Based in the South of England, wedding photographer Chris Giles prides himself on his journalistic and unobtrusive style of photography.

“I look at a weddings as being a living breathing thing with each one having it’s own unique personality,” he explains. “I essentially take its pulse and interpret the day as I see it.”

Chris likes to turn traditional wedding photography on it’s head and although he realises a need for group shots, it is with the fun, silly and ‘real’ images where his work really comes into it’s own. “It wouldn’t be out of place for me to carry 3D glasses and I’m not a venue snob,” he continues. “I’ll cover everything from Registry offices to Manor houses as it’s the people I’m most interested in. Whenever I take an image I try to capture something that will engage the viewer for more than just a fleeting glance.”

On the look out for something different in your wedding dress? Well if you’re lucky enough to live near Birmingham, UK I may just have the answer for you! The Couture Company, situated in Birmingham’s uber trendy Custard Factory, was relaunched last September as a shop that specialises in both unique wedding dresses, corsets (Rawhide Corsets) and lingerie.

Store owner Joanne tells us, “Clients can book a appointment (which is free and absolutely no obligation to order), and with that booking they get our undivided attention for a one to one appointment, we go through their ideas and plans for the wedding , and then get to work playing dress up , trying on gowns to get ideas about lines, shapes silhouettes and fabrics. We are not precious about our gowns that we are not willing to embrace each brides individuality, we are happy to input the clients ideas and discuss how we can make them work and bring them to life.  Its very inspiring meeting our clients and we draw on lots of ideas into the melting pot. Whether it is interpreting a clients idea of her gob-smacking gown or if its just to add a flash of colour or embellished jiggery pokery to an existing gown in our collection we embrace it all. We have designed many different styles of gowns in many different colours that is hard to pinpoint a particular style or type of gown….although we do particularly favour a nipped waist and a curved hip.”

Designer Joanne and her team will give clients their utmost attention, from your initial consultation to your final fitting, she works with each bride on a one to one basis, and will give you a vast choice of fabrics, colours, styles and detailing that you need for your dream gown. They work with the most beautiful fabrics from around the world, the smoothest Thai silks to the most Regal of Duchess Silk Satins and the most delicate of French laces, and also offer a number of fabric options to suit varying budgets. Joanne works with contemporary embroidery designers who can create the most  unique and exquisite embroidery designs to suit  each customer. Every gown and corset is handmade and created in house by Joanne and her team.

I’ve got a slightly different kind of post for you today, sponsored by Sandals and Martha Stewart Weddings. I have to say, I got pretty darn excited when I received the call from these industry giants wanting to work with little old me!

Sandals have put together a series of three videos, following the story of a couple getting married in Jamaica using their service. The incredible Martha Stewart Weddings are working alongside them to style the weddings of their lucky clients too. The company were keen for me to be the lucky blog to share these fabulously made videos and I have to say my mind has certainly been changed as to what a ‘package destination wedding’ can really be. Doesn’t the whole wedding looks just totally divine? The couple were able to escape from it all and plan the intimate wedding they wanted – just for them – and that dear reader, is what being Rock n Roll is all about!

But what about the price? Well unbelievably having a wedding as luxurious as this one doesn’t have to rival the cost of the royal wedding. Sandals state that the price of the average destination wedding is just £6,585 but incredibly a Sandals wedding can actually be complimentary! They explain,

Sandals Resorts, the Caribbean’s leader in destination weddings, have broadened their existing ‘complimentary wedding’ offer, meaning that for a limited time, couples who book their WeddingMoon in a Premium room category at any of the 14 Luxury Included Sandals Resorts will receive a free* Beautiful Beginnings wedding by Martha Stewart! This fantastic offer replaces the previous requirement for the free wedding, whereby couples needed to book a Concierge room category or above to be eligible.”

They offer a wide range of locations including Jamaica, Bahamas, St. Lucia & Antigua. Each location offers you something different so you really can plan the destination wedding of your dreams!

For more information about having a destination with Sandals and Martha Stewart Weddings, check out their website right here.

Launched by cake designer Sarah Spangle in January 2011, Leeds based Yestercake pride themselves on their high quality bespoke service.

“The idea of Yestercake was born when I got married in November 2009 and found, like many other aspects of the wedding industry, there wasn’t much scope to get a cake that wasn’t off- the-peg” Sarah told me.  ”Like with all other aspects of our wedding we didn’t just want to pick something out that didn’t really reflect us.  In the end I decided to go down the DIY route. It had mixed results (!) but it reconfirmed to me how baking was one of my greatest passions and inspired me to take the plunge to retrain in cake decoration and design and to build upon the idea of starting my own business.”

Yestercake HQ is based in Leeds, UK and Sarah is keen to invite potential clients to her workshop for consultations for bespoke cake designs. “Like all good wedding vendors I believe in trying to give the couple advice on what they want and guidance on what will work,” Sarah continued. “I absolutely adore the bespoke part of what I do and want to create an individual edible one-off for all my clients! As I’m also a food history and vintage enthusiast I really believe the cake is a really important aspect of the day. To me it is as important as the dress and should be reflective of the couples tastes, wedding theme and personality – it should be the perfect accessory to your wedding!”
