I am so EXCITED about sharing Josephine & Radney’s wedding today! I first met Filipino photographer Josephine Sicad when she submitted some of her own photographic work for features on Rock n Roll Bride and I was instantly smitten with her vintage aesthetic and beautiful and genuine portrayals of true love! So when she told me that she herself was getting married, I literally couldn’t wait to see the results….and I DIE at how fabulous they are!
The couple got married at Vistamar Boardwalk in Mactan Cebu City, right on the beach in a DIY heavy, eclectic vintage style wedding. Josephine in particular worked really hard to create something beautiful and unique for their nuptials. First up, Josephine crafted her own unusual bouquet from vintage necklaces with fabric flowers on them and a recycled egg beater (!) as the ‘stem’. She even used the left over beads and things from the necklaces in the centrepieces! She found this awesome bike pendant which she disassembled to craft Radney’s boutonniere. In keeping with the bicycle theme, the couple chose to ride to their reception on a bike instead of getting in a car – which they decorated themselves.
The invitations were created from their engagement photos, taken by a Josephine herself (I featured them here!) and were put together by her best friend Govinda. ”I made the lay out for the rest of the invitation, while my husband doodled our wedding monogram (bride & groom on a bike)” Josephine explained. Instead of traditional favours, the couple gave vintage plates to their guests! It was a last minute idea that they put in because they fell in love with them and wanted to use them somehow!
Finally, the couple threw a “Best Vintage Attire” contest to help their guest get into the theme. ” We wanted to encourage them to wear as much as vintagey tones in line to our wedding theme,” Josephine explained. “At the end of the party, we awarded the best one with a vintage mini-jukebox radio I had bought. For the rest of the party, we threw out questions on ‘How will you know the Bride & Groom? And anyone who got an answer correct was allowed to pick any quirky item decorated from the centerpieces to take home.”
This sweet and cute engagement session is something a bit different to what I often post. However I thought Krystle & Derek’s Teen Vogue inspired shoot was the perfect way to show that you don’t have to be all about tattoos, props and vintage picnics to be considered Rock n Roll! The couple, from Manila in the Philippines, styled their shoot themselves to have a ‘mix n match’ simple fashion-shoot theme. ” We simply wanted our photos to look fun, flirty, fresh and alive with simple props” they told me.
Alvin & Diane were married in Seattle and I really wanted to share with you their fun portraits and her gorgeous dress! The gown (and her accessories) were from Veluz Reyes which were flown all the way from The Philippines. Enjoy!

Oh how I love the crazy, mad world that MangoRED create with their photography. Who else could come up with something so magical, hilarious, joyful and original!? Check out the styling by Geof Gonzales…I have a total compulsion to dress up like a soya drink carton or wear an outfit to match my wallpaper right now…
“What we do is dream” Geof explains ”Seldom do we come across people with same predilections as ours and deem it priceless and we are very, very grateful for it. Thus inspiring us to push our imaginations to higher heights. Initial inspiration really come from our couple. Then we stir it with our own interpretations by whims of our minds and guilty pleasures. Inspiration roots from appreciation, so everything is inspiration, everything.
Nature mixed with humanity mixed with spontaneity mixed with integrity mixed with humility mixed with schizos and complex personalities comes a melting pot of creative excess and indulgent, succulent rendering.
We stretch reality. We love wallpapers to the extent that we want to envelope everything with it. Gravity is a banal thing yet tinkered on resulting to a surreal moment of suspension. An odd mix of mascots is our way to humor what we do. So, everything is a result of playing.”
When photographer’s Kel & Mar turned up at Richard & Josephine’s hotel room they were brimming over with ideas and excitement for their engagement shoot. However, after seeing the chaos of the room all the ideas were scrapped in favour of a much more ‘real’ photo shoot location. Finally, a shoot that makes me proud to not have a perfect, immaculate ’magazine-worth’ house myself!
Aldous & Leah’s engagement session with the incredible MangoRED blows me away! The vintage tones, the phenomenal set design…the whole feel is just awesome.
