. The thing that makes us rock n roll is that we are 100% able to be who we are. We have so much fun together whether we are out exploring getting lost or whether we are at home watching TV. He makes me laugh, I make him laugh. We love dancing, jamming out in the car, and just being lazy together, there is nothing sweeter than that. We are getting married in March and I cannot wait! I dream of having gorgeous pictures like the ones I see here everyday

Good Luck guys, I’m glad it’s out of my hands now!

I hate to have to add this but pwwwease only one vote per person. I do not want this contest to turn into fisty-cuffs about some people getting multiple votes from the same IP addresses. Each IP address will only get one vote. Come on now people, I can see where each vote comes from, you’re not fooling me by changing your name or email address slightly! Play nice or don’t play at all.
