Shannon & Os are both part-time photographers so their wedding photography was really important to them, they found Australian Annevi who came to LA to shoot their informal wedding. They decided to hold their ceremony and reception in Barbara’s at the Brewery, Los Angeles. The Brewery is known as the world’s largest live-work art colony and offers amazing industrial landscapes and interesting backdrops. So, of course that’s where they decided to shoot all their portraits.

They decided to skip a lot of the traditional stuff they didn’t have a lot of meaning to them so they didn’t have any catering in favour of a more casual Sunday picnic, where the guests brought food, cake and dessert dishes to share. They also abandoned the idea to have flowers as they felt they didn’t really suit them or their industrial setting. The bride wore a non traditional dress, a yellow number from Tahari by Arthur S. Levine teamed with white converse. She used her jewellery as a way to represent the people that couldn’t travel to be at their wedding – her bracelet was designed by her mother, her earrings and necklace were from her mother-in-law and an antique handkerchief from her great grandmother (price tag still on it: Famous and Barr 25 cents.) The groom dresses in a similarly non traditional fashion – his jacket was from a charity shop, his shirt and jeans were items he already had in his wardrobe and his braces/suspenders where from his father in law. He also wore red PF Flyers “guaranteed to make a kid run faster and jump higher.”

Paul & Jess’ wedding was a stylish affair of rockin’ proportions. They both looked every bit the Rock n Roll couple for their Spring Lake, New Jersey nuptials…with a little help from their friends & families! Jess explains:

When we decided to keep our anniversary as our official wedding date we were just about mid-stride in working on the party at the Breakers.  I have to admit that planning for the first ceremony was pretty far from my mind.  Paul and I chose our wardrobe based basically on matching each other like we do all the time.  I bought a really beautiful black/tan dress, red shoes from shoes.com and Paul picked up a tie to match his black & tan Nike SBs from Richmond Hood. We figured we had the whole thing in the bag.

McMarried

Do you remember Jen & Grant’s McEngagements? Well the couple went and got married and there was no Mcdonalds in sight.

Jen & Grant cleverly integrated the color blue as a tribute to grant’s favorite team duke as well as tying in a playstation theme (see cufflinks below), and left plenty of room for her obsession with skulls. the hampshire house wedding venue was transformed for jen and grant’s dream wedding. for the ceremony, grant’s best man served as the officiant by becoming a JP for a day, by getting his one-day marriage designation in the state of massachusetts. they had one of the coolest sets of bridesmaids and groomsmen i’ve worked with. after the ceremony, the newlyweds allocated a bit of extra time beyond traditional formal photographs to allow for some creative portraits walking around downtown boston in the boston public garden and an MBTA subway station. at the reception, DJ addam bomb provided music that had everyone on the dancefloor, including jen’s 86 year old grandfather rocking out to billy idol’s “white wedding.” if you are having a boston wedding and are looking for a DJ that can throw down great alternative music, yet still has a tasteful demeanor, this is your guy.

Thanks to photographer, Heather Parker for sharing this cool blue wedding!

ps if you are following me on Twitter or you are a fan on Facebook, you would have already been treated to a couple of sneak peaks of my photo shoot with Chanelle & Craig Segerius-Bruce. I can not wait to share the rest with you but for now, why no go have a little nosey?
