Laurel and Ryan’s DIY pre-wedding shoot took place in Ryan’s parent’s back garden (which just happened to have a few acres of land behind it!) I utterly adore the acid neon brights fused with an Alice in Wonderland theme, all of which was created by the bride & groom themselves. They bought the cupcakes from a grocery store and created all of the flower centrepieces themselves, again from store bought flowers.

The bouquets and boutonnieres were professionally made, but for the most part the entire photo shoot was their own unique vision and craft.

Killer!

Rennie & Joe are the coolest. The couple, who have known each other for 19 years and were first loves, still felt marriage was important to them even after all that time. “Most would think that it must be boring to marry after such a long time and that we might just be going through the motions,” Rennie told me. ”On the contrary, our decision to marry was not because we felt we “had to” – we decided to marry after all this time because we are more madly in love than ever and still best friends. We created our ceremony around our wishes to deepen our commitment to each other and profess our love in the presence of those who are most important to us.”

The couple both adore all things vintage and so they fashioned their wedding around this vibe, with an edge of Rock n Roll to suit their quirkly style. They did a lot of the wedding design themselves too. “Joe bought a nice suit and had the entire thing re-cut to look like a mod 1960′s suit,” continued the bride. ”I ended up making my dress from a vintage pattern, as well as three flower-girl dresses. We emptied flea market vendors of their milk-glass and record selections (don’t worry – we only chose the records that were too scuffed to play!!) to make the table decorations. It was a lot of work, but we loved all of it… it was wonderful to have so much control over our plans.”

“Joe was very good about participating in the plans – he definitely had a vision for the wedding. Our ‘get-away-car’ was a 1973 Norton Commando, which he spent the past two years restoring. Music was especially important to both of us – we had an incredible mix of soul, rock n’ roll, punk, old country (it is Nashville, after all) and reggae from our own personal record collection.”

“Joe and I walked down the aisle together – I’m close to my Dad, but at 30 years old, I am definitely my own woman. We chose Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is” because it has a lot of significance in our relationship. I would not have predicted myself to be a crier, but when we began our walk down the isle, I just bawled. In fact, about half of our guests cried tears of joy right along with me, so at least I wasn’t alone!”

“Because most of our guests came from several hundred miles away, I wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. With that in mind, we hired help for the perishable portion of the wedding. Our caterer took care of everyone (vegan, veggie and gluten-allergic guests) and our baker made unbelievable vegan & gluten-free cupcakes. The florist did a lovely job using locally grown, seasonal flowers.”

I blogged Brittney & Chris’ state fair engagement session only two weeks ago, but I am even more excited to share their actual wedding with you today – especially because they got tattoo ‘rings’ done at their ceremony! Oh yes, how Rock n Roll is that!? They had a ”</3″ tattooed on their ring fingers (the internet symbol for a broken heart) by Jeff Brown from Hold Fast in Dallas, TX.

They really took their fairytale theme to the max with the photographer they booked, Fairy Tale Photography and the venue they chose, Fairy Tale Manor in Texas! “Rock n Roll Bride was definitely a big inspiration to keep thinking outside the box”, the couple explained. ”We are already a little off as it is, so we just kept our personalities throughout each detail of the wedding. We had Fuzzy’s Tacos catering with margaritas in rainbow cups, a cereal bar, 100 calorie snacks as favors and pumpkins decorating the venue. Each member of the bridal party was given a Cinderella character pin in place of a boutonniere. A Cinderella theme with a ROCKSTAR twist!”

The Cinderella theme was carried out throughout the wedding from their awesome cake and the carved pumpkins to all the little details around the reception. The big kid in me loves it!

Brittney wore a one of a kind vintage dress from Circle Park Bridal, TX and for the reception, she chanced into the same Betsey Johnson dress and Toms that she wore for their engagement session. She chose not to have traditional flowers in favour of a sparkly faux flower spray bouquet.

James & Kassie got married at Casa Blanca on Brushy Creek, Texas in an ”earthy-vintage” themed wedding. The couple chose their venue because they felt it completely reflected the vibe they wanted for their day. “The outside ceremony site, decks for guests to hang out, trees everywhere…..it was just perfect,” began the bride. ” The venue allowed for simple accents and decorations, which was just what I wanted.   The colors were bright and happy, however allowed for that earthy theme to mix right in.  Down our aisle I had 1 ½ – 2ft tree trunks set along each side, with simple vintage bottles and daisy’s just to add the earthy-vintage flare. Our archway was designed with lilies and shells, with vines and curly willow, which added that perfect backdrop for our quick ceremony.”

Without a massive budget, Kassie had to work extra hard to perfect her bridal look. “I was on the hunt for a vintage tea length wedding dress and most of the gorgeous dresses were out of my price range as they were couture. But Melange Bridal went far and beyond to help me find a dress that was close to what I wanted and helped me visualize what the dress could become with some minor alterations.  Kassie wore a tea-length dress from Melange Bridal, shoes from Aldo (which she found for 90% off!) and jewellery from the fantastic and affordable boutique store called Charming Charlie’s.
