If you’re a regular reader of Rock n Roll Bride I’m sure you’ll already be aware of the amazing Emma Case (she shot the image that I’m currently using as my blog header/my ‘Punk Rock n Roll Bride’ shoot) and Lucy Ledger Designs. Lucy makes gorgeously creative vintage-inspired stationary (I’ve also been lucky enough to feature her before as well as meet her in actual real life!) After Lucy saw Emma’s work on Rock n Roll Bride she got in touch asking if they could get together to do a promotional shoot for her vintage stationary company. Hello!? Match made in vintage Rock n Roll heaven or what!?
“A few months ago I was reading your blog and I stumbled across Emma Case and I fell immediately in love with her style of photography” Lucy told me. ”It was about that time when I was looking for a unique way to showcase my wedding collection at exhibitions because I felt that Stationery stands were a little samey and unimaginative. I really wanted my brandto stand out and wow people and that’s when I got the idea of asking Emma to do some publicity shots for me. As we exchanged emails we thought it would be fun to incorporate a ‘rock the dress’ style shoot in with it – any excuse to wear my wedding dress (Maggie Sottero ‘Ireland’) again! I got married in the Winter so I thought it would be fab to try the dress in a totally different season and accessorize it differently to create a fresh new ‘look’ that reflected my brand – Rustic and a little bit Boho! So I thought it would be fun to pair it with my fave pair of cowboy style boots! Now I needed accessories. I have met so many amazing suppliers over the last 6 months I thought it might be nice to bring some together for the product shots and to help with my accessories. I approached various different vendors that I admired and was overwhelmed with the response – the generosity of everyone donating products to the shoot was amazing.”

I was excited when I featured Olivia & Mark’s engagement session a few weeks ago (they are another Rock n Roll Bride couple and found their photographer Lisa Devlin on the blog) but when Lisa sent me in their wedding the other day I was even more excited! I really do have the best readers don’t I!?
“Olivia & Mark are originally from LA and wanted to give their friend’s and family a quintessentially English experience for their wedding” Lisa told me. ”When we woke up in The Cotswolds to the sound of lashing rain, I thought they were going to get the full glory of a British Summer and it would be wellies all round. Their optimism was infectious and everything was set up for an outdoor ceremony in the grounds of Barnsley House, although some bin bags were left on their paper lanterns until the last moment. This has got to be one of the most gorgeous venues in England and the sun came out as Olivia crossed the lawn with her Dad, causing Mark to well up. I loved that she went for full-on glamour with lashes and deep red lips, it went well with her dramatic dress. Her close friend, Josh was the ‘bridesmaid’ and did such a stirling job, I’m thinking of hiring him for other weddings.”

Oh I love featuring anniversary shoots. I get excited and all mushy to see how in love you guys are even after a few years of marriage…and of course they mean that there is no end to the inspiration I can give you – so don’t stop reading Rock n Roll Bride just because you’re married you hear!?
Sarah & Ben, have been married for 4 years and wanted to do a vintage rustic themed anniversary shoot in a park. They had a sweet lazy picnic going with apples and antique coca cola bottles where they could lie in the grass and enjoy the sun. They also climbed a tree together, wrote love letters on a typewriter, and listened to records. Their outfits were handpicked from estate sales, thrift stores, and Etsy and the props they brought - a portable record player, records, a birdcage, and a typewriter - were also from thrift & antique stores or passed down from family members.

I love Bryan & Claira’s adorable rustic, homespun wedding. It was held at Hill Country Village, which is right out in the middle of the country that surrounds Shreveport, LA. “It has an old grocery store, a couple old farm houses and this big brick venue where we held our reception. The wedding itself was outside amongst all of these fun old buildings” Claira told me.
The wedding had a family orientated, diy feel to it with the bride’s Aunt helping with the flowers and even their photographer Kelly’s Mum making the cake! “The cake itself is based off of a ceramics piece I made early on into my studies as a potter here at the Savannah College of Art and Design” Claira continued. ”Hill Country Village has a man named Bill who is incredibly on top of his game that makes delicious food and was more than happy to accommodate our vegetarian taste buds.”
Instead of favours, the couple donated beehives to a family in need through Heifer International and made little slips of paper with twine to let their guests know. Claira wore a dress which belonged to her Great-Grandmother which she had altered a little around the neck and bust. “It was so much fun to wear such a beautiful and meaningful gown” she said. Bryan helped her find her shoes and she was very careful about choosing her accessories, “I wanted something that was a little funky and 1930′sish. I found the earrings on Etsy and the necklace I wore was my Great Aunts (who’s wedding band I received).”

There ain’t no one that ‘did it their own way’ as much as Ted & Tamara. “Our budget ‘tree of life’ themed day was filled with love” they began their email to me last week. ”With a limited budget, I set out to make our special for us with simple tree stumps found along the Mississippi River. Our bridal party wore simple summer-loving attire that are so ‘re-usable’. My J Crew dream dress was found on ebay for $80. Orchids sang, yellow petals danced, willow branches waved all around us. Pure bliss.” The couple only spend $2000 on their perfect wedding day. “When I started dreaming up my wedding,” Tamara continued ”we were going to be starting a new life together. I always think of trees as representing life and when Ted found the perfect pieces of driftwood from the Mississippi River for us to use we knew that was what sort of wedding we wanted. We wanted a ceremony to be sweet, meaningful with a fun casual atmosphere.”
