Wow wow wow. Kelly & Sean sure knew how to rock a wedding! From an emotional ceremony, to a family-orientated reception to a crazy-fun party, the whole day looks like an utter blast! “The one thing that we dislike about weddings is how they are all alike” they told me. ”We understand its tradition and that’s how its supposed to be done, but why? why is there a set pattern?  We wanted our wedding to be personal to us. We wanted to start our own traditions and do things unique to our style. The theme of our wedding was basically “Things We Love” and  it ended up being the perfect reflection of us. We did whatever we wanted and nixed things we disliked. we strived to make it intimate and personal. Our wedding was hands down the best day of our lives, we had everything we loved, surrounded by everyone we love and made sure to marry the heck outta the one we loved!”

The wedding too place at The Allan House. They had a short and sweet ceremony outside which was full of touching moments. The groom’s grandfather was a groomsman! He really relieved the tension during the ceremony when he whistled at the bride as she walked down the aisle…what a lovely idea to involve such a special member of the family in the wedding in this way.

I found a linky to the wedding of UBER UBER UBER cool recent bride and artist Zoetica Ebb & her writer husband Ales Kot on Gala Darling last week and literally couldn’t wait to share it with you – especially after I visited Zoetica’s inspiring website and laid eyes on her sparkly, blue, fauxhalk! Serious hair envy batman!

The pair actually got officially married in a microscopic civil ceremony June as Ales is a Czech citizen (you can see Zoetica’s post on the event here including their adorable ‘leaving the ceremony’ video) so the couple decided that a second ‘just for show’ ceremony didn’t make sense so their wedding was actually just a big old Rock n Roll celebration!

Zoetica wore the parachute gown from All Saints, which was a gift from her friend Courtney and a necklace from her husband, a keishi pearl and black garnet beaded necklace with pyritized ammonite pendant and three pink sapphire drops, by Ria Charisse, purchased through the lovely folks at Gold Bug Pasadena. The pair also had custom-sculpted and cast rings made by Shane Case. “We wanted a texture that looked somewhere between bark and flesh and the lunar surface” Zoetica told me.

There is going to be much love for this wild English wedding, because as soon as I saw it my heart flipped and I couldn’t wait to share! Not only because Micheal & Alice’s wedding was quirky, vintage and Rock n Roll cool, but because they are British too…yey for the UK giving the uber stylish yanks a run for their money!*

The couple chose The Hop Farm as their venue because, in their own words, “it had a certain britishness to it and being both born and bred in Kent we grew up with the iconic images of the oast houses and it just felt comforting and homely to have them as a back drop to the wedding.” They didn’t really have one theme per-say but they just came up with/borrowed ideas from many areas that inspired them. In fact the only stipulation they put throughout the whole of the process of planning their wedding was that they wanted to get as many people as they liked together to have a really good party, and the actual ceremony and marriage was just a small part of that.

One Big Party

Aly & Elroi’s wedding was described by the couple as ‘one of the most magical days of our lives’ A day filled with such a fun party vibe and one where all their friends and family pulled together to help them achieve the wedding of their dreams.

Just a few examples of their amazing friends who helped out include, both their outfit’s being made by a friend of theirs who lives in New York and another friend made and travelled with their amazing wedding cake all the way from Texas! They had another friend cater for them and some other friends who made the invitations.

Funny and persoanal anecdotes are what makes wedding like this great, and Aly spoke about their impromptu (and hilarious) bridal shower…
So, I went to the coffee shop to meet them, got my coffee, sat down and realized that everyone was being weirdly quiet as I babbled and babbled. So, I stopped and was like, “What’s going on? Why aren’t y’all so quiet?” And my friend Lindsey says, “Well, I’m just going to tell you. You’re kidnapped.”
“Huh?”

Danielle, my MOH, shouts “Get in the car. I’m not gonna tell you twice!” (She was trying to be tough-sounding in a hilarious way.)

So I was handed a clue that I had to decipher to tell them where we were going to. I was like, “Wait- you’re kidnapping me but I have to tell you where to take me?”

Danielle: “Don’t ask questions!” Ha!

So I figured out that the place the clue was talking about was the place Elroi proposed. So we went there and took pictures that would be left as a clue for Elroi, who has also unknowingly been kidnapped from our house by his side of the wedding party.

(Side note: Elroi was actually kidnapped right in the middle of washing our dogs. So, Danielle’s boyfriend who had been helping at the house took over dog-washing duties. As El’s friends were leaving with him, Macauley, our rascally cake-maker instructed Danielle’s boyfriend to just “wash as many dogs as you can.”

Every time I solved a clue, I got a present–so it was also like a surprise shower. I couldn’t believe I didn’t know anything about it and I felt so loved that all these people would plan something so elaborate and fun for us.

Thanks to Aly & Elroi for sharing their gorgeous wedding and story!
