Old/New School Vintage Vogue

Kat

April 3, 2010

This scarlet-themed, soft, cool, old school/new school vintage session was sent over today by Jessika of December Photography. "I've been seeking clients who want something different " she told me. "I love experimenting and new ideas to channel my creativity. This engagement session had an old school/new school vintage theme. Outfits were organized only by colors. My vision was 'vogue meets nylon, and bring the chair'. I wanted some things to be out of place and clash, yet tie together beautifully in the end. While editing them, I kept with the vintage theme, de-saturated, vignettes, and warm/cool tones. The couple was very fun and up for anything, they made the pictures what they are!"

British Boudoir

March 31, 2010

This fabulous Boudoir/Pin up style shoot was set up by British photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox. "My Make up artist is fabulous at creating that seductive, lashtastic pin up look" She told me "She also styled the models hair and I loved how the retro bouncy curls turned out. Accessories are all mine and are mostly props from the studio. The STUNNING blue Manolo Blahnik shoes are actually my "something blue" from my own wedding day. All in all it was a really fun day full of bucks fizz, pearls, blue shoes and vogue magazine!! A perfect way to spend a Sunday in my opinion. "

An 80’s Inspired Squash, Après Ski, Vogue & Nylon Magazine Engagement Shoot!

Kat

March 16, 2010

Not looking for the traditional engagement session, Melissa & Colin went to Rhys Albrecht for an original concept...and he came up a treat! "I pitched 2 ideas to them." Rhys explained "First, an 80's inspired squash court shoot with knee socks, headbands and short shorts. Second, and this is a direct quote from my initial pitch to them, "a modern twist on the classic après-ski look. I'm picturing ski boots, tights, long johns, touqes, skis, parkas, etc. With bold colors. Like, if you could imagine Vogue merged with Nylon Magazine to do a "How to Glam Up Your Après-Ski" issue." And third, a more subdued winter look with slightly absurd accessories...like giant faux-fur hats"

Fashionable

Jenny & Ian got married in San Francisco this March. Jenny has a particular interest in high fashion and editorial photography and so the couple really wanted to bring this feel into their wedding. Everything from her Ulla-Maija dress to her amazing and unique birdcage veil/hat combo from Designs By Kristen, from her short reception dress by Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection designed by Kenneth Pool to her Yves Saint Laurent shoes - every detail rocked that fashion look. I also completely love their reception details. The had a Chinese Banquet at Tai Pan Restaurant in Palo Alto, the theme of which is reflected by details such as their stationary, the flowers and their adorable anime inspired cake topper. Thanks to Rachel for sending these in...I heart them. Credit: Studio Castillero
