Well you guys are a creative lot aren’t you? Over the past month I’ve been literally inundated with amazing entries for the design your own wedding shoe contest that I ran in association with IF Ladies.
In fact so difficult was it to pick just one final winner that I asked the IF Ladies very nicely if I could pick a top ten and award some runners up prizes too… and luckily they said yes! Each of the lovely ladies below will be emailed a secret promo code for an extra discount on an order of any size through the IF Ladies website (pro tip: check out the S/S 13 tank tops – love love love!) How killer is that?!
But first and foremost our ultimate winner, who will have her design made into actual real life foot candy for her to rock on her wedding day (seriously, can’t wait to see how these turn out) is:
Sabine’s broken mirror & unicorn creation!
I fell head over heels (see what I did there) for Sabine’s amazing shoe design. I mean what’s not to love when you’re presented with broken mirrors and unicorns!?! In fact I’d really love a pair of these myself please.
Oh goodness have I got the best contest EVER for you today! The fashion giants that are IF Ladies (the ladies division of Iron Fist Clothing) would like to offer one very lucky Rock n Roll Bride-to-be the prize that might just make her wedding. How would you like to design your own pair of wedding shoes… and then win them to rock on your big day!?
I don’t think I really need to tell you who IF Ladies are. If you’re anything like me you’ve been lusting over their delightfully weird, wonderful and often ghoulish (the zombie stompers are still some of my faves) designs for years. But if for some crazy reason you haven’t yet been blessed with their wonder, have a gander at what they say about themselves…
“IF is fun, loud and never says ‘I’m sorry’. Colorful and out of control, our prints are known the world over for bold and badass artwork, unique designs and details that rock. Breakneck and bold as hell, IF is full of over-the-top statement pieces ranging from footwear to apparel and accessories. We’ve kicked our fashion forward, giving out style that’s effortless insolence in a mundane world. The IF customer wants to shout out to the non-believers who she is and what she wants to be. She’s the adventure hungry teen climbing over the fence, and the media savvy chick who’s a hit on YouTube. She knows that what she buys makes her own lifestyle awesome, and tells others to do the same. She is authentic and knows what’s not up to par with her lifestyle. She oozes fashion and uniqueness from her pores. She likes what she likes. And she doesn’t give a shit what you think.”
If you’re a shoe fetishist like me then you’re about to die over what I have to show you. Did you ever think an underwater world could be resurrected into shoe-form? Well, behold – the Lost Civilizations Shoe Collection from Anastasia Radevich.
“Lost Civilizations is the title for the collection of shoes that narrates a story of the lost civilizations of the past, present and the future,” Anastasia told me. “The first 5 pieces of shoes walk the viewer through civilizations that, despite all technological advancements, were doomed to vanish. They have been submerged beneath the seas, after the sea level rose and flooded lands that have been host to the humans before.”
If you’re anything like me you’ll be putting a lot of thought into your wedding day footwear, so I thought I’d give you a helping hand by introducing you to the fabulous world of Zalando. Stocking thousands of items including clothes, beauty products and (what seems like) a gazillion pairs of shoes, if you don’t find something you love here there’s probably no hope for you. Their website currently stocks over 600 brands including Melissa, Iron Fist, New Rock, Irregular Choice and Jeffrey Campbell - in fact over 40,000 products in total!
I certainly found something I loved…well a number of things actually. I’ve been obsessing over pretty pastel shades of late (perfect for Spring/Summer, which is just around the corner – hurrah!) so I thought I’d share some of my favourite soft hued shoes from their latest collection.
Pastels aren’t just for the classic princess bride you know, all of these shoes give pastels a Rock n Roll edge!
Look what landed in my inbox this week – a preview of the new Melissa shoe range for A/W 2011 including some brand new, never-before-seen Vivienne Westwood numbers as well as other design corroborations including Gareth Pugh! Be still my beating heart.
This post is like a rainbow of shoe loveliness huh? Happieee Saturday!

At the beginning of July I was contacted by the lovely people at Upper Street Shoes. My interest was immediately sparked. “Wait? I get to design my own shoes?” I replied, “AMAZING!”
To say I became somewhat obsessed with their website for the remainer of the day would be a huge understatement (and no I didn’t get any more work done…) I probably designed about 20 pairs of shoes before the day was out! It was super easy and super duper fun. Jimmy Choo has nothing on me I tell ya!
“Ever dreamed of becoming your own designer and fashioning your very own pair of shoes?” they ask. “Or have that special outfit you just can’t find the shoes to go with? Or you simply crave a unique pair of heels that nobody else has? Upper Street allows you to design your own gorgeous pair of unique shoes and have them delivered direct to your door all within a few weeks. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!”
“Upper Street is a new online shopping experience that allows women to design their very own pair of unique hand-made designer shoes. With hundreds of different style combinations in an extensive range of beautiful and exclusive materials, colours and embellishments from sizes 2-10, there is a pair of heels to suit every woman’s passion for shoes.”
Upper Street are quite frankly the perfect company to be represented on Rock n Roll Bride. I dare you to not get obsessed with designing your own wedding shoes! Non-sucky bridal shoes a go-go!
If you follow me on twitter or facebook you will probably already be aware of Upper Street, because I couldn’t help but squeal about my excitement in discovering them. In fact after mentioning the genius idea on my various social media platforms I was inundated with replies from my similarly shoe-obsessed followers who were designing their own shoes too.
After all that ‘hard work’ playing shoe designer I couldn’t not go through with ordering a pair could I? I went for these babies – black suede peep toe platforms with a big shiny pink leather bow and leopard print trim. I called them ‘Sex Kitten.’ Oh I die!
And I have to say I’m pretty proud of my design skills, not bad huh?
