Lisa & Tyrone got married on the South Coast of Kwa Zulu Natal in South Africa. Their bridesmaid and photographer, Jacki Bruniquel, told me the whole story. “Their wedding was a day of such love and celebration. Lis not just my sister she is one of my best friends and Ty is not just my brother in law he has been in the best friend category for long time now. Tyrone happens to be a really good photographer as well! I love them both to absolute bits and pieces and really wish i could just do their whole day all over again.”

Lisa had her little velvet red pump shoes made especially for her as she is a strict vegetarian. Her cute fifties inspired dress and gorgeous orchid bird cage veil were made by Katherine Kidger, a very funky designer based in Durban.

The ceremony tool place on the beach but as Jacki was a bridesmaid she didn’t photograph this part of the day. “Ty & Lis had very specific ideas for the reception,” Jacki continued. ”We collected tins and slipped plants forever to make the succulent pot plants which were given away to guests as gifts! Ty’s Mom made what seemed like a gazillion origami birds. Ty is a great graphic designer as well as a photographer and he designed all the menus, seating plans, invites etc. My Mom needs a huge pat on the back for all her hard work as she made all the table runners and so on.”

Finally, the couple and Jacki headed out for some funky wedding day portraits (these are my favourite shots of the day!) “For their creative shoot we had originally planned to do a vintage beach shoot with funky beach umbrella, beach ball and deckchairs but with the wind Lis wanted to get straight off the beach because it was so windy. I convinced them to do a few shots with the umbrella as i just knew it would get absolutely bashed by the wind. These pics really do capture the reality of the day! From the beach we went back to the reception venue and i found this green wall at the back of the establishment which was wind free and really made Lisa’s shoes and red lippy!”

Oh MAN am I excited to share Krystle & David’s wedding story with you today. The couple got married just twelve days after they properly met and they couldn’t be more in love if they tired. This is their story…

“We met online via our professional wedding photographer forum, DWF.”, the bride told me (they are both professional photographers) “We actually first met when both of us flew across the country to attend the DWF annual convention, in Nashville this past January.”

“We talked that first weekend about getting married and joked around about going to get married by Elvis back then and I told him I would have married him with a ring pop because I just wanted to be with him. We actually decided to just get married mutually, and when he came out to see me the couple days before we eloped to Vegas, he surprised me with a real proposal! We were playing Mario on my Super Nintendo because he swore he was better than me, yea that sucker failed miserably and I kicked his ass. He then pulled out a Star Wars tin lunchbox filled with my favorite Canadian chocolate bars, I love you mints, and dousche bag gum. At the bottom of all of that was a ring pop. He told me he loved me, wanted to be with me forever and then some, and then asked me to marry him. Nothing over the top, but I can’t think of any better way to be proposed to than Mario, chocolate, Star Wars, and wearing sweat pants.”

Ahhh! But it doesn’t stop their people, just you wait until you see their gorgeous wedding!

They were married in Graceland Wedding Chapel and had an informal dinner at the Grand Lux Cafe afterwards. As lovers of all things retro and “obnoxiously bright” Vegas was the perfect place for them. Both being wedding photographers they had seen their fair share of what they didn’t want over the years so the decision to do something completely different was quite an easy one.

I featured Mary’s killer bridal session earlier this year – the aviators, gun and cigar really did it for me - so as always I’ve been eagerly awaiting for her wedding to Opie and I’m certainly not disappointed. I’m so excited that photographer Jenna wanted to share these with us:

On her big day Mary not only rocked finger waves (vintage chic oh lala), a consignment shop wedding dress, a DIY wheat bouquet and red heels, but she and her beloved, Opie, had a wedding pie instead of wedding cake, saw each other before the ceremony (yay!), gave homemade truffles to their guests (and their photographer as well, which doubles their coolness factor in my book), and served hamburgers as their wedding dinner.
