Crystal & Chip’s pink and white themed wedding gave me actual goosebumps as I looked at the photos. Seriously.

The couple were married in October at The Rusty Pelican in Miami and had one of my all time favourite Rock n Roll photographers, Matt Miller for  Our Labor Of Love, shooting the wedding. “Being half Filipino I have always loved Asian art and culture, so I wanted it to be part of the wedding” Crystal told me when I asked about their wedding day inspiration. “So it was a pink and black Asian themed wedding. When I was younger, I had a hard time being half Filipino. I grew up in a very small town where kids weren’t always nice about people being different. So over time I learned to embrace and be proud of my culture, and who I am.”

“The decorations and flowers were all in tune with the Asian inspiration. We used large garden roses and orchids. We wanted to used peonies but they were not in season at the time. Garden roses were the closest that we could find. The wedding favors were take-out boxes with cherry blossom chopsticks, and of course inside there was Japanese candies called Hi-chews and chocolate dipped fortune cookies. The wedding aisle had pink and black paper lanterns on Shepard hooks all leading to large planters that had bamboo and flowers where the ceremony took place. Also our cake toppers were unique. I have a great love for the brand Tokidoki. So we used 2 of their vinyl figures named Adios and Ciao Ciao as the toppers.”

“So all in all, my husband and I wanted friends and family who are from all walks being tattooed hooligans, lawyers, doctors, straight edge kids, band mates, conservatives, etc. to have an amazing time. I think that we were able to pull it off and everyone had a good time. Both my husband being creative in our own ways, him being music, with many bands and dj-ing, mine being more crafty and artsy, we wanted our personalities to be shown throughout the wedding. With that we feel we succeeded.”

“I had a major hand 98% of the crafty stuff from the wedding. I personally handmade my birdcage veil with kanzashi flowers, the bamboo table number signs, all the invitations, name cards, favors, card box, and many more things that are currently slipping my mind. Many of these were made from scratch. I take pride in how well things turned out.”

It turned our fabulously I say!

Steve & Kelly’s November wedding took place in Florida at Omni Orlando Resort. The theme for the day was butterflies, in memorial of Kelly’s Papa who had passed away 5 years earlier. As well as wearing the bride wearing a butterfly bracelet and flowers in her hair, the couple released butterflies in his memory.

At the reception the couple filled the room with details that meant a lot to them – fish in the centrepieces for good luck and tattoo details becuase they are both heavilty tattooed. Each table was also given a name that meant a lot to the couple.

“Tattoos are something steve and I both enjoy and wanted to make it a part of our wedding,” explained Kelly. ”We knew we didn’t want a traditional wedding, but still wanted to keep it elegant. Our planner and our vendors all made our vision become a reality and we have gotten nothing but great feedback from our friends and family. Everyone saw our personality in ever detail of our wedding.”

Jenn & Mark’s New York engagement sesh. is pure Rock n Roll. This couple are just way too cool and I know their wedding will be killer – I’m looking forward to seeing it already!

Jenn’s passion is photography and Mark’s passion is music – the perfect Rock n Roll union. The shoot took place around High Line Park and the Lower East Side - arguable some of the coolest areas in the city. This shoot makes me pine for a trip to NYC really soon…just check out that light! I’m hoping to go in 2011 with some girlfriends.

“I guess we’re Rock n Roll in our attitude about life,” began the bride. ”We are both vegan and our whole wedding was as well.  We never let anyone get in the way of that despite some people trying to persuade us otherwise.  We both grew up going to punk shows (he more than me..) and there’s a whole entire community of kids who just want to live a positive lifestyle.  We both thrive off of that. One of the greatest things I love about my husband is his love of his family and his friends.  He would do anything for someone, and does, when they ask.  There is no hesitation.  It’s an amazing virtue about him.”

“John and I both have tattoos for all of our immediate family members.  All of his are on his arm, while mine are spread out.   I have this weird blank spot on my left arm that when completed will finish out my half sleeve so to speak.  I always told John I’d be “bona fide” when I got married and thus, my future tattoo will be Bona Fide in pretty script with the date of our wedding done by the lovely wife of our photographer, Only You Tattoo.”

Cassie & John’s entirely DIY wedding makes my heart sing. Not only because of their totally authentic Rock n Roll attitude, but because it really was all about the lurrrrrve! “Our entire wedding  was DIY.  None of it would be possible without John’s mom.  She made all of my ideas into reality.  She sewed the burlap table runners (with ruffles!), made the bowtie and bandana for the dogs, and taught myself and my bridesmaids how to make and can apple butter which served as our wedding favors.”

“Our invitations were one of my favorite things about this whole wedding.  While my idea wasn’t original in the wedding world, but to most of my friends and family it was.  We used vintage handkerchiefs  and had a friend with a screen printing business help us. My oldest brother designed the invitation and helped us with the paper aspect of it all. I sourced all the handkerchiefs from eBay and antique markets.”  They also decided to have five cakes instead of the traditional giant wedding cake so that their guests could have a choice – all vegan, of course.

Cassie wore a Priscilla of Boston dress (which is is actually selling, so be sure to get in touch if you are interested in it and I will pass your details on) which she rocked up with Steve Madden flats and Betsey Johnson and vintage jewels.

The wedding took place at private 10 bedroom house on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA which they hired for the day. It worked as a complete blank canvas so they were able to incorporate all the elements that really meant a lot to them. The bride works in a vegetarian restaurant so naturally they were their caterers, a friend organised the flowers and they chose their DJ especially because they loved what they stood for (and of course because they were awesome, but that goes without saying!) “When researching how best to entertain our guests on the dance floor, we looked at DJ’s around Atlanta and came across To The Rescue Entertainment.  They are a husband and wife team who not only DJ events, but their main objective is to rescue dogs, specifically bully breeds.  Every event they do sponsors one of their rescued dogs to help them with medical bills and to get them adopted.  John and I ourselves have two rescued bullies and after meeting with Whitney and Eric, we knew we wanted to work with them.  Whitney assists Eric with every wedding and helped myself and John all throughout the day.  I would recommend anyone in the Atlanta area to hire them.”
