A bride willing to get her gown crazy-muddy for a trash the dress shoot probably isn’t anything new to a lot of your seasoned Rock n Roll Bride readers, but something about Rachel’s shoot really did make me go ‘wow’.

“Rachel contacted me for her trash the dress session desiring to get down & dirty, even muddy if possible,” photographer Gabrielle Foxtold me. “She said to think wilderness with a punk rock edge to it. I thought of an awesome location, a muddy lake near San Diego, and it ended up being the perfect setting! The photos definitely had a Rock n Roll feel to them, mixed with some Marilyn Monroe bombshell.”

With the movie coming out soon, photographer Tabitha McCausland was inspired to shoot a Red Riding Hood themed bridal shoot. Not only did she get an actual wolf in on the action (!) but Red is only wearing one of the new gowns from the latest Vera Wang collection. I die. Seriously…this dress? I need!

Be sure to check out the rad behind the scenes video too!

There are plenty more awesome images after the ‘jump’…

Lori & Nick were married in Hawaii in November and weren’t 100% happy with their professional photographs. While they were lovely, they didn’t have any pictures of Lori getting ready, and very few pictures that broke any boundaries.

Lori loved her dress, and she really wanted to have some more shots taken that she could really treasure,  ”That’s when they found me,” explained photographer Sarah Maren. ”We got together at the lovely Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento where Lori and her Mom had spent a girls night.”

“We were able to get pictures of Lori’s Mom helping her get dressed (something she missed out on doing at the actual wedding because she was busy setting up the ceremony space.) We then braved the cold and rain and rocked out an incredible portrait session of this beautiful couple.  We ended things under the freeway with Lori lying next to a drainage grate.  It was perfect!”

Åsa & Daniel’s Barcelona photo shoot was all about the details, “because to me it’s the little details that make the huge difference and I wanted to show them those little details” Spanish photographer Inés explained. The original theme and idea for this shoot came from Inés herself to show couples that capturing the personal details and portraits beautifully is what’s super important in wedding photography – even if that means dressing up again for a post-wedding shoot – the perfect excuse if you ask me!

The shoot took place at the picturesque Le Cucine Mandarosso in Barcelona, a super charming Italian restaurant in theheart of the city. “The place is full with vintage finds, from a huge candy stand, through a fab fridge to little ruby red martini bottle,” Inés told me. “The tableware is vintage, found in different street markets by the stylist. We tied little bows around the cutlery with ribbon that I kept from some delicious chocolate. But the most special touch on the table are the fantastic cupcakes that Jenny from I love Muffins specially made for our photo shoot and that substitute the classic wedding cake. Vera (the stylist) is completely crazy about them and swears that Jenny’s cupcakes are the very best ones she ever tried.”

The bride wore a vintage skirt that cost just 80€ from a vintage shop in the city that was closing down and a simple and cheap t-shirt customized with leather handmade flowers by Manón, who also handmade the hair piece and the sash. Her shoes were just 25€ from Stradivarius and her jewellery was from Bijoux.

Adam & Barbara’s trash the dress shoot is like nothing I’ve ever seen! Day of the Dead make up fused with an awesome cemetery location made for something pretty special. The bride did the make up “It was a trial and error process,” she explained. “I looked up make up designs online and tried different ones to see which would look best with my (and my husband’s) facial structure, without looking too cluttered.  Since it was right before Halloween, I could find cream makeup almost anywhere, and picked up a few tubes, and some extra just in case I ran out.  I applied it with paint brushes, which helped so I could layer it on without it looking too thick. I had to apply three layers of white to give it a true white appearance, and if I hadn’t run out of time, I would’ve applied more.”

The couple, who said their wedding was a bit of a ‘toned-down’ version of them, wanted to do something really dramatic and something they’d always remember for their post-wedding shoot. “Our wedding was very calm, very pretty, very “toned down” from the route I would normally go,” Barbara continued. ”We met at a Hot Topic store, started dating at a Halloween party, and got engaged at a rock Concert in California, but I wanted our families to feel comfortable, so I opted for only a few things that were on the darker side (mainly, the table that held my seating chart, which had Beetlejuice figures of “Barbara” and “Adam” and a twisted looking votive tree).”

“I wanted to do a Trash the Dress shoot because… well… you only live once, and I wanted to do something that I could remember, and look at the pictures down the road, and say “I’m glad I did that, that was so much fun”.  The Day of the Dead seemed like it would be really fun to do.  We wanted to do something completely non-traditional, something a little off-the-wall, something with a bit of shock value (which we definitely got when we went into town with the makeup on, plenty of stares, scared children, it was really funny), and this was the perfect opportunity.  We were actually planning on changing out of the Day of the Dead stuff and do a normal Trash the Dress shoot halfway through, but… it was too much fun, so we decided to stick with it.”
