Just a quickie to let say thank you to everyone that came to my first School of Rock (n Roll Bride)* yesterday. I had a great time talking to possibly the nicest bunch of girls (and one token guy – there’s always one poor bloke at these things!) that I could have asked for for my first workshop. I’m now more excited than nervous for the next one! I’ll have a few more photos to share with you soon, but here’s one Shell took on her phone yesterday.

I was so excited to be asked to be interviewed for Snippets Magazine in their wedding special edition. Not only is it a magazine I’ve read (online) a lot, but they’ve featured some of my internet idols in the same feature previously. But then I found out they were putting me on the damn cover and I just about died!

They even made a little caricature of me which graces their website walls while I’m on the cover too. Haha!

BBC Scotland

Thank you to all the readers of the blog who heard this and told me about it! I was surprised and honoured to learn that Emma Jones, author of Working 5-9, a book I was profiled in last year, and the mastermind behind the small business website enterprisenation.com, was interviewed on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Fred MacAuley Show’. Unfortunately the clip has now being taken off the BBC iPlayer, but I listened to it last week and wrote down what they said about me for you.

So I found out last week that Marie Claire Australia are going to re-run my article that appeared in the July issue of the UK version of the mag. Wooo…Australia is like, BIG. I’m over the moon and so so thrilled that my Aussie readers will get the chance to see me in print. So thank you (again) to Marie Claire Magazine. I am beyond flattered that you’ve found me interesting enough to publish twice!

For this month’s Photo Professional article I wrote some of my top tips to getting your work featured on wedding blogs and in magazines. A simple and to the point topic, but one that I hope a lot of photographers (and other wedding suppliers actually) will find useful. Wedding blogs get a lot of submissions so I think it’s really important to know how to make yours stand out from the crowd.

I chose to illustrate the article with this beach shoot by Dottie Photography – perfect for summer and one of my favourite ever styled shoots.

Marie Claire Magazine (UK)

When Marie Claire Magazine contacted me asking if I would like to be profiled in a feature about ‘Super-Bloggers’ I just about fell of my chair. Erm moi? in MARIE CLAIRE!? I might have squealed a little bit…well a lot.

I was interviewed by a journalist where she asked me all about the business, what I do, how I earn my moolah…and all that jazz. I’m thrilled with how the article turned out and I’ve had so much amazing feedback since – including a call from the BBC (see below) and Marie Claire Greece! BBC Radio Berkshire

On Thursday I was invited to BBC Radio Berkshire to be interviewed on the Anne Diamond Show. Anne was actually off for the week but we met the very lovely David Prever, who made me feel incrediblly welcome and slightly less nervous than when I first walked in! Gareth came to hold my hand and even he got on air too!

This month I addressed a question I get asked over and over by photographers, wedding suppliers and other bloggers – how to create a great website. I wanted to share some of my tips on how to make your website stand out from the crowd as well as highlight some pitfalls to avoid (like the plague!)

…but I didn’t expect this one! My friend Marianne Taylor was intervierwed by Photo Professonal on the ‘Beloved’ Movement – a style of shooting couples to envoke real emotions and photograph them in a really unique way. Gareth & I did a Beloved shoot with Marianne for our anniversary and so it was a huge surprise when flipping though the magazine to see our photo on a double page spread! Thanks Marianne and Photo Professional!
